Perfect Location

Our stay was amazing. Filippo was wonderful. Check in was so easy. We were getting in a little late so we were given instructions on how to enter the house and we had zero issues. You were a 30 second walk to the duomo and so many shops and restaurants.! I would 100% stay here again.

Nice retreat in historic Florence

Highly recommended. Would stay here again. Great location near the Duomo. Listing is accurate. Walking distance to the historic sites. 15 minute walk to the train station. There is noise at night as expected for such a central location.

Beautiful Apartment!

We had a wonderful stay! Just a block from the Duomo! Very comfortable! Enjoyed the artwork, washer and dryer, and full kitchen! There are a couple flights of stairs to get up to the apartment, but our family had no problem with them. The building is charming and historic. Thank you Filippo and Caterina!

Perfect!!

This is apartment is not only beautiful but beautifully situated down the street from the Duomo Piazza. We were 4 adults (our children are 22and 25) and were very comfortable. Our hosts were very responsive before our trip and Caterina met us there to be sure we were comfortable. She is lovely. We walked everywhere....and yes, there is the best Gelato down the street. We loved our stay and would highly recommend it.

This is the place to rent in Florence

We stayed for 3 nights in October 2010 and it was wonderful! It exceeded our expectations we really felt that it was the best place in Italy that we stayed at and we did stay in several places. This apartment was very well equiped with everything that one would need to make it feel like home. We were very surprised at how they thought of everything that we would need. It was truly amazing and location was the best. We will continue to tell everyone about this place! Anyone going to Florence needs to rent this place, you will not be disappointed!

Amazing Apartment!

Thank you Filippo and Caterina for letting us stay in your beautiful apartment. We spent 2 weeks in Italy, and travelled all over, but decided Florence and your home was our favorite. The location is perfect, close to everything! We asked around and found an amazing Gelatoria (Vestri) within a 5 min walk from your place heading the opposite direction from the Duomo. It was so nice to spend the day exploring Florence and come home to a comforting apartment. Thanks Again!

Lovely Apartment with great location

We had a great time a spent New year's eve in Florence. The location of the apartment was excellent as it close to everything. Apartment itself was kept very nice and tidy and decorated tastefully. The only unpleasant experience for us is the street noise usually during wee hours. Other than that, we had a wonderful time so "Thank you Caterina and Filippo for an great stay. "

Perfect Apartment

We loved our short stay in Casacaterina. So close to the Duomo, and very comfortable for our family of 4. Our girls said their beds reminded them of home. There are a few flights of stairs (2nd floor), so beware if you can't manage your luggage up the stairs. We were met, and had the apartment all explained to us when we arrived. It was so nice to be in an apartment after hotel rooms. The washing machine very much appreciated. Would not hesitate to stay again if we found ourselves in Florence.

The perfect place to stay in Florence.

We stayed at the apartment for two weeks. Filippo greeted us when we arrived at the apartment and provided all the information we needed for our stay. The apartment was very clean and obviously well maintained. It was a comfortable place to stay and Filippo was very attentive to all requests and questions that we had. The location could not be beat. It is within walking distance to all the main attractions in Florence and only 15 minutes walking to the train station. (We took several day trips and it was great to have the station nearby.) A small grocery store is right next door, and a larger one just a 5 minute walk. When we come back to Florence we will stay here again.

Hi Fillippo and Caterina ...

Hi Fillippo and Caterina - We spent the 2nd week ofJune 2009 at the lovely Casa Caterina. Just a block from the Duomo, it couldn't have been in a better location. We loved having access to the apartment's computer and internet. That was a real treat. There were four of us, my husband, myself, my 23 year old daughter and 16 year old son so having two bathrooms was really a treat. We're already recommending your pleace to others. Thanks again!

Charming

My husband, daughter, son-in-law and I spent 5 days in Florence in May and it was wonderful. I can- not say enough nice things about Casa Caterina and Florence. The apartment was in a great location and so clean and homey. It was great to be able to go out and explore the city and come back to this beautiful apartment to get grab a nap or a quick snack. It was a bit noisy at night but like others mentioned it is in city center. You can tell that Caterina takes very good care of the apartment and keeps it very clean. There was everything you could possibly need right where you would expect it to be. We would most definitely recommend this apartment to anyone visiting Florence and we would stay here again if we are lucky enough to have a chance to return.

wonderful, beautifully decorated apartment in the center of the action

The apartment was in a great location, just a short block from the Duomo, with a convenient grocery store just next door. The apartment had everything we needed, from laundry soap to tea bags to a little vin santo we sampled! Caterina was very warm and welcoming and she was very responsive to emails and phone calls. The apartment was clean and the pictures represented the apartment well. The bells from the Duomo rang early in the morning but that was ok as we are early risers. But it was nice to get out and walk around the Duomo area before the hoards of tour groups arrived. We had a great time in Florence and I would highly recommend this place to family and friends. The location made getting to all the sites very easy and within short walking distance. Thanks Caterina and Filippo for a wonderful stay in Florence!

Fantastic

This is a lovely, clean, spacious apartment in a prime location. My husband, 16-year-old daughter and I spent three nights here in March 2014 and definitely would stay here again as well as recommend it. Look out the front window down the street and you can see the duomo a block away. There is a small store with a good wine selection as well as foods just two doors down. It has wifi and a well appointed kitchen with a separate dining room. it is beautifully decorated and has a good floor plan such that everyone has space and some privacy. It has a washer and dryer in a spacious laundry room. The spacious full bathroom has a separate shower and bathtub and two sinks. A second powder room off the master bedroom was very nice too. We walked everywhere, including from the train station when we arrived. The only time we took a cab was to the airport and there is a busy cab stand one block away by the duomo. Caterina was very lovely when she greeted us at the apartment. A great VRBO find.

Beautiful and comfortable

This our second visit to Casa Caterina in two years and we will definitely go back whenever we are in Florence. Filippo and Caterina provide outstanding accommodation in the heart of the city. The apartment is spotless and comfortable, with all the cooking equipment we needed to provide our own meals. The main bedroom is air conditioned and has its own toilet and basin though you have to share the shower and tub in the main bathroom. The internet is fast and reliable. We appreciated the washing machine and dryer as well as the dishwasher. Caterina leaves supplies of all sorts of items including toilet paper, coffee, washing powder and so forth to make life easier on your arrival and there is a great little supermarket right next door. The location is fantastic, a couple of minutes walk to the duomo, but you must be aware that in the centre of a city like Florence there will be noise. The hospital is around the corner so ambulances go past, and revellers going home at all hours of the morning can make quite a racket in the street. We view this is the price you pay to be in the centre of the action and just shut the windows before we go to sleep. We walked to the Sant'Ambrogio market most days to shop for food and enjoyed being able to come home for lunch or a rest or to drop off some shopping during the day. We heartily recommend Casa Caterina to anyone visiting Florence.

Surpassed our expectations in every way.

Casa Caterina is a true gem. We were blown away when we arrived and realized just how big and beautiful this apartment is. We'd read the reviews and had reasonably high expectations but we were amazed at just how great this place was. The owners have thought of every last detail to make their guests stay comfortable, convenient and inspiring. The artwork and decor throughout the space is excellent, the location is perfect -- a few minutes walk to the Duomo and yet still far enough away to be out of the "tourist zone", fully equipped kitchen, super clean, comfortable bed, huge master bathroom, the internet connection worked flawlessly... it simply was a perfect stay and has made us firm believers in VRBO (although we don't expect all VRBO's to be as great as this one was). Caterina met us and was very lovely and helpful in getting us settled for our stay. After a long day touring the Uffizi and Galleria Academia we came back and enjoyed a couple beers, kebabs and baklava (from the kebab place just 2 minutes up the street) in "our" spacious & ultra relaxing living room. One of our favourite Florence experiences was our night out at the nearby Teatro del Sale where we were treated to the Italian gourmet feast of a lifetime (and live musical performance that followed the feast) by local celebrity chef Fabio Picchi all for a mere 30 euros each + 5 euro membership fee. Be forewarned, you'll likely be the only non-Italian tourists there, but if that excites more than intimidates you and if you've got an adventurous appetite and spirit, any experience here will be an unforgettable one. p.s. When you make your reservations the day before (and you'll need to in order to get in) and they warn you not to eat lunch that day... listen to them, or suffer the consequences. The quality and amount of food will astound you. We saw a great gypsy klezmer band perform the night we were there, but the entertainment is different every night, so could be a play, a band... I'm missing Florence and Casa Caterina already. We'll be back for sure.

I based my decision to st...

I based my decision to stay at Casa Caterina on the photos, location and price, but especially the comments from the previous renters. The pictures do not reflect how beautiful this apt is. The art, accents and furnishings are classy, like you would choose for your own home, not from a second-hand store. The home is comfortable and bright with large wooden shutters, stylish tile work and wood floors. The décor has been updated some since the pictures. There is now a computer in the master bedroom so that everyone has internet access…a real plus for my 18 year old daughter. I loved having a washer/dryer in house, but it took 1 ½ hours to wash and about the same to dry. Maybe front load washers take longer than top loads. The building has electrical limitations so you cannot use the washer and dryer at the same time. But we used the time to catch up on sleep, journaling, reading, or internet. They have a drying rack which we used because the clothes dried quite nicely hung out during the day while we were sightseeing. We ate breakfast in so appreciated the refrigerator and dishwasher. And we loved the very large bathroom. The master has a half bath which is good for getting up in the middle of the night. The bed was comfortable and although the apt is only a short block from the Duomo, it was relatively quiet.Filippo, who speaks good English, was very responsive in arranging the rental and in the follow up. He was working at the time we arrived so a well dressed, handsome man (found out later this was his father, Marco) showed us the place. Although Marco does not speak much English, we were able to communicate enough to get settled. Filippo had to come twice to finalize our payment as we had some money issues our first day in Florence. I felt terrible about causing him the inconvenience, but he was very gracious. Unfortunately we never met Caterina, but I’m certain she’s as lovely as her apartment. My only regret is that we were not able to stay longer – we only stayed 3 nights in early June 2008. Not nearly enough to see all that Florence has to offer. I would highly recommend Casa Caterina to others. Thanks Filippo & family!

Wonderful stay in the heart of the city

Filipe and Caterina could not have been better hosts. The made recommendations and checked in to ensure everything was going well. You always knew how to get a hold of them if needed. The home was so lovely. It had everything you could have needed. We enjoyed every moment and did not want to leave. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you for such an amazing stay!

Best stay in Florence so far!

When my husband and I were planning our trip to Florence we knew that we wanted to rent an apartment within a 5 min walk of the Duomo and this listing didn't disappoint. We loved that it was larger than other places we have stayed in and had a laundry room, that was sorely needed on this trip. Filippo was a pleasure to meet at check-in. He gave us a tour and went over all of the features of the apartment when we arrived, which was much appreciated. He checked in regularly to see if everything was okay and asked if we had any questions, which we didn't since he was so thorough on the tour. The beds were great, nice and firm the way we like them and the walk-in closet in the master bedroom was a nice touch. The kitchen functioned nicely and we cooked about half of our meals there during out 7 day stay, which as fantastic since eating at restaurants all the time can make a large dent in your wallet. We will be sure to book this property again the next time we decide to travel to Florence :)

More comfortable than home.

Do not hesitate to book this gem of a spot. It is HUGE, which I was not anticipating. Every small detail was checked. We got lost on our way in to Florence, trying to find parking and the host met us on his scooter to help us. Talk about above and beyond! The rooms are spacious, linens superb and amenities galore. Book this place and feel more than at home. I wish this were my home. When we return to Florence we will stay here again!
