Great location but I'm afraid the property needs attention. The main issue was that the verandah feels unsafe (bouncy and sloped) and in general the place feels rundown and unloved. Also, the house was not very clean with cobwebs and spiders in the corners, it needs a deep clean.

We take guest safety, comfort, and cleanliness very seriously. To address these issues thoroughly, we have already closed Duckbills Cottage to all future bookings so we can undertake extensive renovations and a comprehensive deep clean. We are currently only honoring existing preference reservations through the end of this month before closing to complete these improvements. Thank you again for your honest feedback, which has helped accelerate our plans to restore and refresh the property.

Unfortunately the property was not as dog friendly as we had hoped, our dog needed to be kept on the lead at all times outside as there was nowhere he could go due to the proximity of a busy road, very large snake and no fencing. Outside of property is quite old and in need of some repairs. Inside smelt musty on arrival and no screens to leave doors open. I would not want to stay in storm season with the large overhanging trees.

Great location with plenty of room for our family. Close to shops in Maleny and also to the huge number of tourist destinstions.Friendly and communicative host with nice touches like fresh flowers and local honey.Some board games for family play and easy to explore Obi Obi creek.Highly recommended.

Cottage close to town

Very well kept and equipped little cottage close to the brewery and everything else .The big backyard gives it the feeling of being hidden away . The main road is a little busy during the day ; you don’t hear it at all in the evening or at night .

Nice stay, but a bit pricey

The cottage is situated close to the Obi Obi Creek and has beautiful views to a lush tropical garden and the creek. Is is in any case right next to the pretty busy main road. The cottage is nicely decorated, even though refurbishment was somewhat cheaply done and without too much (technical) expertise. So nice to look at but with some flaws here and there, including a slight smell of mold, a dishwasher that does not work well, a small bathroom, a difficult exit to enter the main street by car, etc. Communication with Sally and information provided was very good. And also very kind that she provided us with wine and sparkling, cheese crackers, tea and coffee, very thoughtful. Overall a nice place to stay, a kind host and just a short stroll into town, which is great, but rather pricey for what you get.

Thanks for your honest feedback. As we are just starting out we strive to continually improve on the refurbishments and replace items. Yes the challenge of mould in the rainforests of Maleny is a common one and we have now installed a dehumidifer and will keep finding ways to improve the cottage. Glad you still had a nice stay!

A little hidden gem! So tranquil, cosy and comfortable - loved the fire pit, the nature walks nearby and being so close to town amenities was perfect! We loved our stay at Duckbills :)

Lovely little cottage with beautiful views. Sally was a dream to communicate with. Easy walk into town with brewery even closer. We even had a visit from an echidna whilst being around the campfire. A lovely experience
