We had a great weekend at the cabin. It was a very peaceful location. The beds were very comfortable. Our little dog enjoyed exploring outside (on her leash).
While our stay was not long, we loved this cozy, charming and comfortable cabin. It had all the amenities we needed and more. The owners are friendly and responsive. We had a great stay. Our two dogs loved it there too!

Thank you for the kind review Marilyn! We enjoyed hosting you guys and would love to host you again sometime! Also glad the dogs enjoyed it!
The ol' gun range cabin was nothing short of magical. The cabin its self was clean and nicely maintained. It has tons of character and is pretty cool. The hot tub was nice as well as the firepit area. If you are looking to disconnect and enjoy nature this is your place.
The Ol Gun Range Cabin is a wonderful place to escape and relax. 20 minutes from the nearest main road, it is quiet and secluded. This cabin had everything a family needs for a get-away: outdoor grill (think campground style), fire ring, hot tub, and large porch. The owners were quick to respond to text. We will likely return to this cabin in the future.

If you are looking for a place to get away, this is it.
I felt like the yard and around the house needed some attention. Inside the house was very clean and the beds were comfy. It's only 15 to 20 mins. To Cherokee. We loved being able to have our dogs with us.
This was a short weekend stay, but we had wished we had booked the cabin for longer! It was well kept and the beds were wonderful with bed linens that were super soft! The cabin was secluded and up in the mountains. Everything was as described on the listing. We didn't need to contact the hosts about any problems. We will be visiting this property again.
Quiet, remote cabin surrounded by deep forest tranquility. Cabin is beautiful, clean, and very comfortable. We slept better there then we have in years!
Only downfall’s is that it’s located on a steep gravel road that runs over a mile long straight up into the mountain, and the upstairs bathroom door needs to be replaced because it’s really hard to open.
All in all, we would definitely recommend this to hunters, nature lovers or anyone looking to take a break from city life!

We appreciate your review Holly. As advertised this is a secluded cabin in the woods with located 1.5 miles on a state maintained gravel road. If you’ve never been to the mountains of Western NC we have many, many gravels roads. This is one of the better ones for sure. That being said we encourage all guests looking to book with us to take a look at the description of the property as well as the guest information webpage that we send out to all guests at the time of booking. We give tips, tricks, even an instruction video for those who have never been to this area or on a gravel road in the mountains. We want our guests to have a great experience with us which means provided the exact place and experience we state on VRBO and our information website. Our contact information is also listed everywhere and we are always available during normal hours to report any issues. We rely on our guests for that information during their stay:)

SECLUDED LOCATION
THE CABIN WAS NICE BUT DIDN"T NECESSARILY LIVE UP TO THE PICTURES. THE DESCRIPTION NEEDS TO BE VERY DETAILED ABOUT HOW SECLUDED AND STEEP THE DRIVE TO IT IS. WOULD NEVER WANT TO STAY THERE AGAIN. SINCE WE WERE NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE AREA IT MADE IT DIFFICULT TO DECIDE ON WHICH CABIN TO PICK.

We are certainly disappointed to hear from you after your stay is over that you were not pleased with the accommodations. Unfortunately, when booking through a 3rd party site such as VRBO we are not in full control of where they place descriptions. In any case we are all about providing great vacations in an outdoor adventure paradise. We would never want anyone to book with us thinking this was a city area such as a Gatlinburg or Asheville. If booking through VRBO, please review the description and specifically the location description which informs you about the gravel road(extremely common in this remote part of Western NC). If for some reason it is missed, upon booking we provide a very detailed "guest information and area information webpage" for our guests. We detail the two switchback turns and gravel road there and even provide driving tips for this who have never been on a mountain road via a 3 minute overview video. In any event, I am told by almost all guests that I overstate the steepness of the road and that they get used to it after a time or two up and down. As stated in the tile this is a "secluded" cabin in the woods; yet only 10 miles from all the adventure in Bryson City and Cherokee. We are always available for any questions that arise at the time of booking or after.

A great place to disconnect to reconnect
Cabin was great. Location was secluded private & quiet. Exactly what we needed. We wonder into town visited the shops around main st and everyone was very friendly. We took a ride on the polar express for the kids and they absolutely loved it. We also visited the Darnell farms went on a hay ride to the pumpking patch and got lost in the corn maze, they had live music, dance performers and warm apple cider. We really spent most of the time on and around the property; the boys & hub went on an exploration hike that took their breath away “literally”. Roasted marshmallows and hotdogs by the fire pit, relaxed on the porch taking in the scenery & listening to the sound of the creek TOTAL RELAXATION! Hope to be back soon.

Thank you for the kind review Jazz. Thats exactly what the property is all about. Getting away from it all and enjoy nature, the company of others, etc! So glad you were able to do that and we would be happy to host you again someday! Thank you again for staying with us!
The ol gun range was an awesome place. Very beautiful, and when they say secluded, they mean it. It is high up in the mountain with a very pretty drive all the way up. A nice creek runs along the road the whole way up, and just below the yard of the cabin the creek runs. You can hear it from the porch of the house. We did have car issues getting there though. We knew it was steep from the reviews, so I can’t blame anyone else. My wife’s Toyota Highlander couldn’t make it past a certain section of the gravel road up. I kept putting it down to first gear and getting speed up, everything, and it would get to a spot and just start spinning. So luckily I had my pickup truck and the local golf club allowed us to park her suv there and we would take my truck up to the cabin. Overall a very nice place. I would be nervous about taking small children in case of an accident though because it does take a good while to get into town. We loved it though.
The view is beautiful and parts of the cabin are as well. But there was mildew on the bathroom ceiling and biting bugs in the downstairs bedroom. The hot tub was over done with chemicals which made us itch. The furniture was chained down which made us wonder about the neighborhood safety. The host was argumentative when we told him about the mildew and hot tub issue. He asked for pics we sent them and no response. The bed downstairs is very lumpy(huge lumps). The upstairs bedroom has no curtains or anything on window. The furniture was cheap and not in good shape. There are much better options out there.

Unfortunately this is a classic retaliatory review so I will only respond for those viewing. We are in a remote area of Western NC with nothing but woods and nature surrounding us. Please do not book here if you are looking for something in the city. We have lots of bugs and wildlife but do not have "biting bugs" inside now or in the past. We have standard quarterly pest control that guarantees such. If an issue arises we can send the Pest control company out if we are informed during the stay. The cabin isn't in a neighborhood at all but is obviously one of the safest locations in the world. We do have issues that arise with short term rental guests and outdoor furniture so a few years ago to help ensure the furniture would be on the deck and not in the yard broken we placed chains through the rockers. Not at all a neighborhood safety issue. This guests informed me they had many allergies including respiratory and chlorine. We do not even use Caroline in our hot tubs and there isn't any on site; never has been. In any case, we even drained and refilled the hot tub for them. There is no trace of mold whatsoever. There was a slight discoloration of the paint in a spot upon review of the photo. Please see all reviews all across the web for an accurate review. Again, this is a cabin in the woods so there isn't always a need for any additional privacy measures like in a city.
Great remote property not far from town… it’s a cozy cabin with a big yard.. lower level bedroom/ bathroom and upper level bedroom/bathroom. Decorated cute for Christmas with lights and a tree …would definitely stay again.
Great and comfortable place to stay! The dogs especially appreciated the ol' gun range to walk around every day. Plenty of places for us to sit in the living room to converge. The beds were especially comfortable.
The only things that would have made it perfect were if there were some extras (more paper towel, some foil or plastic wrap.) and if there were decent frying pans. The nonstick pans that were there were kinda gross and unusable. If going to provide cheap pans instead of nice ones, at least replace them when yucky.

Thank you for your review Michelle. We are glad you enjoyed yourselves at the cabin and hopefully out and about in the area which is what its all about! The cooking pans are a tough situation in a busy vacation rental. We don’t even provide non stick pans because guests use every utensil on them them shouldn’t. We only provide the stainless pans and utensils for that reason. We have to take our own non-stick pan everywhere we go on vacation for this reason as well. It’s tough to keep them nice and functional. Thanks again!
Loved that it was so far away in the woods away from it all. But no lights for hot tub at night think goodness I brought a flashlight Laneran . Need some more bowls only had one big bowl and it wouldn’t fit in micawave . Had to leave all the food in the pans . Lights was in strange places. Lock on door was was hard to lock .
Brian and Sarah have great communication. The cabin was clean and well maintained, very nice and Very secluded and peaceful. This was perfect to relax for my family. Not to far from alot of interesting things bust also far enough away to be out in the country and deep in the mountains.
We sincerely appreciate Brian and Sarah for accommodating our stay at this beautiful and unique location! The cabin is unmatched, nestled in the mountains away from it all; and our experience was made all the more special by the history of this cabin. This retreat was exactly the experience our family needed!
Definitely a unique stay at the old gun range. We enjoyed our family trip very much. It was relaxing and cabin was off the beaten path. We brought our family dog with us so the downstairs area was perfect was her and the kids. We also enjoyed the grounds around the cabin. We had s’mores a couple of times:) A nice get-a-away for sure!

Another benefit of booking with us is the experience and level of control we have over our property. My wife Sarah and I manage the property ourselves and therefore control cleaning products that are used in the home. Our goal is to have as chemical free environment as possible. We proudly use Mrs. Meyers products, hydrogen peroxide based(bleach free) bathroom cleaner, paraben free naturally derived body wash, and 100% natural essential oils for our cabin’s signature scent. The hot tub is chlorine free; we use Bromine, a safer way to sanitize the spa.
