Ground floor large master bedroom with ensuite bath/shower room. Luxuriously furnished with a queen size double bed, high quality lnen, a two seater sofa and chair as well as bedroom furniture. French doors to the garden and grand picture windows fitted with both blinds and heavy curtains.
The second bedroom on the first floor has twin single beds and fitted wardrobes. The adjoining sitting room has two large comfy armchairs and a state of the art television system. The shower room is beautifully equipped and is directly across the hallway. Opening roof lights give panoramic views of the garden and surrounding countryside.
There are plenty of fluffy bath towels etc and a change of bed linen if required stocked in the house. Stewart Hall is a rural idyll, situated on the beautiful west coast of Bute. The 5 Star Coach House, though self-contained, forms the west wing of the house.
The wonderful views south west across the Sound of Bute to the majestic hills of Arran, and the gentle slopes of Inchmarnock, are ever changing and truly dramatic. The three acres of mature and tranquil grounds are surrounded by gently rolling farmland. Ancient forts stand guard over the valley, and standing stones are evident in the adjacent fields. The stunning beach at St Ninian's Bay is only a short walk away.
The Category A Listed Georgian building is believed to have been built by the Adam family for the Rev. James Stewart, Laird of Kilwhinleck, in 1760.
The Coach House has been furnished and equipped to the highest standard, with meticulous attention to detail. The large drawing room on the ground floor is both sumptuous and comfortable , with windows giving views over the fields to the sea. The dining area is situated by arched glass doors which lead to the garden. The kitchen has everything you could need to make best use of the superb local produce on offer. The master bedroom is extremely spacious with french doors onto the back lawn and an ensuite bathroom. There is a second shower room on the ground floor. The first floor consists of a double bedroom with adjoining sitting room and a third bathroom. There is a plethora of natural light from the large well appointed windows throughout.
Although a perfect escape, the Coach House is a superb base from which to explore the awesome scenery of the island. It is also ideally situated to the local amenities, if you take a right turn at the end of the drive you are less than two miles from the main own of Rothesay with its local shops, bars, restaurants and the main ferry terminal. Turn left and you are five minutes from the Straad and ten from Ettrick Bay.
After a day exploring, the Coach House is the perfect home to return to.

Fantastic Island Retreat
This was our second stay at the Coach House and once again had a very enjoyable relaxing time. The accommodation is first class- very spacious, very clean, quiet, and ideal island retreat close to the mainland. The location is perfect- set in large private gardens, although close to Rothesay for the local shops.

Absolutely fabulous experience in an outstanding location.
The private dining experience is not to be missed. Fabulous food served in an equally fabulous dining room - the Coach House lounge. Lovely hosts. The view from the front of the house over the fields, the Sound of Bute onto the mountains of Arran is just breathtaking.

Great place, great views
Very comfortable, central (but anywhere in Bute is!). Very quiet. 5 star for everything , minor issue with room upstairs with spiral staircase in kitchen but got the younger ones to tackle that!

Perfect place to chill out
The Coach House at Stewart Hall is very comfortable, light and airy, well appointed and extremely peaceful. The view across to Arran is stunning. Despite the various attractions of the Isle of Bute, Mount Stewart etc, we were just as happy to stay put at the Coach House, admire the scenery, watch wildlife, read and relax.
Absolutely gorgeous property.Cannot praise Karen and David the hosts highly enough. The house was stunning and set in the most beautiful grounds with views across to Arran.I know the island like the back of my hand but never knew Stuart Hall was there.I will certainly be back.
We had a wonderful stay at the Coach House. It's comfortable and quiet, which is really important for us. It's set in attractive grounds, which has some lovely plants - including some very nice acers! We even saw hares in the garden.
Karen and David are great hosts, very welcoming and they made certain we enjoyed our stay.
This was a superb place to stay with easy access to the whole island. Wouldn't hesitate to stay there again!

Our new favourite place!
What an extraordinary place to stay! This is a truly unique and beautiful accommodation surrounded by incredible nature and wildlife. Yet still close to a major town where you can find supermarkets and also great local shops.
The house is very well equipped with everything you might possibly need, very clean, with great attention to details. The hosts are the most welcoming and friendly people and Karen's cooking could easily compete with any fine dining restaurant! Highly recommend this place!

Hosts, house and scenery were wonderful.
Wonderful stay at the Coach House at Stewart Hall. Karen and David are thoughtful and kind hosts. The coach house was cozy and comfortable. And the kitchen had enough breakfast food to last a few days. They were very helpful with information regarding attractions on the island. David provided very interesting historical facts about the island. We had great communication with Karen before we arrived at the Coach House and throughout our stay.

Charming haven
The coach house is a lovely, well-furnished, well-equipped cottage. It is a real haven in a well-kept garden, surrounded by fields, where deers, rabbits, pheasants abound. It is very conveniently located 5 minutes away from the Rothesay ferry, half an hour from the main coast and one hour away from Glasgow.
The owners were not present but always available by mail or phone as well as their housekeeper. We loved the warm welcome and special attentions.

Beautiful house and location, friendly hosts, but smartening up is needed
This has the potential to be one of the finest holiday rentals in the UK. The main rooms are spacious, with high ceilings and lots of natural light. The high standard of much of the interior is still apparent. The location is peaceful, with wonderful views across the sea to the mountains beyond. However, it has become a bit shabby. The windows, skirting boards and other woodwork are damaged by rain and damp. The fridge motor runs continuously, because the doors no longer make a proper seal.
The Coach House is a beautiful building with a wonderful view of the sea and the mountains beyond. The rooms are large, with plenty of natural light and the furnishings, when new, were clearly stylish and of good quality. If the place were cleaned up and redecorated it could be one of the most outstanding holiday let's in the UK. However, it is currently a bit shabby. The woodwork is decaying in places, the showers need to be refitted and cleaned of mould. Some of the kitchen equipment is in very bad condition. The fridge-freezer doors don't fit properly, so the compressor runs continually as it struggles to reach the correct temperature. Older people would struggle to use the spiral staircase, which is not mentioned in the description. Despite all this, we had a wonderful time in Bute.
Fantastic retreat, quiet and peaceful with magnificent views.
The accommodation is very comfortable and clean.
The owners were helpful and obliging.
Had a super holiday, made great memories!
We had a lovely long weekend stay and spent plenty of time indoors due to weather. There is plenty of space for all, decent facilities and items provided for entertainment like board games, unique books, dvds and a piano. Great to disconnect and get away from the busier areas of Bute, particularly as mobile and WiFi reception is poor/intermittent in the property. The upstairs lounge area is great for a separate cosier hang out space or reading area, particularly for slightly older kids and if you bring a games console - my 7 year old son loved it.
The owner was very accommodating with our requests and provided basic foods like bread, milk, butter, olive oil, eggs and sausages and bacon as a treat.
The property can get draughty during very windy wintry weather, which cannot be helped very much with it being an older property. We still enjoyed ourselves and the central heating worked well.

About the host
Hosted by Host
Tranquil and serene with the most stunning views towards the mountains of Arran. Luxuriously appointed the Coach House is the most perfect escape. A constant refrain from guests? .....'I have never slept so well".
As hosts we love welcoming people to our home. Avid supporters of local businesses, we offer you the complimentary welcome of your first morning's breakfast, so that you can sample the superb sausages and bacon from our local butcher, or Ritchie's famous smoked salmon. If you prefer a leisurely start to your morning then Karen will happily prepare and cook your breakfast for you.
Although the Coach House is fully equipped for self catering, dinner can also be provided by prior arrangement if required- Karen is an excellent cook! Using our superb local produce, a beautiful 3 course meal is available. A selection of menus will be on offer - Karen makes sure to cater perfectly to your choice and preferences. David is extremely knowledgable about all things Bute and will happily advise if needed. Friendly, relaxed and approachable.
