About this property

Beautifully situated amidst rolling farmland

The ambiance of Bowhouse is beautifully captured in one of its five star reviews :-

"Lovely location with a homely feel
We arrived late at night and didn't really get to see the house until the following morning, when we were very pleasantly surprised by the charming location - horses coming up to chat over the garden walls - the wonderful views from almost every window, and the general homey-ness of the house.
It has clearly been a much loved home and remains a haven, with unexpected nooks, a warm, sun filled conservatory and lovely large open rooms. It was an absolute pleasure to spend a week there, big enough to accommodate our extended family and guests with ease, and a lovely entertaining space also. We enjoyed early morning in the conservatory just as much as late night chats, and the facilities overall entirely met our needs (definitely got value from the dishwasher too!). The children were delighted by a selection of interesting toys and games, and the adults tucked into a wonderfully random collection of books .It is a charming, tucked away location where there is a pervasive sense of peace and quiet which was a very much needed respite".
Bowhouse is a charming 300 year-old farmhouse set in beautiful Scottish countryside. An ideal family accommodation, it’s been tastefully modernised, yet still manages to retain its original character. The rooms are bright, well decorated with many homely touches and tasteful furnishing. All rooms, especially the sun lounge, offer wonderful panoramic views. The large stone walled garden is well maintained with lawns and shrubs and there is secure storage for sports equipment.

Accommodation comprises:

Ground Floor: Lounge with open fire, dining room, library, sun lounge, breakfast kitchen, utility room, bathroom with bidet and shower over bath. There is an electric cooker, oil-fired heating, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer and microwave oven. Television, DVD, CD player and Wifi is also installed.

First Floor: One double and two twin bedrooms, spacious shower room.
Bed linen and towels are supplied to guests.

Bowhouse is a wonderful base for exploring the beautiful East Neuk of Fife, with its beaches and quaint fishing villages. There are plenty of golf courses too - St Andrews is about 25 miles away – and sports activities to enjoy. The farmhouse is within easy reach of Edinburgh, the Trossachs, and Stirling. Yet despite Bowhouse’s rural location, it’s less than three miles from the dual carriageway leading to the Scottish motorway system.

Cleanliness has always been a prime consideration with Bowhouse, and that is even more so in the days of covid 19. The house is meticulously cleaned by the local housekeeper between all visits, and the best practices are observed. The ratings given for cleanliness in the guests reviews speak for themselves, emphasising the excellent standard achieved.

Whether you’re looking for a sporting, cultural or relaxing holiday, Bowhouse can help make your stay in Scotland one to remember.

Why they chose this property

My wife and I moved to Fife in 1980, from Surrey. We wanted something completely different, yet convenient. She found this house, and as soon as I saw it, I knew we had to have it. If I had been asked to sketch her dream house, this was it. A serene stone house, set in a large walled garden, amidst rolling fields..
We lived there for 20 years, before circumstances forced a move back south. We could not bear to give up the house, and I still use if for vacations.
