We loved the animals and how peaceful it was there,The owner was very accommodating and nice. Highly recommend if I ever need to stay in the area again this would be my first pick
Great cottage and wonderful location. Perfect for one or two people. Clean and peaceful, comfortable bed and the kitchen has everything you need for a simple mealIf you’re into visiting wineries. This is the place and only 15 minutes to Jacksonville
It was a very central location with easy access to surrounding cities. Also, there is a nice vineyard co-located with the property. The road was a close and noisy as people began work commutes.

Yes, our road is a historical logging road that serves modern commuters today. The good news is that farmers go to bed early so sleeping hours tend to be quiet.
This property was a stunning, quaint place, perfect for an extended weekend stay. We stayed Thursday-Monday and it was perfect. The kitchenette setup is perfect for quick breakfasts. The bathroom is spacious and the beds are comfortable. The goats and chickens were so cute and the treats kept out for them made for many laughs. The proximity to Red Lily Vineyards was amazing for exploration. It is right in the middle of mountain exploration and town for food and boutique shopping.
We enjoyed our brief (1-night) stay in the cottage. It's a beautiful, peaceful spot, with access to the river and a lovely winery next door, but hidden fro view. I'd love plan a longer stay so we can explore the area.
The cottage had everything we needed.
We had a great time at the cottage. It was well set up for my spouse and I. The animals were great and we enjoyed the interactions we had with them. The host responded promptly and provided clear instructions. I would recommend a stay here.
The cottage was the perfect little place to retreat after wine tasting and walking around Jacksonville. Just far enough out and amongst wineries but still close to downtown :) lovely outdoor space with a relaxing river front seating. We just loved it!
Adorable and cozy cottage on the farm. We lived collecting fresh eggs in the morning to make breakfast. Multiple beautiful spots on the property to sit, relax and have a glass of wine with my husband while celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. The Red Lily is an easy walk across the bridge and is stunningly beautiful with my spaces to enjoy the outdoors. Sitting by the river was so calming and a great way to start our day. Definitely would recommend and come back.
The property is close to the road, but you won't want to spend anytime inside when there's so much to explore nearby. Plus, in the evening the car noise dies down completely and you just get to enjoy the nature. Lovely!!

Charming little one-room cottage, scrupulously clean, fantastic winery just over the bridge on the Applegate River. I liked seeing the sheep and goats out in the pasture through the bathroom window as I was brushing my teeth!
We enjoyed our comfy stay in the country. We loved visiting with the animals. Unfortunately, the wineries weren’t open because it was Christmas but Jacksonville was decked out with lights. Thank you for adding to our fun winter adventure.
I was searching for a place away from fireworks. The cottage was cozy and quiet. There was traffic noise, but absolutely no firework noise. My dog was in heaven. The river was gorgeous and peaceful. Had a great stay. Highly recommend and will be back.

Glad you found calm at our peaceful river! Thanks for staying with us, Rolinda.
We stayed over Halloween and really enjoyed the property. The host (Wendy) was the most gracious and friendly person, super helpful during our stay. The fall colors were beautiful, the area was rural and quiet, with wineries all around. The barn, which was an upgrade from the cottage listed here, is brand new construction and cozy. We had 3 adults and it was perfect. The last night we had a grand bonfire under the stars. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Words can't express how much we loved our booking. Perfect little country studio with plenty of room for a family of 4 adults. PETS INCLUDED with amenities supplied!! Did I mention all the amenities!! Really the icing on the cake, host provides everything you need for a relaxing vacation!! The winery was AMAZING!! The Applegate River was a gorgeous place to cool down and have a few drinks with lunch. If you have kids then you're really in for a treat!! The sweet small farm animals made our country stay even more memorable. Waking up to hungry hens was a blast. We made so many great memories, I can't thank you enough for providing such a wonderful stay. I can't wait to come back next summer!!
We read the reviews and there were all these interactions with the farm animals mentioned. We never saw our host and never learned how to feed chickens or gather eggs. Being city people, we had no idea about these things.

About the host

I am a Journalist and Psychology Professor. On an seven-state car trip during the pandemic, seeking fresh air and wide open spaces, I became enchanted with the warmth of Southern Oregon's Applegate Valley. When I saw the former cattle farm with it's old red barn, I stopped in her tracks. It evoked memories of my happy childhood summers spent at my family dairy farm on Prince Edward Island, Canada. That's exactly the kind of feeling I like to inspire in my guests: the joy of country living, gazing over a lush pasture, diving into a cool river, eating fresh eggs, drinking clean well water, and petting cute goats. Welcome to country living.

What makes this property unique
It is rare to have river access in this area with an actual swimming hole. Most properties are private and the river is not open to the public.
