The space
Ideal for a romantic break away from it all, this small but perfectly formed cottage is situated in a quiet rural spot away from the main tourist area, yet only a few hundred yards from the harbourside, beach and fantastic restaurants and pubs of Polperro. The walk back from the village is uphill and takes 10 minutes as it is steep.
Approached via a long sloping drive off Landaviddy Lane, this is a unique setting for the area. Peaceful and sheltered, surrounded by National Trust farmland, we offer the best of both worlds- rural charm and a vibrant village within walking distance.
Drive down our drive, then park just outside the gate to your cottage. Enter your private space via the gate to find your enclosed sunny patio and huge furnished deck from where there are lovely views of the valley..
You can while away the day relaxing on sunloungers under a large parasol, or relax on the corner sofas with a good book. There is dining furniture and a charcoal barbeque for lazy lunches and al fresco dinners under the stars. You will need to provide your own barbeque charcoal.
Through your front door there is a porch area/utility room for muddy wellies and to hang coats after a cliff top walk. There is some kitchen equipment stored here too, as well as a wine rack and butcher's block.
Open the porch door and you will find a cosy and stylish little kitchen/sitting room with slate flagstone flooring and wood burning stove (starter kit of logs supplied, £5 per bag thereafter) all finished to a very high standard.
There is a small 2 seater sofa and armchair with footstool facing the lovely woodburner for romantic and cosy evenings in.
There is a 32inch SMART TV with Netflix and superfast broadband.
The kitchen area has a handmade in- frame kitchen, mini range cooker, retro style fridge, full size dishwasher and washing machine. There is a coffee machine and even a Kitchenaid hand blender. The kitchen is small, but very well equipped with everything you need to create a delicious fireside supper for two.
The bedroom has a double brass bedstead with sumptuous mattress. There is a built in wardrobe with room for your cases to be stored.
The luxury boutique style en suite shower room has a rain shower and heated towel rail.
Polperro Village is a 5 minute walk from the cottage. Wind your way down through the front garden to the lane below and you will soon reach the harbourside with its spectacular views and tidal beach.
Coming back is around 10 minutes, as the lane is steep. Good for walking off the delicious food on offer in the village! Please note that the walk back from the village is not suitable for anyone with impaired mobility or fitness.
The South West Coast Path is a 10 minute easy walk from the cottage, through a small wood just 50 yards from the house.
The cottage is on one level. There are 24 steps up to the cottage if you are approaching on foot from the village. When driving, you can drive up to the front door. Our driveway is sloped. If you prefer you can park at the top and we will help you with your luggage.
The cottage is not suitable for children or infants. We do not accept pets.
Guest access
The entire cottage is for your own use. It has its own entrance with private courtyard and large furnished deck.
The path down to Polperro, through the front garden, is shared with us.
Parking is on our driveway.
Our garden is next to yours, you may be aware of us in our garden as it is on a slope. There is a tall fence which separates the gardens.
Other things to note
Please note the last 2 miles of your journey to Penlea are along single lane roads, with passing places.
Please note that the walk back up from the village is steep in places. The walk is not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties. There are 24 steps up to the house when coming from the village on foot.
