Thank you Rick for sharing your beautiful vintage home. Our family thoroughly enjoyed everything about it. We loved the large dock!! Kids enjoyed fishing. Totally loved the huge kitchen. It had everything you needed. To sum it up we had a blast!!! Beautiful lake!!!
We have been to this property 3 times now as a large family. There is plenty of space for us to spread out and a lot to do both on and off the property during sunny and rainy days. We love the vintage vibe of the home. Rick is great to work with. We hope to be back next year!
Cottage/home is perfect for a group like ours. Plenty of beds and bathrooms for our group of 20 + a newborn. The kitchen is awesome and works well for feeding the children and the big table on the porch was where the adults enjoyed a quiet meal. It’s just a fantastic lake and I can’t say enough about it. We will definitely try to go back.
Half of our family lives in Kansas and the other half in PA. We wanted a total family vacation and let our kids decide the state and time. What a perfect vacation we had at this historic property.
We had our kids, grandkids and great grandkids all together for the 4th of July week. Our host was fantastic; he couldn't do enough for us.
We all had a great time. Highly recommend for large families - we were 14 altogether and had room for more. THE place to be over the fourth!
Our family of 14 spent the week at this house and had a great time! It was perfect for our large group. Our favorite parts of the house were the huge kitchen and porch on the back that overlooked the lake. Access to the lake was great, as was walkability to restaurants.
Fantastic large family vacation rental in Alexandria MN
We thoroughly enjoyed our time staying at this vacation rental on Lake Le Homme Dieu. This lake home had all the accommodations for our family of 20. Family enjoyed yards games both near home and along the lake front. Kids played in water and caught lots of fish off dock. Lake home had room to store and access personal boat for fun out on the water! We absolutely loved it. The owner was easy to contact and very responsive if we needed anything. Many thanks Rick!
Absolutely incredible home on beautiful Lake Le Homme Dieu. It was perfect for our family gathering of 20 people ranging in age from infant to adult. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms and community space so we did not feel crowded in any way. The gourmet kitchen is an additional bonus when cooking for a crowd!
We would highly recommend staying at “The Big Top”! Thank you for opening your home to us.
Our family group was 19 people, ages from 1 to 71. The house was perfect for us. We could all eat & play games together around the long table in the porch or hang out and cook in the huge kitchen. The kitchen had an abundance of plates, utensils and everything we needed. There were also many separate spaces for people to read or work if desired.
The outside had space for yard games and the kids caught lots of pan fish from the dock. Thanks to Rick for letting us stay in this house!
Our family (3 generations) stayed a week at this lovely home! Rick was great to work with prior to arrival and was there to meet us when we arrived. He gave us a tour of this wonderful home that was built in 1917. The home is huge and worked great for our family of 15. There were plenty of beds and bathrooms, the kitchen was huge and stocked very well! We loved the huge indoor patio, the great adirondack chairs by the house and the fire pit and the large dock for our pontoon rental. It is a great location that is very close to grocery stores, gas station, restaurants and downtown Alexandria. We had an amazing week with great weather too! Thank you for helping us make lots of great family memories. I would highly recommend staying at this beautiful home.
An amazing historic home with plenty of space for a family of 20. Love the large kitchen! We really enjoyed the lake view and areas of the property to relax and/or play games. Locations for evening fires close to the house and down by the lake. Lake front and large dock was great for the children. Rick was a pleasure to work with and responded quickly to any needs. Already booked for next year! Jim H
A very beautiful place and setting. Only complaint I would have is the going up and down the outside steps without a railing. The Bay Area was perfect for my family for boating.
We couldn’t have had a better stay! The incredible house far exceeded our expectations and Rick, the owner, was amazingly kind, helpful and informative! Our son’s wedding reception at Carlos Creek (very close by) made this the perfect spot for us and some extended family members! The fascinating history Rick shared with us sweetened the deal!
Fun place. Very large home with many bedrooms and beautiful spot on lake. Huge dock with great fishing and boat lift that accommodated tall boat tower with no problem. Restaurants close by you can access from water and circle driveway to accommodate trailers and multiple cars easily. Perfect for big family or multiple couples. Sandy beach and shallow clean water for young kids to play. Thanks for great time!
Our family of 20 had a wonderful time, relaxing by the water, playing games on the large lawn, and cooking in the amazing kitchen! All the grandkids are asking when we are going again!
We had a great time at this awesome and unique house. It was very accommodating for my large party and had cool history behind it that you don't find often in rentals. It checked all the boxes.
We had a great stay! The house is amazing, lots of room for everyone, the kitchen was especially nice with lots of refrigeration space and room for everyone to gather and help cook! The dock and lake area was great, the kids had a blast playing in the water and building sand castles. Rick was great to work with, answered all of our questions.. I would highly recommend for large groups, it was a fantastic week!

The house was peaceful with lots of areas for different groups to gather and converse. The lake view was wonderful and the kitchen space was large and wonderful to accommodate larger groups.
We enjoyed our family reunion at this lovely estate! The home was tastefully decorated, spacious for our 19 guests and the kitchen was a work of art for preparing large meals.
What a wonderful location. We enjoyed golfing, the amusement park, local brewery and shopping. The home is within blocks of both Zorbas and The Lure.
We enjoyed a visit from Rick who gave a history of the home and "Texas Row".
Very gracious hosts. Thank you!
Perfect place for a large group. Lots of room to spread out! Firewood was wet, and we had to take care of a bees nest by the front door, but other than that a beautiful home. If this rental included a pontoon, it would be a real gem!!
Great home that is about a 100 years old. Lot's of character! Love the enclosed porch across the entire back. A broken/inoperable sliding door to a full bath made one of the bathrooms useless. A repair should have been made prior to our arrival.
My family met in MN for a wedding and reunion. This beautiful spacious home exceeded our expectations. We all wished we could stay longer because we didn't even use all of the wonderful spaces this house has to offer. We had fires outside at night and played pool as well as boating on this beautiful lake. We will definitely return. Thank-you for letting us enjoy your home.
We had an outstanding stay at the Big Top on Le Homme Dieu!!

About the host
Hosted by Rick Jones
My wife and I have enjoyed this home for 26 years and our kids are gone so we decided to let you enjoy this beautiful old {100 yr old} house with all its charm. It was built in 1918 and people from Texas would come with there maids and butlers to enjoy the lake and get out of the heat. They came every year and we know you will to.
Why they chose this property
This is a modernized home with reflections of another era. With plenty of space, beautiful shoreline, and fabulous views of the lake, there is truly "something for everyone". It is close to local restaurants, The LURE Lakebar and Resturant, and Zorbaz by the lake, so boat or walk over to enjoy lake life from another venue. The Alexandria area offers many activities in the event that anyone from your group wants to leave the usually isn't the case as this house has it all !
What makes this property unique
Spacious, comfortable, close to local restaurants and golfing, and activities available for all age levels! The expansive front porch allows for full group dining and views of the lake. Yard games, bonfires, and lake activities make this house the perfect vacation destination!
