Short break at Salmon Run

Located in a quiet part of the village. Ideal for access to Ellan Forest trails. House well equipped for what we needed. Sauna and hot tub great after a days exercise. Instructions on how to work the tv and log fire settings were our only issue - but worked them out. Beds were comfortable, good power in shower. Lots of logs for the fire.

Pleasant Lodge

Lodge comfortable inside, clean and warm, but outside needs attention, overgrown weeds, garden furniture seen better days stopped us from enjoying the outside.

Really enjoyed our stay

The app we were sent was really good and helpful. The lodge was easy to find and had a good area for parking. Inside it was very spacious. We had everything we wanted and more. The hot tub was great, we didn’t use the sauna. We were really impressed with the lodge and would definitely recommend to others.

Great family summer holiday

Our family of five had a great summer holiday a the Salmon Run Lodge. Great location with easy access down to the river, leading to a short walk to the village and access to the woodlands. The lodge is great with the added bonus of hot tub and sauna. Great service from Great North Lodges as well - would definitely go back!

Great location, hot tub an asset but accomodation a little tired.

We stayed at the salmon run over Christmas 2025 which is why I have marked down value for money due to higher rates over festive period. The location was perfect, many great walks and easy access to town, winter wonderland, beautiful frosty mornings and hot tub was fantastic. Sauna temperature was not very warm so we didn't unfortunately make use of it during our stay. Inside the accommodation, when we did not have the fire on was cold, perhaps the fire affected the thermostats on the heaters which meant the bedrooms were below 16 degrees overnight. Mattresses and bedding need to be replaced, metal springs could be felt on all the beds and tog rating on the current duvets were not sufficient during winter months. Kitchen frying pans need replaced, anti stick disintegrating into foods being cooked.

Great holiday home. 1 point marked down on comfort only due to the lodge not having a couple of basic things - colander and no basics such as salt/sugar/oil. 2 points marked down as lodge wasn't the cleanest.

Salmon Run Lodge July 2023

We had a fantastic stay. The location is absolutely perfect, especially for access to local walks across the river into the woods and along the riverside to town where the best coffee is at The Old Bakery! So much to do in the area that we never got round to everything.. will need to return.. for the 3rd time! The accommodation is great, lovely welcome and great facilities. Thank you once again.

Great place but a bit run down

We enjoyed staying in Salmon run lodge as its great location and available sauna + hot tub were ideal. However the place is rather run down in places, there’s broken decking between the hot tub and sauna, the shower heads leaked which sprayed water all over the bathroom, the BBQ area was not maintained at all which made it unusable. Having stayed at a few of the other available properties that Great North Lodges have they are a good bit better than this one.

Perfect house but below GNL standards

Well equipped home with great layout and plenty of space but upon arrival it was clear it wasnt the cleanest GNL I've stayed in and there's been a few so that was disappointing. Crumbs in cupboard, clumps of fluff and outside debris in en suite, coffee granules in coffee pot, L shaped couch needs cushions removed and hoovered and also pulled out and hoovered underneath. Bedrooms were perfect apart from Master suite mattress needs an upgrade. As does the tv which kept losing signal. Welcome pack was beautiful, the coffee and jam especially, are delicious. Hot tub, of course, epic however we had to make a chilly dash to grab our dogs that had got out of the garden I likely would recommend this property to others, however not sure we would stay again knowing other holiday let's have been immaculate. Also, location is lovely. Many thanks. Atholl

An excellent location

A spacious and comfortable property, we enjoyed our time at Salmon Run Lodge. It’s in an excellent but peaceful location for exploring the surrounding area. Carrbridge itself is lovely with some great walks and attractions. A few minor niggles. The property wasn’t spotless. Dust, hair and sweet wrappers under furniture, dishes left in the dishwasher from the last guests and a freezer which leaked over the floor. The ‘guidebook’ is out date referencing things that are no longer available. Generally it could do with a tidy up, water stained floors, scuffed paint in most rooms, a lot of weeds growing up through the decking and gravel outside. Most importantly, the beds were clean and the hot tub and sauna were great at the end of the day, so generally we enjoyed our stay.

Overall cleanliness fairly poor. Issue with shower in main toilet, taps loose and difficult to operate as a result. Several lights inoperable. Small sofa inviting area needs replaced, very uncomfortable. Hot tub, supply of logs, size of kitchen and location all positive however.

Salmon run lodge.

Hot tub looking a bit old. Tied marks on walls of tub. Lights not working next to hot tub. Sauna not reaching temperature. Door on wood burner needs fixing not shutting properly. But did have a great time . Good location. Nice to have fire wood supply. Would stop again. Just needs a little maintenance. Thank you.

Tolle Ausgangslage und netter Rückzugsort

Die Salmon Run Lodge war ein erholsamer Rückzugsort, ruhig gelegen und nach einer langen Wanderung freut man sich auf Sauna und Whirlpool. Uns persönlich war das Doppelbett zu zweit etwas zu klein. In der großen Küche hat es Spaß gemacht zu kochen. Mit dem Auto ist man in knapp 15 Minuten in Aviemore, wo man alle Notwendige einkaufen kann. Zu Fuß sind in knapp 20 Minuten ein Café und zwei Restaurants zu erreichen. In Carrbridge selbst kann man nett spazieren und es ist eine tolle Ausgangslage, um Ausflüge nach Inverness, Loch Morlich, ans Meer oder zu den Speyside Distillerien zu machen. Es war alles wie auf den Bildern. Der Gartenbereich könnte eine liebevollere Gestaltung vertragen. Alles in allem würde ich die Unterkunft weiter empfehlen!
