Overall, our experience was great, and Kathy was very communicative and quite amenable! The only thing that I would have appreciated a heads up on was the fact that she has a permanent tenant in the basement. That said, we barely noticed that he was on the property at all. Check in and check out was super easy, and the area is relatively quiet. Heads up- make sure that you bring your own towels and linens unless you don't mind doing some laundry during your stay. All in all, I 10/10 recommend for a nice family getaway.
This home was charming, comfortable, and spacious enough for our 7 adults and 1 toddler. It was well equipped with everything needed for our family's Christmas gathering! We invited guests for dinner and there was space in the dining area to add a card table (we brought the table) so that 12 people could eat together. Kathy was very responsive and helpful when we had questions. Our toddler enjoyed the near-by playground and adults enjoyed the almost 3-mile walk around the Lake. Lake Junaluska is always a peaceful, beautiful place to visit regardless of the time of year. We would stay here again!
We enjoyed our stay at Lake Junaluska. The home was cozy, clean, and well appointed. Beds and furniture were comfortable. We had a great stay and would stay here again. Highly recommended!
This is a wonderful property with lots of room. The house was extremely clean and equipped with all the convivences to make your stay comfortable. Don't overlook this place if you're looking for a place around Lake Junaluska.
Every year, my three sisters and their spouses celebrate our family with a reunion in a rented home centrally located to our home addresses. Of the many places we have stayed, our weekend at Lake Junaluska was our best experience. The home was beautifully appointed, spacious (and including two ground floor master suites for our older sisters and partners), warm and inviting for sharing conversations in a cozy circle in comfortable living room seating, and our host, Kathy, was immediately responsive in all communications -- offering flexibility in all details, including our rebooking after Hurricane Helene. The Lake Junaluska area is beautiful, especially the overlooks across the lake and mountains and the well-used paved walking/running tour around the lake. Beautiful and so relaxing. We highly recommend this home and will definitely be back next year!
Very comfy and roomy spot to enjoy Lake Junaluska, Waynesville, with easy access to Great Smokey Mountains NP. Plenty of room for our group of 8. House well equipped and host very responsive.
We enjoyed our stay so much - the weather was a great break from the heat and humidity in Florida. The house is comfortable and convenient to all Lake J has to offer; downtown Waynesville is less than 15 minutes away.
This was our second stay at this home and our seventh vacation at Lake Junaluska. We like the space, everyone has their own room and a connecting bathroom. The dog friendly policy allows my Dad to bring his traveling companion which is a huge consideration in getting our whole family together. The walking distance to Lake Junaluska is of course the biggest draw. I can't say enough about how much we all love Lake Junaluska. A truly special place for respite and renewal!!

Good enough, if you are okay with a man in basement and lots of pet dander.
The size is good, but the level of pet dander made some in our group uncomfortable. We don't like the idea of bringing our own linens. It's an older house, and showing some wear. We like the natural light. In the upstairs bed rooms, we had trouble finding a comfortable temperature for sleeping. We had children with us, and don't like the idea of having a man in the basement.
We traveled to Lake Junaluska for a conference and ordination. Kathy communicated well leading up to our check-in. She answered questions, provided thorough details, and responded quickly to communication both prior to and during our stay. This home is lovely and was a comfortable place to land for a week. We would definitely return in the future.
This house was the ideal retreat for us during our stay. We were attending a week-long event at the Event Center which was just a short distance away. The house had everything we needed; clean rooms, comfortable furniture, wi-fi, kitchen facilities, etc. Would love to come again next year but unfortunately it is already booked for our dates. I hope to return someday.
Wonderful home- great layout for teens and our toddler. Beautiful setting, friendly neighbors, cooking essentials were all there and plenty of seating to eating and visiting. Very responsive host!
We were all there for my oldest son’s wedding
The house and location is beautiful. Owner was very helpful. Will be returning when not such a rush. But thank you for the use of your beautiful home. We had great time.
Great house! Comfortable beds, plenty of room, laid out well. Great communication!

Weekend getaway with friends
Nice house, clean. Really close to neighbors. Wasn’t a big fan of bringing my own linens, towels, dish cloth, etc. There wasn’t enough toilet paper. And check out wanting you to make beds empty dishwasher and still charge $90 cleaning fee! Thanks for the stay but 1 and done!
This is a great location and stay if you're traveling to Lake Junaluska or surrounding area. The owner is a text or email away with any needs or questions, making sure her guests are taken care of.
I can't say enough good things about this clean and spacious property.
Frim the day we booked this property until the hour we locked the door our stay was perfect. The house is super spacious with plenty of room for 4 house guests as well and an additional 4 that joined us for a cook out on the large deck. The house had everything we needed to be comfortable and safe.
An unexpected joy was the communication with the owner, Kathy. She answered every question we had and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was first rate.
A bonus was the beautiful mountain view from the end of the driveway. I am putting this property on the top of my favorite VBRO mountain property list. I will DEFINITELY be back!!!
We stayed here for the lake junaluska conference. It’s the perfect house for convenience to the lake and is minutes away from Waynesville and Maggie Valley, and about a 30 minute drive to Asheville. We thoroughly enjoyed the large and shady deck, and even though it’s in the middle of a neighborhood it still felt very private and peaceful. Older style house is charming and had lots of room for us (3 couples and our mom). Our mother enjoyed a bedroom on the main floor with its own bathroom and she was able to not have to deal with stairs to get to the deck since those were on the main floor. We really appreciated the extra parking space our host made, plus if you happen to have a mini-cooper/smallish car, you could pull one car up as far as the parking area will let you, then just park the little car behind it, so we were able to accommodate our 4 vehicles! The only suggestion to our host would be to label the light switches lol! We had a great time here-thanks again 😁
This house was perfect for our family. We were in town for a wedding and we enjoyed cooking meals and sitting together in the main room and on the deck to visit. I didn’t remember the note about no towels and lines when I made the reservation, but Kathy sent a reminder and when I had a question about it, the reply came within minutes. Would absolutely recommend this property.
The house was lovely with large, clean, comfortable rooms. Furniture was comfortable. The neighborhood was quiet and in a good location for our purposes. I would definitely stay here again!

About the host

I grew up at Lake Junaluska, and while Cincinnati, Ohio, has been my hometown for over 30 years now, it has been a lifelong dream of mine to own a property in NC where so many of my favorite memories were made. At last I got my chance, and I couldn't be happier with my Lake Junaluska getaway! Many thanks to my husband, Dave, for supporting this big life step. We hope you have a great time at the place and learn to love Lake Junaluska and the Waynesville area as much as our family does.
