Set in a very quiet and sunny position in the charming lakeside town of Varenna, this welcoming second-floor apartment offers a peaceful escape surrounded by greenery. With lovely mountain views and a tranquil atmosphere, it is ideal for couples, small families, or a romantic getaway on Lake Como.

The apartment features a bright open-plan kitchen-diner designed for relaxed holiday living. The fully equipped kitchen includes a cooker hob, oven, microwave, toaster, electric kettle, coffee machine (including drip coffee machine), dishwasher, and all essentials needed to prepare meals at home. The picturesque historical quarter of Varenna leads past authentic restaurants, cafes, wine bars and shops to the botanical gardens of Villa Monastero and the timeless vistas and cafe-lined walkway of the waterfront. Past bobbing boats and flowering wisteria, the lakeside path known as ‘La Passarella’ leads to the elegant Victorian-era promenade. Here a lovely lakeside Lido promises a delightful day of relaxation, whilst a picturesque hillside trail leads to the medieval ‘Castello di Vezio’ attraction. A car and passenger ferry service offers easy access to Bellagio, Cadenabbia and Menaggio, whilst a train station from Varenna also offers a frequent Lecco-Milan service.

A stay on the eastern shore offers one of year-round amusement, with Lidos and the Lierna public beach to enjoy alongside water sports, boat rental, tree top climbing at the Jungle Raider Park and easy access to the Ski resorts of Piani di Bobbio and Madesimo. The close proximity to the central lake highlights also promises opportunities for horse riding, tennis, golf, sailing, hiking, world-class villa attractions and easy access to Lake Lugano (just 20 minutes drive west of Menaggio).

Amazing location! The skylights had magical views. Very near everything you could want in Varenna. The washing machine was also extremely helpful for us as we were on an extended trip around Italy.

Had a great stay

We had a great stay at the appartement. The location is just perfect, with fabulous views from every window. Varenna is beautiful and we had a wonderful stay with our family. The appartement is spacious, beds are good and the kitchen is fully equiped for who wants to eat in ☺️ Parking is not very easy in the neighborhood though.

Beautiful and clean

We’re a family of 3. The place was perfect for our 3 day stay. Nice lake view from the living room. Centrally located and easy walk from the train station. The place was spotless and everything looked new. We even had a nice gift box with snacks and wine upon our arrival. We would definitely stay there again.

We had a great stay at this property. We had plenty of room for 4 adults and 2 adult children. Two of the adults only had one towel instead of two like the other adults and the amount of body wash/shampoo was not enough. We were not able to use the coffee maker with ground coffee. The apartment did have laundry soap.

Beautiful Apartment

This is a beautiful spacious apartment, well located in scenic Varenna. We loved the views of the lake, and being able to walk to restaurants along the lake.3 star location rating - Varenna is beautiful BUT the ferries were insanely busy from Varenna. We queued for an hour plus and it was chaotic (end of May). Not ideal with young children and it is something to consider as there may be easier towns with regards to getting ferries around Lake Como.Walk up to the castle above Varenna is great and the views of the lake from the castle are fantastic.

Overall, this is a rundown property in need of significant updating. Several things were broken, including the bin, blind, and front door knob. The host was also quite stingy with supplies — we were given only two flimsy toilet rolls for three people staying three nights and told to provide our own. Basic amenities such as tea bags and coffee were also lacking. We had issues with the pin code upon arrival and were unable to reach anyone for assistance, making the provided contact numbers pointless. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this property.

Good location with views

This location was good and we enjoyed our stay. The only drawback was that they promote concierge service but the response is slow. They also only provide toilet paper for the first night of your stay. So if you run out, you are expected to purchase more. As a foreign traveler this is an inconvenience.

This property is very well located. It’s within walking distance to many attractions, and good restaurants nearby. The apartment is big, with two bedrooms upstairs, and a beautiful view from the living room! We were greeted with a welcoming package that even included wine. So nice! Their customer service was very professional and helpful. Just a few notes to future guests, the ceilings on the bedrooms are partially low. There is no air conditioning, but they have fans in every room and you can open the windows. They also have a washing machine, which was very convenient for me, but be advised that you will have to hang your clothes to dry. I had a great time, and would definitely stay here again.

Perfect location for exploring Lake Como area

We really enjoyed our stay! The location is fantastic, and the apartment was very clean, and as described. We were 4 adults, and we had no issues with water temp/pressure as described in an earlier review. We walked from the train station with lots of luggage, and had a bit of a struggle. Use the post office in GPS to make it easier. Only one set of keys and you need a key to get in AND out of the front door. This created limitations when we wanted to split up.

Uns hat der Aufenthalt in der Villa al Prato sehr gut gefallen! Neben der perfekten Lage des Appartments und der sehr geschmacklich abgestimmten Einrichtung ist auch die gute Küchenausstattung (Espresso-Maschine, scharfe Messer etc.) zu erwähnen. Auch ihr Service war sehr gut: Unsere Bitte nach einem zweiten Haustürschlüssel wurde umgehend erfüllt. Wie bereits erwähnt gehabt ließ sich die Appartmenttür nicht richtig schließen - dies lässt sich aber sicherlich durch die Hautechnik schnell beheben. Also wir können nur Gutes berichten und hatten klasse 14 Tage am Comer See !

We stayed at this villa for 4 nights it could easily have been 4 weeks or longer. Beautifully appointed, spacious and comfortable. The location up in the Mountains breathtaking, so central to many large cities, fabulous local cuisine and all topped off by our travel assistants Winnifred and David from Cherry Tree B&B in Polinago. Their local knowledge opened up this region of Italy for us that no other travel guide or map could ever do. I plan to go back, see so many places I missed and complete another cooking class with Rina and Daniella. Fabulous!!

September 2016 The rooms were very clean and easy to get to with my frail mother. The building seems very new and the rooms all have lake views. It was also nice having a washing machine and a place to cook a light breakfast. My family loved the place and loved Varenna. I'd go back most definitely! Thank you for the lovely accommodation!
