Weekend away with our son before he leaves for college
Beautiful and serene setting! The decor in the house is so nicely done. The place was clean and the location is great for the wineries in the Applegate Valley.
We enjoyed the Applegate Retreat with our family so much. We stayed for a wedding at Red Lily & a family reunion in the Applegate region, and felt our accommodations made the trip magical. We can’t wait to return to the lovely VRBO & all the comfort Elena provided! The property was a little paradise for our family, while we were grateful for our stay.
This place is magical! Beautiful property to wander, gorgeous river spot (not a swimming river) to sit and soak your feet, wild life galore, and a stunningly remodeled old homestead house that just feels like home when you step inside. We had an absolutely amazing time. So rejuvenating!! Thank you for sharing such an amazing space with us!
This retreat style property was incredible, the kids played and explored the woods, the house was comfy and very clean! We will definitely be staying again.
I only wish I had known there were multiple homes to rent, we would have booked all 3 so we could all be together, rather than in hotels and AirB&Bs across Medford.
The river was a still to high to access in May, but by July this will be an amazing fishing spot.

We’re so glad you enjoyed your stay, Shawna! It was a pleasure to host you guys, and we would love to have you back anytime:)
This is an amazing home on beautiful property. Home was clean and comfy, fully stocked with towels, bottled water, and games. We used the outdoor grill, fire pit, on-site gym and sauna, and hiked the trails. Very close to many wineries! My only recommendation is that the owner stock the kitchen with measuring cups and spoons. A treadmill in the gym would be a great addition.
We would love to come here again!

We're so glad you enjoyed your stay. You are welcome back anytime:)
Everything is as listed except we were not able to use Wi-Fi (it was extremely slow), but it was okay for us. We could still use phone service. Had 3 A/C, Gym, and ping pong table. My family and friends had a wonderful time at Happy Forth. As a suggestion, they should add a volleyball ground on the field by the river. I really want to come back again.
We rented both the main house and the cottage for our stay with three generations of our family. The surrounding forest and open meadow below provided ample space to explore. The raspberries were just beginning to ripen so we did enjoy some tasty treats.
The welcome gifts of juice and cereal, snack bars and fruit were a special treat, especially with the kids, who also enjoyed the various games in the house.
The overall experience was wonderful, with the feel of our own private retreat. Thank you.

We are so glad that you guys enjoyed your stay! You are welcome back anytime:)
Our family two kids (under 8) and two adults stayed here. The house was super clean and had everything we needed to be comfortable. There was a heat wave and the AC units worked really well. The outside space had fig, pear and apple trees. We saw deer on the property every day and lots of birds to observe. We watched the bats swoop eating bugs at dusk. So cool! We took the raft up to Cantrall Buckley Park and rafted down to the property. We saw a beaver and blue heron on the raft trip. There is a artisan and farmers market on Sundays in Jacksonville and we went to Pennington’s Berry Farm and Market and had great treats, berries and jam. We visited Sanctuary One for rescued farm animals as well. The property felt secluded and quiet with minimal road noise. It was super quiet at night. The river has a strong current right at the access on the property so it is not ideal for swimming, but an adult could plunge and explore and sit in a chair and read a book. Our kids waded in but could not swim due to current. We recommend the owners get some black out shades on all windows to help keep the house cool during heat waves and some lounge chairs would be nice for the deck. We did not come for the wifi or access to TV, but please know the wifi is limited so don’t expect to work, watch a movie or download anything. We did not contact the owners about the wifi because we planned to be screen free all week. Overall, we had a great stay and were very comfortable.

Thank you for the recommendations. We're so glad that you enjoyed your stay!
Thoroughly enjoyed the views, the wildlife, the wood stove. The River so close was amazing. The vineyards all around were delightful. It was a wonderful stay.
Don't believe the 5 star reviews.
Although the inside of the house is nice, the kitchen is tiny and cluttered.
The dinning room has a terrible smell of mold, we all were coughing
The river "access" is down a very dangerous and scary path down a cliff. If you get down the path, you can see the river, but you can't get in it.
The campground has some nice areas, but also abandoned trailers. Kinda creepy.
Lastly, the business license on the wall expired last December.
We wont go back.
Overall great spot. There are three homes on the property, one I believe for the caretaker, but otherwise you have acres to yourself. Great for small kids to ride bikes around, but they have to be careful not to wander far as the Applegate valley appears to be the poison oak capital of the world. As another reviewer stated we really didn't see much of an area to swim that we could access, but teenage kids could probably manage. The location in the center of the Applegate valley was awesome. Easy access to Jacksonville, Applegate lake, wineries, etc. The home is on the cozy side, but we had four adults and four kids and fit just fine, especially considering the large outdoor space. Would stay again.
My family and I were celebrating my in-laws 40th Anniversary and this home ft the bill perfectly for us. We have kids who enjoyed exploring and had plenty of space. We wanted to find a place that wasn’t in the city, but close to it as we did the Hellgate Jet Boats in Grants Pass. It was definitely secluded, which as outdoors people, we loved and appreciated. We spent both evenings out on the deck playing cards and visiting. The only thing we would have changed is more comfortable patio furniture since we were out there so much. The house was spotless when we arrived and made up very cute. The hosts even had a few new goodies in the fridge that made our kids feel so welcomed and excited. Highly recommend this home!
Beautiful retreat, had fun and enjoyed stay with family.
The property has everything that we needed, enjoyed the stay with our family. They has extra foot wear, enough towels , all bathroom toiletries, even sugar tea, coffee, salt, kitchen utensils, cutlery, disposable plates, some breakfast food, etc
Only AT&T cell network works in the area so everyone was OFF their devices.

We are right on the Applegate River. Short stroll down the path from the main house deck will take you down to the river. Beautiful trails to explore. We are 15 minutes away from Downtown Jacksonville. Dozens of cute boutiques and you have to try out Jacksonville Inn for Diner! Britt Festival in summer months, and Ashland is about a 35 minute drive, also a beautiful place to explore. Applegate lake is good for fishing or swimming, and you can't forget the wineries! We are next door neighbors with Red Lilly Winery:) You will truly love this place!
