Beautiful quiet countryside, 15 minutes to everything!

Beautiful country setting, very comfortable and serene. Bettina and Christophe are amazing hosts. They responded quickly to every request & question and took care of all our needs. Private, quiet setting and only 15 to 30 minutes drive to groceries, markets and medival villages. Highly recommend!

wonderful stay

Bettina and Olivia were brilliant hosts. The welcome drinks to meet the other guests was a lovely added touch. The Gite itself was perfect for our needs and had everything we needed for our stay. The welcome booklet had lots of really useful information too. We were very sad to leave. Thank you both for a wonderful stay. Hopefully we'll see you again in the not too distant future.

Magical place

We had a very pleasant week at Perrot. The gite is ideally located should you want a get-away-from-it-all break in the gentle Perigord countryside with several local walks from the door yet the tourist attractions of the Dordogne valley are a relatively short drive away. We visited during a hot spell and appreciated the cool of the rustic gite and our 8-year-old loved the swimming pool and games room in the large grounds. The hosts Bettina and Christophe were extremely welcoming, helpful and friendly. They were there if needed, but otherwise the gite and its outside eating/relaxing area was discretely private. Highly recommended!

Great family spot for exploring Dordogne

Bettina and Christophe were wonderful and welcoming hosts. They made sure we had everything we needed, and our two young children especially loved the children's playroom. We had some rainy weather while visiting, and the playroom offered a great opportunity for the kids to play with new (to them) and exciting toys. I highly encourage anyone who visits to take advantage of the Full Fridge service that Bettina and Christophe offer. We didn't, and we wished that we had because the closest grocery stores had hours that didn't really mesh with sightseeing, and we hadn't considered that beforehand. All in all, a lovely stay, and we only wished that we had stayed longer!

What an amazing place! Bettina and Christophe were fantastic hosts who from beginning to the end of our stay ( and prior to!) went above and beyond to accommodate our every request and answer every query that we had. Excellent communication. A babysitter ( who was excellent ) was found so we could attend an evening wedding reception and Christophe drove us himself in the evening so we could enjoy the reception. The accommodation was well equipped with everything we needed and the play “ barn” a great help entertaining the children when it rained. The pool area is lovely and for peace of mind it is alarmed which was good as we had young children with us .. The children enjoyed the various animals on the estate from cats/rabbits/ducks and even goats! We were also lucky enough to see a wild Boar on our drive home from the wedding reception with Christophe! We took advantage of the full fridge service which made the first evening much easier and the bakery delivery to the door in the morning was also a great service. Bettina's welcome guide to the property answers all the day to day queries a visitor might have regarding their stay and is also a comprehensive guide to local facilities and attractions. During the stay I was able to communicate with Bettina through wats app if I had any small queries and nothing was too much trouble for her.We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to stay again .. thank you Bettina and Christophe.

Not a great stay

Having read all other reviews we were very excited to visit the property. Unfortunately it didn’t live up to expectations. We privately messaged the owner with what we thought about our stay to give them a chance to respond without the need to write it in the review. It turns out that everything was indeed our fault or the owners became very defensive. We did turn up 1 hour 30 mins early but due to a very long drive we couldn’t be completely accurate. Brittany was outside and you could tell she wasn’t happy about this. So my wife said we would sit in the car until the property was ready. We were allowed to check in but we didn’t feel that welcome. We weren’t shown around or explained anything about the property. All the instructions were in French or German (we are English)so we had no idea about anything. We saw Brittany on the odd occasion and Christophe never bothered welcoming us or talk to us throughout the whole stay. The property wasn’t as clean as it should have been. The back door window was broken and did not close fully allowing insects in. The shower holder was broken so we had to hold it about our heads with one hand. The washing up draining tray was all rusty which made my wife feel sick having to put clean washing up on. In reply to our email Brittany said she wasn’t aware of any of this but surely you would check everything was perfect for new guests. We bagged all the rubbish up before we left. We didn’t know what to do with it as wasn’t told or couldn’t read instructions. Brittany felt the need in her response to say that we left it. I think she should make more effort to be clear as we would have done what we were asked to if we knew. Upon leaving, are car was parked outside the owners window. No one came out to see us off or to see if we had a nice stay, I mentioned this in my email but the response was “what we we suppose to do wait outside from 8am to 10am”. I think you would hear the suitcases being loaded and as a host be listening out. We left at 10am so wasn’t at an unusual time. We have enjoyed other properties in the Dordorgne much better and for less money.

Oliver, I am still sad and disappointed to read all these charges from your side now that you have left our Domain. As already said before, communication involves more than one person. I was not "defensive" when writing to you, and I did not say that "everything was your fault". I have just replied to every single point, and this is what I will do by now as well. You seemed to be very engaged to write this review, and I hope that you feel better now that it has been done. Just note that my name is Bettina and not Brittany (ouch ! ), and that I still do not appreciate that you have left our Domain last Sunday without saying good bye. You could have come to our place, send me a WhatsApp or inform me the day before about your presumed leaving time. I have the impression that your review is a kind of vengeance as I pointed out your rudeness. Just a feeling. Concerning the different items you mentioned : When you arrived 1.5 hours before the announced arrival time, I asked you if you indicated the UK time when confirming your venue ;). Obviously you did not understand this touch of humour. But there was clearly no problem for me to let you enter into the guest house before time. I am surprised to read that you did not feel welcome. I said and did exactly the same as for all our other guests before (who obviously appreciated our hospitality) : I was personnally there to welcome you, and every time I saw you I asked you if everything was fine - which was the case until your departure in haste. I also gave you some ideas for visiting the places next to our Domain. You are pointing out that you are English. Indeed Oliver... and I am German, we were both in France when we met each other, and we had to find a way to communicate. From my side, ok for French and German ! And I will try to make more effort to being clear in English as well. It is too bad that you had no idea about anything... The shower holder had only to be rescrewed. During your stay, I have asked you if you wanted us to go into the guesthouse in order to repair it, but you refused. We have done it by now, thank you for having pointed this out. The back door window is not broken, there was only the wooden frame to be refixed. And I did not find any rust on the draining tray. It is funny to read that your wife felt sick having to put clean washing up on as you did not do any washing during your short stay at our place. Please just be so kind as not to treat me as a liar ; aside from you, no one complained about these two items. Concerning the missing cleanliness you mentioned, you are hurting me deeply as I have cleaned the whole house before your venue, and everything was ok when you entered in. It was in this context that I mentioned the rubbish of your whole stay that you left in the guesthouses' entry. You should perhaps keep your own things in order before requiring others to do so... Last but not least, you are comparing our guesthouse with other houses you have visited in Dordogne, but did you compare the whole delivery ? A 6-persons-guesthouse, a very big garden, a nice swimming pool (available just for you and your family, lucky you...), ... Note that I do not understand the person you are, nor why you need to write those things instead of saying them to me directly. I have never experienced such a bad faith since the beginning of our activity in 2020. Wishing you all the best for the futur... and much more luck when chosing your next holiday rental. Kind regards, Bettina

Wir hatten traumhafte fünf Tage in einer sehr liebevoll arrangierten Unterkunft. Die Begrüßung war äussert herzlich und die Gastgeber standen uns jederzeit mit Rat und Tat zur Seite.
