About this property
Spacious, self-contained apartment nestled in the Brecon Beacons National Park
The very spacious Top Floor accommodation at Cantref House, rated 4 stars by Visit Wales, is part of a large family home but is fully self-contained with its own private entrance, accessible via an outdoor staircase.
The apartment is brightly decorated with a quirky charm and offers stunning views of the Brecon Beacons from the lounge, bedroom, and balcony. There’s also a cosy reading room featuring a telescope for stargazing in the Dark Sky Reserve, along with maps, leaflets, and books about the local area. You can even use the provided bat detector to watch bats from the nearby church.
The outdoor balcony, accessed from the kitchen, is perfect for alfresco dining, relaxing or even bird watching too! Upon arrival, enjoy complimentary tea, coffee, milk, a bottle of wine and a few items for a snack or your first breakfast. Essentials like bed linen, towels, toiletries, and kitchen necessities are all included. Parking is conveniently located at the foot of the outdoor staircase.
Cantref is a peaceful rural parish, ideal for walkers of all levels. Hike to Pen y Fan, the highest point in the Brecon Beacons, or enjoy gentle, scenic walks along the canal towpath into Brecon. The area also offers numerous circular walks through local lanes.
Brecon itself is home to a variety of annual festivals, including Brecon Jazz, Brecon Choir Festival, and Brecon Baroque Festival. The town also features a cinema and Theatre Brycheiniog, hosting a diverse range of performances, from ballet to opera, drama, and comedy, as well as live screenings from venues like London’s National Theatre. The nearby cathedral offers lunchtime concerts and more. Don’t forget, you're in the heart of a Dark Sky Reserve, perfect for stargazing.
We greet guests on arrival and are available if needed, but otherwise, you’ll enjoy complete privacy. We're always happy to assist with recommendations for walks, cycling routes, scenic drives, or local dining spots.
