Great location

We chose the Ibis Styles Hauptbahnhof as we had stayed here previously and knew it would be comfortable and a great location. The hotel is right next to the train station so excellent for transport links both external and within Bochum. However, we were never disturbed by the noise of the trains. The breakfast here is variable and enjoyable. Something for all the family. The staff are friendly and helpful and I would definitely choose to stay here again.

Clean and tidy but poor lighting in rooms

The hotel was clean and tidy, as were the rooms, but they were fairly basic as one would expect. The one issue is that the lighting is not very good in the rooms so if you need to work once it is dark, the lighting is not really adequate enough. Other than that, the breakfast was sufficient and the location is excellent.

Dated hotel next to station.

Hotel conveniently right next to the station. Reception very dated. Rooms average condition, but bed comfortable and sheets clean. Good shower. Being next to the station is convenient - my room on the 2nd floor overlooked the platforms, however the station announcements start at 0615! Not an issue for me as I was up early, but you may want to request a room on the other side. Good breakfast selection of meat, cheese & eggs. Pancake/waffle machine not working. Coffee machine not working, but jugs of filter coffee were provided. Still plenty to eat & drink. Price was average for the area - certainly not a bargain. Fit for purpose hotel and I would stay here again.

Great location

We chose this hotel as we had booked to see Starlight Express and were arriving in Bochum by train. The location was perfect (right next to the train station) and it was just a short cab ride (8 euros) to the Starlighthalle. The hotel was clean and spacious, the breakfast was delicious and regularly topped up, and the staff pleasant and welcoming. Easy to walk into Bochum centre for shopping. Although it is next to the train station, you can't hear the trains as the rooms overlook the other side. I would recommend this hotel particularly if visiting Starlight Express. (Which was also awesome by the way!)

Modestly priced hotel next to central rail station

Good location, and generally good value for money. The facilities are adequate if basic. The downside for me: the station attracts revellers at night who can generate a lot of noise...not conducive to a good night's sleep.

Ok for one night

I thought Ibis Styles were the better version of Ibis? This was fine for one night (twin room), however extremely dated, with none of the added benefits an modernisation of other Ibis Styles worldwide.

Football weekend

We were on a "lad's weekend" watching football in Bochum on Friday night and then Schalke on the Saturday morning. This hotel suited us fine, right next to the train station and close to the bars and restaurants of the town.

Hotel overlooks railway station

Very handy for the station - part of the same building. You don't hear the trains, though. Hotel is being renovated at present (Sept 2014) so some inconvenience. Staff quite helpful.
