Very good

Location was brilliant however the home was not as clean or maintained the way I expected.
Found the overall state of repair poor for the money paid. Living room walls dirty, bedroom paint peeling from ceiling and bathroom not fully clean (shower). I have pictures of all the areas I have mentioned .

Maintenance and cleaning needed
Overall the house is nicely decorated but the cleanliness and maintenance needs addressing.
Large cobwebs on ceiling in lounge, cooker hob hood and door all had not been cleaned.
I dropped something behind the lounge cupboard and when I tried to retrieve it it was filthy on the floor with dust and tissues!!
There are safety gates for dogs/children but the lounge one was hanging off the wall.
Bedrooms are comfortable but sofa in lounge is not!
There is a damp problem as it’s very musty particulary in the lower ground floor kitchen.
Outside the window cill at front of house was completely rotten!
Best part is the location being right near the main Fore Street but sadly next to a pub/brewery with noisy barrel deliveries at 6am!!!!

Stunning!
We stayed at Tathra Beach Cottage for 3 nights for our son's wedding. It is a stunning cottage that couldn't get any closer to the heart of St. Ives.
We couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay or anything more to be provided to make our stay comfortable.
The stairs aren't for the faint-hearted, but in our opinion, added to the charm and character of the property. The beds and linen provided were of a high quality.
My only very minor criticism would be the cleanliness of the items in the kitchen. They are reliant on the last users to clean them and we found we needed to wash everything before we used it. No great hassle and certainly won't put us off from staying here again.

Positives:
Good location, very central to shops, harbour.
Kitchen well equipped. Bathrooms had good showers, quite powerful and clean.
Negatives:
The bathrooms needed toilet roll holders and a shelf in shower cubicle for putting shampoo etc on. A lot of bending down to pick up bottles which middle age people may find annoying .
The windows needed cleaning, couldn’t see out very well and it’s not just seagull business on them.
There were a lot of damp patches in the house and the 1st floor bedroom bed head wall had what looked like mould patches on them which is very off putting. Every window had mould growing on the frames. Considering the age of the house perfection isn’t expected but if these issues were dealt with it would make the stay more pleasant.
Ok for adults but I wouldn’t say it is a child friendly accomadation due to 3 flights of narrow stairs which do not have carpet on, the stairs are painted which can be slippery. Stair gates are provided though so maybe it’s personal choice.
In conclusion I would give 7/10 but higher if the issues were resolved.
