An immaculate, classic 1940’s lake cottage within walking distance of beautiful Lake Waramaug. Nicely furnished with antiques, oriental rugs, vintage glassware, comfortable seating and beds. The house has been completely updated with an open floor plan, tiled bath and fully stocked kitchen right down to the lettuce spinner! But it still retains its authentic lake-house charm with the original golden pine paneling, wood-burning fireplace, cedar shingles, and a front porch where you can relax and watch runners, bicyclists, and classic cars cruise by. The house is in the town of Warren, only 1.5 hours from New York City, and has the best private town beach on the lake. Lake Waramaug, the second largest natural lake in the state, is Connecticut’s only designated Heritage Lake. While there are some motor boats, we do not have anywhere near the boating activity of other lakes. Peace and quiet enjoyment are still possible here. Paddleboats and kayaks can be rented at the State Park. Walking trails are right outside the back door with spectacular views from the top of Tanner Hill. Award winning vineyards and terrific restaurants from casual to formal abound. Visit farm markets, country fairs, art galleries, one-of-a-kind shops, auctions and antiques stores, all within easy commute. Cinemas, day spas and professional theatre are all nearby. The cottage is just minutes from lovely New Preston Village. Also easy drive to music events at Music Mountain (30 minutes); Infinity Hall (45 minutes); and Tanglewood (1 hour). Cultural activities abound throughout Litchfield County and the nearby Berkshires. Come enjoy one beautiful New England town after another in Litchfield County. Breathe our fresh country air and drink our unpolluted water. Munch on organic berries and fresh herbs from the garden. Or enjoy a glass of wine and meditative ‘decompression’ by the sounds of the backyard water garden. This is sophisticated country living at its low key, gracious best.

Our hosts were super nice, and we enjoyed getting to know them. The home was cozy and comfortable, and the location was easy to get to our favorite restaurants and attractions. Highly recommend a stay if you love NE Ct as we do.

We very much enjoyed getting to know Jackie and Larry too! Such fun. They were so easy to have next door -- quiet, neat, friendly, respectful in every way. Left the cottage in perfect condition. Felt more like friends than "guests." Sad to see them leave... Look forward to seeing them again for sure and highly recommend to other hosts. Can't go wrong with them.
We had such a lovely time during our four nights at their house. Love the quaint, atmosphere and the sweet home feel. Can’t wait to come back next year during the summer to make use of the lake.

Patti and Gary were terrific. Quite, respectful, left the house in perfect condition. Sincerely hope they do come back next summer so we can get to know them better. We would welcome good guests like them any time and highly recommend them to other hosts.
We loved our stay! The home was really lovely, tucked in nature and peaceful.

Cassie and Matt were terrific to have as guests -- tread VERY lightly in the cottage and left it in excellent shape. Unfortunately we had very little contact with them as they were up & out early and returned late -- hopefully they were enjoying the spectacular autumn season here this year while also visiting family in the area. Would welcome them back any time and highly recommend them to other guests.

We really enjoyed having Karen and Marty as our guests last week while they visited nearby family and we certainly look forward to having them stay with us in the future. They were really comfortable while here and enjoyed their stay immensely.

The cottage was adorable and very comfortable. While sitting on the front porch we listened to a brutal thunderstorm which was literally overhead and a highlight of our stay. A short ride to a drive around the pretty lake.
We had a wonderful time as always! Love that Jon and Blake are such great hosts. We look forward to our next visit!

This was Juliette's second vacation at our cottage and we look forward to her return next year. Perfect guests -- we could hardly tell they were there.
Beautiful cottage, lots of greenery, spotlessly clean, fully furnished kitchen, comfortable beds, interesting bird watching, enjoyed freshly picked herbs from herb garden. Greatly enjoyed three full relaxing no-stress days. Came home rested.

Sohelila was the perfect guest and left the cottage is practically "unused" condition. We barely got to talk with her before her time was up but such an interesting person. Can't wait to see her again and highly recommend her to other hosts. Blake and Jon
This is a cozy and sparkling clean cottage! It's in an excellent location, with access to Lake Waramaug for swimming, towns for restaurants and shops, and trails for hiking. Owners Jon and Blake are welcoming and very friendly. I loved my stay.

Great guest. We rarely get someone who leaves the house so clean and tidy. And quiet! Glad she enjoyed her stay and we look forward to her return.

Clean and comfortable cottage, well-tended yard and surroundings, the best hosts I could have asked for. And great neighbors too!

Tim was great to have with us! He is a third generation former neighbor, revisiting his old 'hood. We knew his parents but not Tim until now. Such a pleasure to meet him, hear his stories, and learn of history we never knew. Would recommend him to anyone renting properties on VRBO or any other site. He was great fun, quiet, respectful, tread extremely lightly -- could hardly tell after he left that anyone was even there. We would be delighted to have him back! In fact are already looking forward to it...
The cottage is exceptionally clean and comfortable and the kitchen is very well appointed. The grounds are attractive and the hosts welcoming, helpful, and unobtrusive.
The home was absolutely impecable, it was like stepping back in time, it has beautiful gardens, and lovely front porch. The pictures really do not do it justice. The home has everything you could want or need. The beds were comfortable. We will definitely return!

Terry and Cindy, and their son and daugher-in-law, were perfect guests. Quiet, neat, respectful, interesting, fun to talk with -- we loved seeing them enjoy the yard and cottage, as well as the town beach and area. The weather cooperated almost the entire time for them too! They left the house is great shape -- just normal cleanup. We very much look forward to seeing them and the family again anytime and recommend them highly to other hosts.
The best couple, service, location, price, and then some.... Also, a beautiful garden to enjoy, and eat from, with pond... Everything one needs is there or near by, e.g., a beautiful inn, restaurants, vineyard, stores...

Christine and Rhein were a delight to have next door -- so thoughtful and curious about the area and adventurous. Had we all not been going off in different directions, we would have enjoyed getting to know them better. Smart too -- we learned from them as well about our own area! The cottage was left in excellent shape. Will welcome them back any time and highly recommend them to other hosts.
We enjoyed our stay at this cozy cottage for a wedding . The place was very clean , the kitchen well- stocked with items for cooking . However we had only ate breakfast and lunch at the cottage . There are restaurants nearby and we enjoyed exploring many of them ! The cottage is close to the Lake and state park. Tanner Hill is great for a morning walk . Jon and Blake are wonderful hosts - we loved meeting both of them ! The cottage does not have wi- fi but Jon provided my husband and I with Ethernet cables and computer adapters that provided fast service for work Zoom calls.

Julie and Peter were terrific guests -- quiet as can be but ever-so-friendly and personable when out and about. We very much enjoyed getting to know them and hope to catch up with them in the future, either here or in Montana! (They are correct about the wifi -- there is none in the cottage but ethernet connections are much faster and far safer. Guests can get online easily. Cell phones do work here but the signal is not strong. People often welcome the digital detox.) Julie and Pete brought some goodies for us from Montana -- so thoughtful -- and left the cottage in great shape. We highly recommend them to other hosts.
My sons and I stayed in this impeccably maintained and very comfortable cottage for a week while visiting family in the area. Blake and Jon were extremely accommodating and helpful. The cottage is in a convenient but also peaceful location on Lake Waramaug. We enjoyed having breakfast in the morning and reading in the afternoon on the front porch. It is the perfect size for 3 or 4 people. We would love to come back again.
My husband and I were in CT to see his elderly parents and to also make the trip a time to relax and regenerate as we know this would be a working vacation. The cottage offered that. It was extremely clean and well kept, fully stocked with anything one would need, and offered the quiet of being in the hills of CT. Blake and Jon with most gracious as hosts and checked in a few times to make sure all was well. We truly enjoyed our 10 day stay. Thank you!

Kim and Michael were terrific -- excellent 'neighbors' the entire time, like having kindred spirits next door. They also left the house in such great shape that if the beds hadn't been slept in, we never would have guessed that people had been there for 10 days! We sincerely look forward to seeing them again as guests and/or just friends returning to CT. They also at one time had a water garden and understand the complexities of that degree of gardening. Picked up some good tips from them -- so knowledgeable. We highly recommend them to other hosts...
If I could give an a to my autumn experience, I would give it an A+
Jon and Blake were wonderful and excellent house. They made sure every thing I needed was right in front of me. It was wonderful having them right there near me and I would go back in a heartbeat and I would recommend this cottage to anybody who wants to feel the country. Thank you for the experience.

Carol and Anthony were a true joy to have as guests -- smart, fun, generous, thoughtful, big-hearted people. Anthony had to leave early to tend to business in FLA but Carol stayed on for another week+ to visit with family nearby and enjoy the glorious autumn this year. Missed her the minute she pulled out of the driveway. We look forward to knowing them in the future in one way or another and they are most welcome back any time. Highly recommend them to other hosts.
We were delighted with our stay at Lake Waramaug Cottage. Cozy, comfortable, charming. Hosts were unobtrusive, welcoming, and helpful with our questions about the area. Lovely sitting area by the small pond in the garden. The location was perfect for us as first time visitors to Connecticut. We wanted to be in a rural area without feeling isolated. Lake Waramaug Cottage provided everything we needed for our stay. Fully stocked kitchen, comfortable bed, and lots of natural lighting. Although we didn't light a fire there is also a fireplace. Ethernet connection is provided. Overall a perfect stay.

Rob and Robin (Roberta) were just wonderful to meet -- a first for us as they came all the way from Wisconsin. We would have loved more time to get to know them as we discovered much in common. Alas we were all headed in different directions most days. We are delighted that their trip did not disappoint and look forward to seeing them again sometime -- either in Connecticut, Wisconsin, or anywhere inbetween! Blake and Jon
This cottage fit our needs perfectly in every way: location, size, amenities, ease-of-use. It was remarkably clean and had ALL the comforts of home. And the property itself is beyond beautiful. I enjoyed my coffee every morning by the frog pond.
Jon and Blake were the perfect hosts; welcoming and available (they live next door) without being ever-present and intrusive. They provided information on local attractions and historical sites as well as restaurants and hiking. They have lived there for a long time and the pride they have for their town and home/cottage was evident. Simply lovely people.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning year after year. Thank you Jon and Blake!!
The objective of the stay was to see the Eric Sloane Museum in Kent CT. But with the wonderful suggestions from Blake, our hostess, we saw so much more. Even though the cottage is on a highway, inside the house you really cannot hear the traffic. So clean, cozy, and comfortable. Read the information closely - understand there is NO WiFi and very limited cell phone reception within the house. There is a toll-free landline, and an ethernet cable. If you have a laptop, invest in an ethernet-usb adapter and you are good to go if you feel the need to be connected. P.S. The frogs in the frog pond were delightful, and we enjoyed sitting in the sun with our host Jon and watching the frogs watching us.
Perfect lake cottage getaway preserving bucolic beauty of Lake Waramaug
We can't imagine a more pleasant rental experience at Lake Waramaug. The cottage is immaculately and beautifully maintained, preserving the simplicity of the lake's historic countryside retreats, yet well-appointed to provide all the comforts you would want or need. Jon and Blake are extremely gracious and helpful hosts. The nearby Warren Town Beach was a perfect spot for the kids to cool off in the lake and for the parents to relax. We even caught the Fourth of July fireworks! We can't wait to return!
