About this property

ROYAL OAK COTTAGE, pet friendly, with open fire in Chipping Campden

Royal Oak Cottage is an end-terrace cottage resting in Chipping Campden sleeping four people in two bedrooms.

Royal Oak Cottage dates back to the early 19th century and is a beautifully presented Grade ll listed property, sleeping four guests in two homely bedrooms, in Chipping Campden. Perfect for a small family, group of friends, or a couple seeking a relaxing break in the Cotswolds. Step up the four stone steps and in through the front door, which welcomes you into a small entrance hall, handy for storing your coats and shoes, before opening up into the bright and airy sitting room, where you and your loved ones can curl up on the four-seater sofa or one of the two armchairs and feel the warmth from the woodburning stove keeping you toasty whilst you watch a film on the Freeview TV, or get lost in the pages of a compelling novel. Rustle up delicious home-cooked meals with the help from the contemporary facilities in the kitchen, before retreating to the large wooden dining table and enjoy your meal with a glass of wine to toast to an exciting holiday that lies ahead. Take yourself off for some peace and quiet into the study room, which overlooks the garden and contains a cloakroom with a basin and WC. Outside, the enchanting, tiered garden offers a wonderful space to enjoy the sunshine and has additional seating, perfect for alfresco dining. The second tier has a pathway that weaves through leafy trees, shrubs, flowers and herbs where you can soak in the sun and enjoy total serenity. When the sun goes down, make your way up to the first-floor where you have a choice of two welcoming bedrooms, one with a king-size bed and the other with a double bed, both with ample hanging and storage space, which share the floor with the bathroom where you can indulge in a soak amongst the bubbles in the bath! In the morning, make yourself a steaming cup of coffee using the Nespresso coffee machine, before getting ready for the day.

Town: This market town defines the saying "good things come in small packages" as it proves itself to be a wonderful place for tourists to stay. Chipping Campden sits in the northern part of the Cotswolds and boasts many historical buildings from St. James' church where the Chipping Camden Music Festival is held every year, to the early 17th century market hall upon which the town prides itself. Not only does the town have a rich history but much more, the high street is laced with charming Cotswold stone buildings with a range of shops and pubs. Nearby there are several beautiful, formal gardens for you to wander through. Chipping Campden has held its own 'Olimpick Games' since the early 1600s including peculiar sports such as 'shin-kicking', most certainly worth lining your holiday up with to experience something so unique. For a dose of famous history, head to the birthplace of William Shakespeare in Stratford-upon-Avon just 12 short miles away, it offers some charming little buildings, bookshops, theatres and museums.

Perfect Cotswold Experience
This cottage is absolutely wonderful -- a short walk from the most charming town in the Cotswolds, convenient to everything in the Cotswolds, with a delightful garden to enjoy whenever just peace and quiet are called for. We had two minor issues when we checked in -- both were quickly taken care of by the management company who was absolutely pleasant to work with. So a terrific experience -- one we hope to repeat in the future. One small frustration we had was that the dryer doesn't do a great job drying clothes -- and it often trips the fuse (which we could simply fix once the management company showed us where the fuse box was). It might be helpful to provide a small welcome booklet for renters giving some of those basics. (We also had trouble finding the wireless router password -- mainly because we didn't realize which was the router and which the extender.)
