10 Steps And You're In Sebasticook Lake. This Is Where You Go To Unplug
Picture this; A rural dirt road leads you through the woods, past cottages dotting the edge of Sebasticook Lake. After a half mile you'll see on your left a line of boulders that set the scene for your entry to Quilt Maker Cottage. This sweet little cottage sits nestled in the trees. A horseshoe drive goes around the perimeter of the level, almost acre, lawn. Perfect for playing Corn-hole, Croquet, Badminton, Horseshoes, or just run with the kids or dog. Yes I did say dog. This cottage is only dog friendly. Sorry, no kitties, reptiles, hedgehogs, or other fancy critters allowed. Contract with owner has stipulations. This cottage is 600 square feet in size, and has been completely remodeled. Open floor plan with full size appliances in the kitchen. The pantry can hold just about anything you want to put in there. Head up the 'pure cottage' stairs to the master bedroom. A wall of windows with white sheer curtains that waft in the breeze is waiting at the top. From the Queen size bed the first thing you see in the morning and last thing you see at night is beautiful Sebasticook Lake, while you listen to the water lapping the shore and the Loons sing their songs. Why does this cottage have 'Quilt Maker' in the title? Because you will see there are handmade quilts everywhere for your warmth and to take you back in time to Grandma's house. There's even a sewing machine if you're in the mood to work on a project.:) Back downstairs is a full bathroom with tub/shower, stack washer/dryer, and a cool porthole window that opens. The living room has a queen sofa sleeper, TV, Bluray DVD player and large selection of movies. Bring your own games and hook them up to the TV. There are board games also. No WIFI as of yet but cellular service is great. No cable service but 6 -7 channels are crystal clear with one being a National channel. Large L shaped, sleeping porch, can sleep 2 more on full size bed. Also on the porch you will find a dining table for 4, 2 more sofas and 1 chair. Now the best part! 10 steps and you're in the lake! Boat Dock, 2 kayaks, 2 paddle boards, paddle boat, and a campfire pit(wood provided) for those evenings to tell scary stories. There are two areas for outdoor dining. There is a large platform with dining table, a picnic table and a gas grill for those fun cookouts. There is a hammock, and the sunsets are remarkable! Newport is centrally located in the state of Maine and is within 90 minute drive to Bar Harbor, 30 minutes to Bangor Airport, two hours to Portland airport and is about 1 mile to Anglers Seafood Restraunt. Best seafood for the seafood lover! Sebasticook Lake is the largest lake (4,288 acres) within the confines of an individual municipality in the State of Maine. The lake provides for many recreational activities: swimming, boating, fishing, and snowmobiling. Both lake and its shores provide habitats for several wildlife species, such as sea run alewives, smelts, smallmouth bass, white perch, black crappie, and many bird species.

We had a great stay at this nice cottage!! The location is perfect, right on the lake but close to town. We loved the enclosed porch and it had many nice touches to make it comfortable for guests. We brought our dogs and they enjoyed it too! We will be back!
Charming, quiet, relaxing, beautiful place to stay.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the cottage. It was clean, tranquil, and truly relaxing. Thank you for the opportunity to stay there. Wish we could stay longer!

You are most welcome and thank you for the kind words! Glad you had a tranquil and relaxing time.
Great space and location. Very clean cabin with all the amenities you need. The enclosed back porch facing the lake and the master bedroom with a wall of windows facing the lake were our favorite features!
Some confusion with check in (likely due to me deleting unfamiliar email address months earlier) and my reluctance to bother the host with relentless inquiries leading up to our stay. Fortunately I was able to contact them upon arrival. Everything else was perfect.

Very nice location on Lake Sebasticook. Clean with well appointed kitchen, beautiful lake front view with daily eagle and loon sightings; peaceful and relaxing. Road to the property needs a little work.
Property was clean, very well represented on the VRBO site. The lake is so clear it was amazing. The property manager was very responsive and gave us some good tips on local dining. Very relaxing. We would definitely recommend it and would definitely go back ourselves.
We really enjoyed our vacation in Newport. The camp was lovely and our 15 year old dog acted like a pup swimming and exploring. We had a great time and the camp is close to town if you need anything. We hope to come back soon. Thank you!!
A cozy and warm place to hunker down during bad weather. Would like to come back and enjoy the outdoors during better weather. Looks like so much fun!

My wife, Lanci and I have been married since 1995. We moved to the Newport area in 1998 to take care of Lanci's grandmother. Since then My wife retired from the Army National Guard and I retired from the Police Department. We own and operate several businesses in Newport. We both are excited about purchasing our new Cottage.
Why they chose this property
My wife and I looked at this property and fell in love with it. We really felt that this was the place that we could surely share with our rental friends from Maine and many other states. We look forward of having many fond memories in this Cottage.
What makes this property unique
The second you pull in the driveway the lake opens up behind the cottage. Its a wow! You are not even curious about the cottage inside, because the outside is what draws you to scope out the whole yard and beach first. Nestled under the trees is a sweet little cottage thats neither too big or too small. 600 square feet of cottage that has everything you need. Easy to maintain and clean. I don't even leave unless I'm out of food.
