We were very happy with the cottage, which was clean and had everything needed for a short stay. Great wildlife, birds, foxes, beavers all viewed from the property.
The place was what we had hoped. We had some bad luck with certain things but the owners were very accommodating and communicative.

Thank you so much for your kind review! I’m really glad the place met your expectations overall, though I’m sorry to hear you ran into a bit of bad luck during your stay. We truly appreciate your understanding, and it was our pleasure to help however we could.
You were wonderful guests, and we’d be happy to host you again anytime!
The area was great. We enjoyed seeing swans, a blue heron and beautiful fox that visited early one morning. The area is great for canoes, kayaks and the peddle boats were fun. Linda was great to communicate with. The General store near by was so cute and the baking they sell is so yummy. The chip stand there has the best gravy. Great stay. Thank you

Thank you so much for the lovely review! I’m so glad you enjoyed the area and got to see some of the local wildlife. It’s great to hear you had fun with the canoe and paddle boats as well.
I’m happy you like the nearby general store and chip stand, they really are local gems! It was a pleasure communicating with you, and I’d love to host you again anytime. Thanks again for staying with us!
This was the worst cottage I have ever been to in my entire life without exaggeration. The location was so spectacular; in the beautiful kawartha lakes, lake front on pigeon lake, an hour and half from Toronto. I’m deeply disappointed at the lack of effort that was put into such a great spot. To keep it short, the kitchen was overwhelming under stocked. Every appliance: Coffee maker, kettle, pots, pans, the oven, the toaster, and the grill was horribly caked on with grease, crumbs, and burnt black to a crisp. The entire posting was false advertisement because there was no tea, no paddles for the kayak, and barely any utensils. The glasses and mugs in the cabinet were cracked which is extremely dangerous. These items should have been discarded/replaced. The overall all cleanliness was enough however there was hair in the beds, bathroom, and pet fur all over the sofa. I’m no one to expect perfection but the neglect of the place was obvious. We all had quite the ah-ha moment when we saw someone hammer in a “For Sale” sign at the front of the house. I truly hope the new owner loves and revives this cozy cottage and brings it back to life.

Hi Warda,
Thank you for your response. I’m sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations.
As noted in our listing, bookings typically require a minimum of two nights, while your reservation was for one night. As we had communicated in advance, we were unfortunately unable to accommodate early check-in or late check-out on this occasion.
We always aim to provide a pleasant experience for our guests, and we kindly ask that guests help us maintain the cottage by leaving it clean and tidy upon departure. Most of our guests are very considerate in this regard. We would have appreciated it if the garbage had been taken out and the property left in good order.
Additionally, we had informed you prior to your arrival that BBQ access would not be available during your stay.
Thank you for your understanding.
Best regards,
Linda
We had a wonderful, peaceful and relaxing stay at this lake front cottage. We will definitely recommend it to our family and friends and even re-visit. Thank you,
Perfect space for a quiet and relaxing vacation. Property was clean and well appointed. Great for canoeing and observing birds and wild life. We saw muskrats and great Herons.
Lots of space to stretch out and see the stars
We would return here
Our stay was wonderful. The hosts, Linda and Shawn were amazing! Even had a short visit with Shawn who sweetly greeted us with a bottle of wine for my husband’s 60th birthday. Very clean accommodations and a beautiful scenery to wake up to. Perfect stay for our pup as well. Highly recommend this vacation home in the Kawarthas! Especially now with the beautiful Fall scenery. Looking forward to coming back!
Really impressed with the cottage. Very clean, incredible view and relaxing atmosphere. Really quiet road to take walks or bike ride. Perfect place to getaway for a week or more.
Overall a fantastic stay. Brand new BBQ and all appliances, kayak, canoe, etc all in great condition. 10 out of 10.
Great home for my husband, me and our pup! The house was well maintained and comfortable. It is located in a quiet neighborhood. The deck was perfect for enjoying many meals and for watching the sunset! Communication with the owner was excellent.
Pigeon Lake is quite weedy. We found the area interesting though with small communities and causeways around the lake. We found the cottage comfortable, but we had to go buy small items we felt we needed. (e.g. paring knife, measuring cups, bath mat for the shower for safety. )
The cottage is homey and comfortable. The pluses were the spectacular view and location; the paddle boats and canoe which our kids loved; the outdoor space and options to be outside; and the very communicative and accommodating host. Minuses were the state of general repair. This cottage is obviously not lived in or used regularly which the “for sale” makes clear. Maintenance and upkeep appear to be neglected as many things are beginning to fall apart, come undone or just not work. We dont expect perfection in a cottage stay so these things we overlooked. Some things were harder to, though: overall cleanliness wasn’t very high. The cracked glassware a previous resident complained about was still there. We were a family of 5 and while we had plenty of space for ourselves in the cottage, the one downside was the kitchen which is really tiny and a challenge for a larger group such as ours. Just something to keep in mind when booking. Lastly, the cottage advertised as having wifi which was a critical feature of me as I had to work the weekend we went, However, the wifi was extremely unreliable and actually down almost the entire time we were there (3 days). I spent quite a bit of time with the internet provider on the phone but in the end we never really got wifi. Which meant the weekend was much more stressful than it needed to be. I understand that wifi isn’t as reliable in cottage country, but this was exceptional. Overall, the cottage met our expectations.

Thank you for your detailed and thoughtful review. I’m really glad to hear you enjoyed the view, location, outdoor space, and that your kids had fun with the paddle boats and canoe. that’s exactly the kind of experience we hope families have here.
I also appreciate you pointing out the areas that need improvement. Since your stay, we’ve removed and replaced the cracked glassware you mentioned, and we’ve had a bell technician come out to repair and stabilize the Wi-Fi. We understand how important a reliable connection can be, especially when you need to work, and we’re sorry for the frustration this caused during your visit.
Your feedback on general maintenance and cleanliness is taken seriously, and we’re actively addressing these items to ensure a better experience for future guests. The note about the kitchen size is also helpful for others considering a stay.
Thank you again for staying with us and for sharing both the positives and the constructive feedback. it truly helps us improve.
