Beach front getaway. Experience beachfront living and leave your worries at home. Two bedroom, two bath cottage located on Willoughby Beach right on the shore of the Chesapeake Bay. Centrally located between Williamsburg, Jamestown, Hampton, and Norfolk, Virginia Beach, and the Outer Banks. Close to Norfolk Naval Bases and Old Dominion University. Great for surf fishing or pier fishing on nearby Ocean View Fishing Pier and Restaurant. Easy beach access/dune walkover ramp located next to property.

It was a nice & quiet area to stay in next to the beach. The host was thorough with communication. It was easy to get to Norfolk and VA Beach. Although it’s a bit outdated, we enjoyed the short walk to the beach and the area. We’d stay there again.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Sandbar. Very clean inviting and comfortable. We slept well and house was very well setup with all the amenities we needed. Excellent communication with Host Jimmy. Steps away from the beach for our daily walks, just over the dune. Dedicated parking for guests. We highly recommend and will stay there again if in the area.

NICE pots, pans, utensils and place settings!The entire home was spotless!The host was extremely conscientious and made sure we knew how to do everything needed to keep our trip comfortable and easy.I sure wish we could have stayed longer.

Great location to relax and enjoy before the next leg of our trip

My family and I really enjoyed our time at Life on a Sandbar, it's a very cute house and plenty spacious for the 4 of us. My kids really enjoyed the easy beach access and we had fun at night looking for shark teeth and making friends with some nice locals. Jimmy was very responsive and gave great recommendations for local spots as far as food and things to do. We hope to be back one day and stay for even longer!

We enjoyed the house and view of bay. Limited traffic on dead end street was nice, as well as the direct access to the beach. Minimal stairs was a blessing.

Perfect location very clean

The house was immaculate! It is better than the pictures which never happens. Well stocked kitchen with all the essentials. Any easy walk to the beach. We appreciated the beach chairs so we didn’t have to bring our own. Would definitely visit again.

Life on a Sandbar was everything listed and more! Jimmy was wonderful to communicate with and fabulous host. Sitting on the porch enjoying the breeze and watching the bees, butterflies and hummingbirds was so relaxing. We walked to Willoughby Fishhouse to eat one evening and that was delicious. Husband and I did 3 miles every morning around the neighborhood and always a nice walk. There was absolutely nothing I could see anyone complaining about and would highly recommend!!

Perfect little getaway

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property is fully equipped with everything you would need. Jimmy, the owner, was responsive and accommodating, allowing us to check in early and depart late. Although our trip was brief, we plan to return and spend more time there. Oooo, and the beach is seriously just steps away!!

“Life on a Sandbar” was perfect! It was exactly the getaway we needed. It was home for our 11 day stay. The beach, sunsets, sunrises and ship watching were wonderful! Location to all sites was perfect! Grocery store and fresh seafood easily accessible! We had all the amenities we needed and Jimmy was a great host! We look forward to our next visit! I had a quick work trip to Norfolk and stayed at Life on a Sandbar. The host, Jimmy, was great to work with. Very quiet area. The best part was watching ships come into and out of the Bay right from the front window. Highly recommend!

Great Place on the Bay
