Thank you to Francesca and the team at Best of Mas, we have had the most amazing holiday. I’m so glad we decided to book the welcome meal, it was one of the best meals we had. The villa had everything we could possibly need, and the pool and table tennis were a huge hit with the children.

Dear Catherine I’m so happy to hear that you had such a wonderful time at Capanna al Lago! It was a true pleasure having you as my guests, and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for treating my home with so much care and respect. Whenever our guests fall in love with this place, it brings me endless joy. This home holds a very special place in my life and in the history of Best of Tuscan Villas. it’s actually the villa where our company first started, which is why it’s featured right in our logo (the little house surrounded by trees). Thank you again for being such fantastic guests. I truly hope you’ll come back and visit us again soon! I wish you all the best take care of you Francesca

We stayed at Francesca’s house in August 2025 and absolutely loved it. The home is charming, clean, and very well-equipped, with a peaceful and secluded setting that made for a perfect getaway. It’s also great value for money compared to other places we looked at in the area. Francesca was a warm and thoughtful host, always quick to respond and happy to help. We’d definitely stay again!

We’ve had the most amazing holiday. Thank you so much to Francesca and the team at Best of Mas for always being there to answer any questions we may have had. The villa is even better in real life- the photos do not do it justice, we didn’t want to leave! The pool was very much needed after spending the morning/afternoon visiting different places in Tuscany, and the hot tub was in the perfect position to watch the sunrise over the beautiful countryside.

Dear Catherine, Thank you so much for your wonderful review! Hearing your feedback means the world to us and truly encourages us to keep striving for the best. I wanted to reply personally because Capanna al Lago holds a very special place in my heart. This property was passed down to me by my father, and as an architect, I personally renovated it and lived here for many years before opening its doors to guests. Knowing that you experienced and appreciated the love built into this home brings me so much joy and gives me the energy to keep making it even better. Partnering with Best of Mas allows me to provide the level of service and support that I couldn't deliver all on my own, and I am so happy to hear that you had a great stay with us. We would love to welcome you back again one day!

Beautiful villa in the Tuscany countryside. The home had everything we needed. Got a lot of use from the hot tub. Close proximity to Sienna and several smaller cities. Many great restaurants within 15 minute drive. Our host Francesca was friendly and helpful with planning.

The villa was exactly as described and close to all of the major medieval villages in the surrounding areas. Easy trips by car with a beautiful base camp at the villa. Francesca and Ambra are most helpful and welcoming, and make all attempts to ensure you are traveling easily. They will make travel arrangements for you upon request, schedule yours, etc. They are both fabulous!

The property was lovely. Secure, private entrance with lovely backyard views overlooking Siena’s landscape. The sunrises and sunsets were spectacular. The perfect spot to enjoy dinner, drinks, or to simply relax with the book. Francesca was the perfect host, and help to make our stay carefree. From our pick up at the train station, trip to the grocery store, welcome dinner preparation with great conversation, trip planning, on-site rental cars and a private driver for our trip to and from Florence…we couldn’t have been more pleased. Francesca and her group made this one of our best stays.

Ciao Jenniferhank you for your review! It’s always wonderful to hear that our guests had a great time. Unfortunately, as I mentioned right when you arrived, a thunderstorm fried the hot tub's control unit. Repairing it wasn't easy since it happened on a Saturday, a day when electricians and spare parts are incredibly hard to find, but we managed to get it fixed in the end. Regarding the costs you mentioned, I am a bit surprised that this came as a surprise to you, as everything was clearly stated in the listing. Most guests leave the house and stay out all day while leaving all the lights on and the air conditioning running with the windows wide open. Given the extremely high cost of electricity in Italy, this creates an unsustainable expense for us, not to mention a huge waste of energy that goes against our culture. Therefore, we decided to charge for lights and AC. We've found that this encourages guests to be mindful of waste, which is a win for everyone. As for the distance from the center, yes, it takes about 30 minutes to reach Piazza del Campo, but it’s only 15 minutes to the historic center and Via di Camollia, where you will find the most authentic local restaurants and spots in the city. Thank you again for being our guests, and we hope to see you again soon.

A terrific property in a wonderful location, not only because the views are so lovely but it is so close to Siena and a range of fantastic restaurants (you MUST go to Bagoga, simply amazing meal but we also had a wonderful meal in Monteriggioni which is only 15 minutes up the road). We did easy day trips to Florence, San Gimignano, Pienza, Volterra and Montepulciano - everyone worth the visit! The pool was refreshing primarily in the afternoon, it was a bit too cold to swim in the early evening. The only downside is the velux windows in the bedrooms do not have any coverings - with an early rising sun some of our party struggled to sleep in - so bring your eye masks!
