Just a few metres from the sea, Bianca sul Mare is one of the oldest homes in Tricase Porto, a small seaside village on the coastal road leading from Otranto to Santa Maria di Leuca.
The residence is located on the ground floor and is surrounded by a spacious, fully furnished terrace overlooking the beautiful marina, where you can enjoy meals while taking in the view of the sea.
The house consists of:
a spacious entryway
a bright, large living-dining room with a fireplace
a spacious, fully equipped kitchen
a master bedroom (double or twin) with an en suite bathroom
2 double or twin bedrooms
2 bathrooms
a spacious pantry
The rooms open onto the terrace, feature double walls and high vaulted ceilings, and are therefore very cool even in the height of summer, although the house is equipped with air conditioning in almost every room. In addition to being a summer home, Bianca sul Mare is perfectly enjoyable even in the winter months because it is equipped with heating.
“Bianca sul Mare” is a villa overlooking the small marina in Tricase. It has belonged to my family for over a century, and several generations have spent their holidays here, drawn by the beauty of the sea and the natural landscapes typical of the Mediterranean region. Tricase Porto guarantees a peaceful beach holiday—true relaxation for both body and mind—and, compared to other towns in the Salento region, it’s perfect for those seeking a small, intimate beach resort. Its rocky and rugged coastline, featuring a tiny beach equipped with a ramp for people with disabilities, is rich in dense vegetation (Mediterranean scrub) and dotted with villas. Thanks to its crystal-clear sea, fine sand, and unspoiled nature, Tricase Porto is considered one of the most picturesque areas in Salento. In the summer, there are several local festivals, and sailing courses on Optimist dinghies are organised for children ages 7 to 12. Notable restaurants include “Bella Vista” and, near the villa, “La Taverna del Porto,” “A Casa Mia,” “Anime Sante,” Bar “Menamè,” “Porto Vecchio” (bar and fry shop), “Bolina,” and “Ristorante Pizzeria La Rotonda.”
Places to visit: Matrona Cave, accessible by boat available for rent at the harbour; the Vallonea Oak; and the harbour museum. In the town of Tricase, three kilometres away—founded in the 13th century—you can admire the Palazzo dei Principi Gallone, the Mother Church, dating back to the 16th century, and the Dominican Convent. Other nearby towns: Otranto, with its wonderful historic centre; Castro; Santa Cesarea; Gallipoli; and Leuca. Lecce, often called the “Florence of the Baroque” for its numerous churches, convents, and stately palaces, is well worth a visit. In the towns near Tricase Porto, numerous festivals take place in the summer where you can view and purchase various artisanal products and sample traditional Salento dishes. Among the local handicrafts, the “Tessiture Calabrese” in the village of Tiggiano are worth noting.
The house has a secure parking space for one car. Parking is free in the surrounding area. The nearest train station is in Tricase, and the nearest airport is Brindisi.
Near Tricase Porto, there are the following beach resorts: “Ficò” in Marittima, “Cochabamba” and “La Botte” in Andrano, and “La Roccia” and “La Sorgente” in Castro Marina.
