Quaint and Quiet Room in Family Oriented Neighborhood
THIS PROPERTY DOES NOT INCLUDE ACCESS TO KITCHEN OR ANY OTHER PART OF HOUSE OTHER THAN WHAT IS DESCRIBED: This unit has two individual sleeping rooms. There is a private entrance in the rear of the house which has a security screen and leads to first bedroom (small 10' x 11'). It is furnished with a day bed with trundle, a dresser with flat screen TV, a mini-refrigerator, a window which looks out toward the patio, a closet, and a portable air conditioning unit. This room sleeps 2. Beyond this room is a second smaller bedroom (11' x 6') with ceiling fan, separate portable fan, and a closet. It has a memory foam futon (sleeps 1), flat screen TV, and a very small dresser. This room sleeps 1. Inside this room is a TINY (8' x 3') bathroom. In addition to these 2 bedrooms, for an ADDITIONAL $25.00 PER NIGHT, there is a detached bedroom (converted shed) in back yard which has a bunk bed, rack for hanging shirts/pants, dresser, and an oscillating fan. This detached bedroom has no direct electricity, but does have a small lantern and WIFI. Although there is no guest access to laundry area, I would be pleased to do your laundry (wash/dry/fold) for a fee of $9.00 PER load; or if you prefer to hang your laundry out to dry on the backyard clothesline yourself, I will wash each load for just $3.00.

Mary was a wonderful host. Very nice and friendly. The rooms were clean and tidy. Stocked with everything you need: water, fresh bedsheets, comfy beds, fans/heaters
and much more. The atmosphere here made this place a home away from home. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to travel to San Diego
Mary is a very attentive host. Any and all requests were met within 24 hrs or sooner.
Quiet neighborhood and relaxing backyard.
All you’d expect in a multi-bed studio apt.
Ref., microwave, coffee maker, 2 flat screen TVs with all the towels and linens you’ll need.
Mary was my incredible. She had toys and games for our kids which helped so much.

Excellent
Mary is very sweet and VERY accommodating! Nice to be able to come back after a long day and relax. It was like coming home with the private entrance 2 tv's so we each could watch what we wanted. One of the tv's broke on our first few days and Mary went and got a new one and had it all set up by the time we got back that day. One thing I need to mention is the bathroom is VERY small but she says that in her listing. Thanks again Mary!

Cute and cozy
We stayed for a week while visiting my son that is stationed in San Diego. Mary provides lots of extras, even had breakfast foods in the fridge. The only downside was a pesky skunk that kept hanging around outside. Totally not something that Mary could control, but the smell was awful. Hopefully, he has found a new place to hang out! I would recommend Mary’s Cozy Corner :)

Yes! I'm pleased to report that the funky skunk was evicted! Fortunately for my guests, the skunk didn't decide to spray underneath the house until the day before they checked out. I feel badly that they did not take advantage of the detached bedroom that was available to them. They had the key and were aware of its availability (at no additional charge).
After this incident, I immediately started contacting pest control companies. None of those companies handled skunk problems, so I had to hire a wildlife removal company. They filled the tunnel that the skunk had dug with mesh and foam, and built a temporary one-way door for the crawl space access, so the stinky little fellow could get out, but not get back in. I also had them build and install a new, permanent access door, after the one-way door had been removed. It attaches with screws so there is no way any animal can get back in that way. (Not inexpensive project: $625.00).
Unfortunately, I cannot guarantee that this little guy has disappeared from the neighborhood and will never appear in the backyard again, but I can guarantee that I have taken care of the problem to the best of my ability. I invite you to carefully read ALL of my reviews, so you can see that this is not a problem that any of my other guests have experienced. In addition, I do promise to always do everything in my power to make your stay at my Cozy Corner as comfortable and pleasurable as possible!

The property is very nice and very well kept.
She had free food in the fridge for breakfast, she was kind and unobtrusive. The rooms were clean before we got there. Only knock is the beds in the 2 rooms in the house are a bit hard. The ones out in the bungalow are quite comfortable. Thank you, Mary. It was a pleasure.

Thank you, Bronwynn! So glad you enjoyed your stay! I am sorry that two of the beds were a bit hard for you. I had not gotten that feedback before, but I want to make sure that ALL of my guests will be 100% comfortable in the future. So, I am replacing those two mattresses immediately. Hope you will consider returning to my place again on your next stay in San Diego!

Cozy and well Maintained
I stayed in one of Mary’s cozy rooms and it was perfect for my needs. I took my niece and her friend to all the tourist stops so we were gone all day and needed a place to clean up and sleep at night.
The place was 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom room. There was a mini fridge that Mary stocked with lots of stuff for us to eat, there was a tv in both bedrooms and Mary was always available if I had any questions or concerns.
The neighborhood was very quiet, I never heard any noise and I slept comfortably so I was very satisfied with the place and the price is unbeatable.
Mary is definitely a wonderful host, always checking in to make sure I am ok or if I needed anything.
I would definitely stay again.

About the host
Hosted by Mary Mayer-Oakes
Hi! My name is Mary, and I am a retired secondary school teacher. Teaching was my second career; I was an optician, homemaker, and mother, prior to taking on the challenges I would face as one of today's educators. I am now a grandmother of six, and am enjoying my new "mini-career" as a VRBO host. My interests include politics , current events, and apologetics. And even though I am a religious person, I love EVERYONE of good will, regardless of religion (or lack thereof). Hosting is a delight for me, and I welcome you all to my little Cozy Corner. Hope to see you soon!
Why they chose this property
If you would like to experience a stay in a typical (modest) California suburban home, where you can cook and eat outdoors, but also have the comfort of sleeping, showering, and using all your usual indoor electronics, in a clean and cozy environment, then my place is the perfect spot for you! I look forward to hosting your next visit to San Diego Country!
