Other things to note
We welcome dogs, but unfortunately, due to allergies, WE CANNOT ACCEPT CATS.

There is a security camera above the front, outside door. It only covers the driveway area and audio is turned off. It is used for security when nobody is at the house.

This is a country home, so some things to note are:

-The house has some small quirks that add to it's charm, but may be different from city homes
-In spring, summer, and fall there may be mosquitos and other insects that can bite, so insect repellent may be a good idea. While there are screens on all windows, insects may get inside from time to time when doors are opened and closed.
-Note that we live on a dirt road, so there may be dust and some potholes/bumpiness on that small stretch of the road before our driveway.
-We use well water, which is tested and safe to drink. It may taste different from city water, so if you prefer to drink bottled water, it is available at the nearby market.
-Water pressure in the home can be variable. Only one shower can be used at any one time and if you run water using appliances such as the dishwasher or washing machine while showering, pressure in the shower will drop.
-There is a sump pump in the crawlspace under the house that runs periodically throughout the day. This is nothing to be concerned about, but you may hear it from time to time. It just keeps groundwater out of the crawlspace.
-Walls are not very well sound proofed on bedrooms/bathrooms
-There is no fenced yard, so dogs need to be kept on leash or well-supervised and children supervised.
-The gazebo on the deck does not have a mosquito net.
-There is a path through the forest behind the house, but it is very natural and the first part is wetland and can be very wet and muddy depending on how much rain we've had, so rain boots may be needed. There may also be logs to climb over in places, which adds to the adventure, but may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
-This is a country home and we try to leave things as natural as possible to provide homes for pollinators and other Woodland creatures. We allow natural wildflowers to grow and only mow areas that are essential.
-The property is a former hobby farm, so there are remnants of this (horse structure, chicken coop, old greenhouse)
-There is a new house being built on the next lot beyond the barn so you may hear some construction sounds on the distance. The property limit is at the barn, so please don't walk behind that point.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

About the host

Hosted by Sarah and Sy

Host profile image
I'm originally from BC, but have lived in the Ottawa area (including Val-des-Monts) for many years. I enjoy walking my dogs, spending time in the forest, and reading. I love being a host because it brings me joy to share our amazing place with others. When guests tell me how much they love their time at Woodland Oasis, it makes my day every time!

Why they chose this property

The location of Woodland Oasis is the perfect mix of quiet, countryside retreat while still being close to the city and all amenities. The drive is easy and straight forward, even in winter. The property is only a few minutes to Perkins, where you can find most amenities and only 30 minutes from downtown Ottawa! And yet, when you are there, you are really surrounded by nature and peace and quiet.

What makes this property unique

My property is unique in that it includes 33 acres of field and forest for nature lover’s to enjoy. The house is charming and cozy and has everything you need. You can't see any neighbors homes from the house and so you have a lot of privacy and peace and quiet to relax and de-stress. Many animals live on the property or cross through (fox, deer, birds, frogs, etc).
