Find oceanfront rentals near Ashfield Lake

This was our first visit to New England, timed to see the famous autumn colours. At home in the UK we live in the countryside, and don't like towns very much! The Clearing was perfect for us - wonderfully peaceful and isolated yet within easy driving of some of the region's wonderful sites. Nothing was more than an hour away. Going west on the Mohawk Trail the colours just got better and better, and we enjoyed diving off on to even smaller quiet roads. We walked some forest trails, and took John's advice to visit Mount Graylock on our last day ( nice and quiet on a Friday - don't do it at the weekend unless you want to spend time waiting in traffic to get a parking space!). The accommodation is lovely, a real home from home. It's really well designed, and everything works. John has obviously given a lot of thought to the needs of his guests. We were blessed with wonderful warm sunny days, but chilly evenings meant we could feel justified in lighting the log fire and feeling really cosy! A great place to stay, thank you John and Joyce.

We can highly recommend The Nestled Inn. It is home away from home. The accommodation although basic is very clean and all that you require. The owners are on hand, but not intrusive,if you require any help and are very knowledgeable about the area and willing to help in any way they can.I cannot rate this property highly enough, and would hope that we can revisit sometime soon , although we live in England.

We had an absolutely fabulous time staying at this beautiful house and its lovely surroundings for a month this fall (2016) while visiting from England. The very private setting and views were spectacular and the gardens beautifully kept. We made abundant use of the large vegetable plots which the owner encouraged us to use. The house was spacious, comfortable and well-equipped, and in all respects reflected the owner's descriptions. The kitchen was large and a joy to cook in. The owner could not have been nicer, more generous and helpful. The town of Ashfield and its surroundings (including Shelburne Falls) offer a broad range of amenities and attractions,: a large network of hiking trails, numerous farm stores, local art galleries, music and theatre venues. Ashfield has an extensive convenience store, a friendly café, and bar/restaurant located on the shore of the lovely Ashfield Lake. The university towns of Northampton and Amherst are easily accessible. We would love to return to this exceptional rental next year, and would not hesitate to recommend it to our friends and relatives.
