Cozy cottage on beautiful sandy beach in Malletts Bay
Quintessential turn of the century cottage. The rustic wood clapboard interior exists almost as it did when it was built as a summer cabin in 1906.
Camp "Bayside" has:
- 2 bedrooms upstairs (one large room separated by a partition) - Large sandy private beach with very gentle grade into the water - An incredible screened in porch to enjoy morning coffee and evening sunsets on - Free use of an aluminum fishing / row boat / kayaks / paddleboard - Swim raft with slide (kids love it!) - Basic TV channels - WiFi internet - Mooring available for your small boat - Gas BBQ grill, charcoal grill and gas range - Fire pit to close out your days with s'mores over the campfire
Be sure to watch the video tour on the "Video" tab.
Our cottage has always been bring-your-own-linens & towels, due to the proximity of renters. If you are flying in or otherwise unable to bring linens, please note that when booking and we can provide them for a small charge.

My husband and I loved this rustic lakeside cottage -- a perfect place to escape our busy lives and listen to the waves on the beach, kayak around the bay, and play cards on the porch. If I ever write a novel, this would be a great spot to do it. We plan on returning next year.
Wonderful week on the lake, with private beach, fire pit, screen porch overlooking the water and mountains, and gorgeous sunsets! The cabin is quite rustic, however with soooo much charm and comfort! Great open space for socializing, perfect well stocked kitchen, 2 bedrooms up are not private with only 3/4 wall separating, but were fine for the 3 generations of "girls"... would not recommend for 2 couples, etc. On busy road with some traffic noise, however windows face lake and porch is wonderful. Thanks for a fun, memorable vacation, with plenty to do on and around the lake!
Wonderful quaint old cottage on the lake. Perfect amount of room for my husband and I. Beautiful view from the back screened in deck. Owner provided kayaks, paddle board and rowboat for our use. Enjoyed bonfires on the beach. Had extreme weather changes during our visit.. some hot 80 degree days mixed with rainy cool days with temperatures in the 50’s at night. Fans kept us cool in the heat and owner provided electric heater for cooler days. A short drive to Burlington, where you can walk Church Street and find great restaurants and shops. The Ben and Jerry factory and Shelburne museum were fun activities on our rainy days. Would definitely stay here again. Hopefully better weather with more time to enjoy the lake.
Our family of four loved this cottage!! The location was perfect - right on lake Champlain and a short drive to Burlington. The best of both worlds.
The house is well stocked with kitchen stuff and lots of outside things - fire pit, beach chairs, paddle boards a rowboat etc. We had beautiful sunsets over the lake and fires at night.
The owner is the most responsive host we've ever had, really good about answering questions and he lives in the town and came by when we needed more life jackets.
The only thing to keep in mind is that the two bedrooms are separated by a partial wall, instead of being two completely separate rooms. It would be no problem for a family, just might not work for two couples.
Definitely recommend!

Incredible find right on Lake Champlain!
An adorable chalet right on the Lake in Mallet's Bay. The back porch overlooks the lake, with amazing sunsets. Right on the beach! Can walk right out, and shallow for a long time. They have floats, kayaks and a row boat, so lots of lake activities. Also corn hole and many other games. The porch has a table to sit out for dinner or games, as well as a nice dining area with a view. Only 10 minutes into Burlington.
The rooms upstairs are small, but adequate. Need to bring your own linens. The kitchen is fully equipped.
Has charm of an older home, but with it some of those older quirks. It can get hot during the summer, as they have no A/C. We had a couple of toasty evenings since there was a heat wave, but the owner brought over extra fans and we were fine. The bathroom, only 1, is small and a little challenging to use the sink, since there is a shelf over the sink and hard to lean over with your head over the sink. But again, manageable. They also have a new nice shower! My only complaint is the place was not the cleanest. I felt that I had to clean before I unpacked and settled in.
A couple of things came up during the week, and the owner lives very close by and was VERY responsive, and came over right away. A pleasure to work with. And also very helpful with ideas of things to do in the area.
There is MUCH to do. Burlington is 10 minutes away, and walking along Church street (pedestrian walkway with tons of restaurants and shops) is wonderful, as is walking along the waterfront. Tons of breweries in the area too. Stowe and Smuggler's Notch are only 45 minutes away with beautiful hiking and views. And Montreal is only 2 hours away. The area's crown jewel, though, was the Island Line Rail Trail, which is a bike trail that goes out the causeway right over Lake Champlain with amazing views!! Can rent bikes right at the park (Airport Park) right on the trail.
Again, this was an amazing find, and amazing value! I would go again in a heartbeat!

Just what we were looking for...
"Bayside" is perfectly situated. Literally just 12 or so steps above the sandy beach with *perfect* westerly views of the sunset and yet just 5 or 10 miles up the road from all that Burlington has to offer and just a little further to Shelburne.
In our 6 nights there we went on 3 hikes, enjoyed the beach for two afternoons (it was a bit of a cooler week), hit Ben & Jerry's twice, made it up to Hackett's Orchard on Grand Isle, ate 3 or 4 dinners in Burlington, explored two bookstores, spent a morning at Shelburne Farms and a whole day at the Shelburne Museum, relaxed on the Burlington waterfront... and yet we never felt like we spent all day in the car.
As a major plus Roland's son Justin lives just minutes away and is extremely responsive to both texts and emails. (We had one minor problem and he was over the same day to fix it.)
Do be warned though, as advertised -- this is a RUSTIC cottage. Look closely at the photos to make sure it's to your liking. Personally, we loved the old-timey nature of the place. And we were barely there during the day as there was so much to see and do nearby. But it is indeed rustic. The only way this was a real problem was when it went down to 45 degrees for a few nights. That meant it was 45 degrees inside as well. But better too cold than too hot. We just piled on the blankets and slept deeply with dreams of ice cream in fleece hats. :-)

We loved how cozy and rustic the cottage was.
We spent a very relaxing week swimming, kayaking and laying on the beautiful sandy beach. Loved sitting on the screened in porch in the morning drinking coffee watching the waves.
