Traditional historic 3-bedroom fisherman’s cottage on the seafront with fast wifi, all mod cons, loads of character and superb location for beach and local attractions.
“What a beautiful place you’ve put together here. I’ve had a wonderful, peaceful winter retreat, very comfortable and I got a lot of writing done. Thank you very much.” — Chris, January 2022 The space It’s one of the oldest properties in the area - almost certainly the oldest property in Kessingland.
We’ve kept lots of original features, but it’s also got all mod cons including fast WiFi, an HD projector with access to Apple TV, Netflix, Disney+ etc. etc, Sonos sound system upstairs and in the kitchen, a beautiful vintage hifi (but also fitted with Airplay/aid input) and so on.
You have access to our small but lovely cottage piano, acoustic guitar and other musical bits and bobs, and if you’re a musician, I can also arrange a full size MIDI keyboard - perfect for a songwriting retreat (I’m a musician myself).
We have two lovely period fireplaces , but please note they are not in use - the chimney is capped, and leaks smoke into the house, so please don’t use under any circumstances. The central heating makes the cottage lovely and cosy, anyway!
The kitchen is fully stocked with pans and all cooking equipment you’ll need including a Magimix blender, proper knives etc - I’m a very keen cook, too. And you are welcome to use our oils, herbs, spices and so on, or any cupboard items, so long as they’re replaced if they’re used up.
There are kids toys and books too, and possibly some beach equipment available on request.
In short, this is a very homely spot, with everything you might need for a stay.
What it’s not is a blank slate - it’s used often as our family seaside home (we have two young kids), so it’s lived in and full of character, not somewhere immaculate and spotless. Though it goes without saying that it will be professionally cleaned and tidied before your stay! Just want to be clear that it’s a character property; think we’ve made that clear from the pictures. If you love the look of it, you’ll love it, but if you’re looking for somewhere totally neutral, this isn’t it! Guest access You have access to the whole property (excluding a few cupboards, shed etc) during your stay Other things to note Please see general info - this is a lived-in, character property which we use regularly as a family home for us and our two small children.
As such it’s very well stocked with cooking equipment, musical instruments, toys and all sorts. You’re very welcome to use all of this stuff. This is not one of those AirBnBs with 3 plates, 2 carving forks but no spoons (that genuinely happened to us once!).
But if you’re looking for a blank slate, this isn’t it. It goes without saying that everything will be professionally cleaned and tidied before your arrival, but we just wanted to ensure you know what sort of setup it is. I think it’s pretty clear from the pictures, and if you’ve got this far it’s probably your cup of tea!
