Former wine merchant's house and barn, sleeps 14, private pool, stunning views.
Welcome to La Paillotte
La Paillotte was once a wine merchant's house. It's former barn, La Petite Paillotte, stands across the courtyard. Located in Lantilly, a peaceful rural village just 10 minutes drive from a number of larger towns, they provide a spacious, relaxing and comfortable home-from-home. The houses have been in our family for over 25 years and we have designed them to be places where families or groups of friends can spend time and enjoy being together, whether that's relaxing by the pool, visiting the local attractions or playing pool and table tennis in the large games room. They are the kind of place you won't want to leave - we never do.
What's to do and see? You can start with visiting charming French villages like Semur-en Auxois (a stunning medieval town on the river Armançon with ramparts, towers and cobbled streets), Epoisses (with its beautiful grounds and chateaux) or Flavigny-sur-Ozerain (one of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France and where the film Chocolat was made). Further afield are Beaune (charming old town with cobbled streets, city walls and the amazing Hospice de Beaune), Vézelay (UNESCO World Heritage site on a hilltop with a magnificent Abbey) and the city of Dijon.
Nearby attractions include the Abbaye de Fontenay (another UNESCO World Heritage site, just 10 miles away), Alésia Muséo-Parc (the site of the battle the Romans and Gauls, now a museum, ruins and daily battle re-enactments), Parc l'Auxois (zoo with animals and waterpark) and the Forge du Buffon.
If wine tasting is your thing, drive the Routes de Vin de Bourgogne between Beaune and Dijon, stopping at Côtes de Nuits, Aloxe-Corton, Pommard, Volnay, Santenay and more. Or head north to Chablis or the Route de Champagne. In Beaune, try visiting Patriarch Père & Fils or Cave des Hospices.
For the more active the well maintained canals paths are perfect for walking or cycling or you can walk or swim at nearby Lac Du Pont, swim in Montbard pool with its lazy river and slide, visit Beaune plage or chill by your own private pool!

About the host
Hosted by George Gray
Our local manager George Gray looks after guests and the property which is owned by James and Amanda Mallender.
La Paillotte was a wine merchant's house and La Petite Paillotte was its barn. They were bought and renovated by our family over 25 years ago. Our children have grown up holidaying here and we have enjoyed many fun times with family and friends. We have recently implemented a programme of works to upgrade the facilities, replacing furniture, bedding and towels etc and adding new resources like toys for the garden and swimming pool and a billiards table in the playroom in La Petite Paillotte.
Why they chose this property
The area is quiet. Although the nearby medieval town of Semur-en-Auxois is a tourist attraction, nowhere feels busy. There are plenty of places to walk, swim or cycle. You can visit nearby towns, villages or attractions like Abbaye de Fontenay which is a world heritage site or the beautiful town of Beaune. And the food and wine is amazing!
What makes this property unique
The properties are spacious and located in a quiet village. They are well equipped and provide a perfect place to relax with family and friends. The fact that there are two separate houses allows everyone to have their own space. But there is also room to come together to eat in the La Paillotte dining room or on the terraces, gather around the pool or in the playroom. There is plenty to see and do in the local area if a more active holiday is preferred.
