Good hotel

Our swim in -swim out room was spacious, very clean and adequately supplied with basic kitchen equipment. The furniture inside and outside was very good condition and very very comfortable. The staff at reception were very helpful and friendly. Location is near a shopping area with bowling alley, supermarkets etc.

Large resort with Accommodation round a swimming pool which covers the entire propert. Gated and secure. On site independent restaurant. Shopping are across road. Loads of tourist attractions with 5-10 minute drive.

Comfortable room, excellent aircon unit, however the property is showing its age in several respects (peeling paint in the room, stained sofa, worn fittings, incomplete set of crockery which was mentioned to staff but not remedied during our stay). Friendly staff.

A little outdated, some of the amenities listed are not actually available or are very limited. No central area for lying by the pool so unless you are lucky enough to have a room overlooking the pool you end up on the grass or wherever you can find.

Not quite what it seems.

Room was clean but the rooms mainly 'look out' over the pool areas and these areas are very noisy most of the time. We requested room change but found the reception staff largly disinterested. Spoke to reception manager who was equaly poor.After three day stay we were glad to leave! Our room was supposed to be a 'serviced room'. It was not. Apprently it was because of the Easter Holiday period.If we had known that in advance we would have booked else where. (As a side perhaps it should not have been sold as a 'serviced apartment' or perhaps price adjusted to reflect that it was not serviced? It was also the only 'hotel' that we have stayed in that had no phone in the room. When we questioned this and asked for a phone at reception we were told that the room was actual owned privately and only managed by the hotel so they could not help! Only first 1/2 hour wifi included then charged P/H (not cheap). Never done a previous negative review before but my advice would be to make sure you really want to stay here before you book and not make the mistake that I did.

Spacious three-bed apartment with plunge pool

Fabulous - facilities excellent and the apartment was so clean and modern. Loved everything about it. Myself, my husband and daughter plus our 3 grandchildren have all just had the best holiday ever!! The restaurant was great and reasonably priced and happy hour a welcome bonus :)

A room with a pool.

We had a ground floor spacious room which opened onto a veranda and pool. I thought this was a special room, and it was, but as I swam around the pool, about 500 m, which encircled the accommodation, I saw that everyone gets this access.

Great Resort

The pool is amazing as it snakes its way right through the whole resort, like being in Venice. The modern Salamander Central Shopping Centre is only a block away; very convenient

Reception was busy (2pm) but we were dealt with quickly and efficiently, our room wasn't ready but we were allocated another that was. The hotel may not be in a seafront location but the lagoon style pool, beach areas and spas make up for it. Only a couple of minutes drive to Salamander Bay and Nelson Bay, both ideal for a quick dip and a shopping complex nearby if you're self catering. Great stay

Very Poor stay

From the time we arrived, we had problems with the room not being clean. We raised this with the hotel and said they would pass it on to the cleaners, nothing was done. the whole complex is not well run and it shows. Avoid at all costs

A disgrace of a hotel and horrendous service

The website for the Oaks Pacific Blue Hotel looked like the idyllic place. Unfortunately, our weekend could not have gone any more wrong and I would say the Oaks Pacific Blue Is by far the worst hotel I have ever visited. Firstly upon arrival, we were not placed in a room as the website suggested with idyllic views over a pool or gardens. We had no view at all and over looked a Harvey Norman over a busy road with no lights. We thought this might be just a mishap, therefore we would try and enjoy our time in the restaurant and bar area in the evening, where we were then told all the tables were fully booked. We were politely told that there was a shopping centre opposite, which offered all our catering needs including a McDonald’s and local tavern. That night, we were finally able to relax at the hotel bar, when at 9.30pm our drinks were poured into plastic containers as the bar closed and we were to revert to our room with no outside area to finish our drinks, on our bed. When I asked how much we could pay to upgrade our room, we were told there was a $50 check out fee just to change rooms and that they were fully booked. The next day, I politely raised our concerns to Jamie, the Reception Manager, and he was more than apologetic on the desk and raised they were not fully booked. He was happy to reimburse a night of our stay asking that we send an email highlighting our concerns. We have had no response.

Nice room and nice hotel

Hotel was lovely, shame about the restaurant, limited specialist food with not a great deal of choice and yet breakfast was fantastic, need to look at the choice of the evening menu. Check in was manic and I was given someone else's personal details with my name on the top, clearly a data protection issue.
