Clean, great location to stay, fantastic fish cleaning area, easy to park the boat and people in charge were around if we needed anything. We hope to be back!
My husband and I had a great weekend away here! The location is great— very close to Lakeside, Marblehead and Catawba Island were easy drives. A word of advice, if you’re visiting in the fall, be sure to pack appropriately, there is not central heating and cozy pjs and sweaters were a must!
The bottom bunk bed was not comfortable and the bed frame made noise with every movement. Close to great restaurants, bait shops, attractions and parks. Overall, the cottage was great. We will return.
Property was exactly as advertised. Our stay with our 2 small dogs was ideal. We were there for an annual event hosted by a friend on Johnson Island. We had previously stayed in the dog friendly BW and that was awful. This cute little cottage with ample outdoor space was perfect. Very quiet and peaceful, would definitely do it again!
It was a wonderful relaxing time. I would highly recommend that house to anyone. I also wanted to thank Brad for getting sheets for us . I missed the email on what to bring but they went above and beyond. We Will definitely be back!! Jim and Cindy

Nice cottage, Perfect location
We really enjoyed our stay and will be booking again for next summer. The cottage is small but nice, clean and comfortable. The location is perfect, right in the middle of Catawba and Marblehead, close to several good restaurants and public launch ramps. It was a short walk to the lake and boat docks were we had our boats tied up and left them in all week. The only draw back was that there is no electricity on the docks to charge the trolling motors. There was also plenty of room to park our trucks and boat trailers.
Property was clean and stay was relaxing
Only draw back is the neighboring trailer park. Not a problem but it is residential so kind of took away from the “cottage” feel when sitting around the fire. Other than that our stay was great!!

We had a privacy fence but the State of Ohio took it down so they could run their lines underground for dredging the harbor. It "should" be replaced this winter. Once it's back up you'll never know it was there.
The cottage is very simple, which is accurately described in the listing. It is close to the water however you can’t see the water from the cottage and the only access to the water is on a very dated little pier. If you don’t mind not seeing the water from your cottage, this is no issue at all.
Within driving distance (10-15 minutes) from most everything, but not in the middle of the hustle and bustle. Hosts are very friendly and helpful with excellent communication!
Had a double booking, so the hosts put us into a trailer, which was ok with us. They were very apologetic, and tried their best to be accommodating. We had a good stay.
We were very pleased and will definitely consider staying there again. Great experience.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, location
smaller than expected
The 2nd bedroom with the bunk bed was very small, there was no window AC for that room, just a box fan. Window AC in the main room and the other bedroom. Very small bath. The bunk bed was so tight in the 2nd bedroom that it could not be moved out to access both sides of the bed, so my husband had to climb up and down from the top single bunk all week. The house is fine for 3 people or maybe a couple and some kids, but not for 2 couples. My only direct communication with Brad, was the day we checked in, after that I could only get a response through a text, or several texts, or through the other longtime renters that were there, that would relay his messages. All in all, I was a bit disappointed in the stay.
We where up fishing Lake Erie, the owner was very helpful and the house was perfect for our group.

BRIEF HISTORY
Rock Harbor Cottages has been in the family since 1946. When the Marsho Family purchased the property it was a pear orchard. Down by the dock in the hedge row remain the last of the pear trees. Everything on the property was built by the family. Everything you see has a history and a story, even the large maple trees. Frank Marsho (Pam's Grandfather) hand dug the saplings from behind the Mayfield Village Service Dept and planted them for generations to enjoy, now many of them are 60 - 80 ft tall. The current owners, Brad & Pam Miller, acquired the property in April of 2013.
The first building built was the Boathouse by the dock which actually is a 2 story building. The upper level was divided by curtains into 3 bedrooms. To get downstairs you have to go through a trap door in the floor and down a flight of steps. The lower level contained the kitchen with a wood burning stove and living area. Over the last summer we worked hard and restored the interior to its original wood and created a nice little hangout. If you ever see the door open come on in and enjoy the view with us.
The next addition was the original dock which is actually still visible underneath the present dock. It was built by stacking stones out into the water and was eventually topped with concrete. In 1969 a storm had decimated the harbor, destroying the beach at the property and the dock. In 1971 the first posts were driven for the dock that still stands today.
The second building constructed was the "Old Cottage" or #3. It was built in the early 1950's and was actually ordered from the Sears and Roebuck Catalogue. Arriving as a pile of precut lumber, the family pulled together and put it up quickly. The interior is small and quaint and is now only rented on a seasonal basis.
"Aunt Ann's" #1 and the "New Cottage" #2 were both built together in the mid 1960's. Both cottages are basically the same design with the new cottage having an extra 200 square feet of space.
