About this property
Home away from home in scenic coastal Alaskan rainforest
Come stay at the Breadline Bluff Lodging and share a stunning view with ravens, bald eagles, and more!
The Breadline Bluff is a stretch of coastline 20 miles north of downtown Juneau, Alaska, and 12 miles north of the Juneau airport (personal transportation is recommended). This “out-the-road” location means you’ll enjoy peace and quiet in one of the Juneau area’s most favorable micro-climates (ie least rainy!) and also be perfectly situated for hiking, camping, fishing, or boating adventures in one of our state parks or the Tongass National Forest. The local name 'Breadline' comes from the lines of small boats trolling for salmon along our shore in the spring, they're reminiscent of the great depression's breadlines of people lined up for food in many cities in the 1930s.
Our restful waterfront house is perched on a wooded lot and features beach access, a covered wrap-around deck,, grill, and all the comforts of home (laundry, full stove, television and high-speed internet).
The master bedroom has a queen bed with attached bathroom, a view of the ocean and private entrance onto the covered wrap-around deck. The east bedroom has an option of two extra-long twin beds or a king-sized bed. Also available- cots, air mattresses and a twin fold-out for extra sleepers!

Our entire home will be yours to enjoy (street number 20007A). We have an apartment over our attached garage where our property manager stays (street number 20007B). We have a car that shares the parking area.
The wildlife we welcome seeing include neighborhood black bears who visit in the spring and summer. They have always been benign and very easy to scare off but are big enough and fast enough to be potentially hurtful. We discourage them by keeping our trash inside the garage until collection morning and by keeping anything food related off our porches and decks (e.g. bird feed, smelly grills). And we discourage them by keeping up a cheerful noise when hiking near salmon streams in the summer. We often see whales (Humpback and Orca); we don't do anything to discourage them because they don't leave us with messes.
