Funchal hotels

Quinta Esperanca is very special. It is a beautiful old characterful house with lovely gardens but with modern facilities in the studio. It is easy to get into Funchal and enjoy all the city has to offer. We loved to return back to our terrace after dinner to watch the lights come on across the city as darkness fell.

Six of us stayed at Casa dos Francelhos for a week. Antonio greeted us on arrival and provided lots of help regarding walking routes, restaurants and attractions.The house is really well furnished and has all we needed for out stay.Thank you Antonio for a great stay in Madeira.

Absolutely wonderful studio apartment in the top floor. Views out of the bedroom of thr Mercado! Couldn’t fault it for cleanliness and customer service. Everything was spotless and it is a really central location with the old town , restaurants and other amenities only a short walk away! Very happy with our stay here, thank you! ☺️

We had a wonderful stay in Frederica’s apartment . One of the best I have stayed in . It is a very spacious apartment and two couples could stay there very comfortably. Frederica had added a lot of little touches to welcome us which was greatly appreciated. The bus into central Funchal was 20 meters from the door so really easy lots of restaurants on the lower level streets and a lovely bakery for morning coffee and breakfast. Highly recommended.

The property was as described and provided a very comfortable base. The property is within easy walking distance of Funchal city centre and the restaurants and amenities of the Lido area. Please be aware though that, if you have any mobility or respiratory issues, it is a steep walk back! We hired a car, a Qashqui, which was on the large side for the awkward gateway and parking arrangement. It was wonderful however to have the independence of a car to explore the island! The property is on a working banana plantation and we loved seeing some of them being harvested. It was amazing to experience this so close to the city centre and we felt privileged to stay in this quiet and secluded spot with so much still on our doorstep! We stayed three weeks and the property received a thorough clean and new bed linen, towels etc each week.

The apartment was amazing, the view from the living room and the balcony was 10 star rating, actually the whole apartment is aswell, Rose Marie had everything you needed and more she greeted us at the apartment, then showed us around gave us loads of information about supermarket's, trips,other area's of interest. I would highly recommend this amazing apartment to stay at,to visit this fantastic island of Maderia

Funchal, Madeira and this property are beautiful. You will want to return. The villa is located within 10-15 mins walk of the old town, via cobbled streets and quite a sharp walk back up the road. We found a wonderful range of cafes and restaurants and enjoyed every meal. Everything we needed was supplied, a great kitchen and good quality furnishings. The temperature was 30c+ during our stay in October and a floor or desk fan in the living room would’ve been lovely. All 3 bedrooms had air-con which was much appreciated. We made good use of the south facing veranda with its comfy chairs and sun-loungers. Watching the ocean going traffic, including the arrival of one of the world’s largest cruise ships and Navel vessels patrolling the area, was fun. Mirela the housekeeper was on hand to offer advice as required (taxis etc). Her kind help evicting a rogue lizard from the basement bedroom was appreciated - she even changed the bed linen (it has snuck in the bed!). The welcome pack contained excellent fresh bread which encouraged us to find the local bakery for more - asap! The little narrow street in front of the house can be (infrequently) noisy - from the delivery lads on their scooters or the early morning workers. My sister said it was the best property, which felt like home, we have ever stayed at (and we have stayed at many properties over many years). We all agreed. The 6 of us adults loved it and Joy, the owner was very helpful e.g. good advice to book the restaurant on the Porto Santo ferry on the outbound route for our return journey back to Funchal.
