About this property
Eco-friendly house beside the sea in the wildness and solitude of Connemara
Teach Greine is a Eco-friendly dormer bungalow (2700sq feet) on its own grounds. Heated by solar power, a heat recovery system and excellent insulation makes it a warm and comfortable house. Organic paints and natural oils were used through out the interior. The main entrance door leads into a sun porch with a wooden spiral stair leading to the upstairs. The sun porch leads into the kitchen/dining area which has fitted wooden units, beech worktop and a work island. The kitchen has a Rayburn range, four gas hob rings, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, kettle, toaster, with a ample supply of crockery and utensils. The dining room has a table and six chairs and a sideboard. This leads into the sitting room which has magnificent views of the sea, rocky shoreline and mountains. It has a sofa and four large comfortable chairs, TV , piano, large coffee table and a cut-stone fireplace. In keeping with the Eco friendly ethos, Bamboo flooring is used in the kitchen/dining and sitting room areas. Off the sun-porch is a cloak room for hanging coats which leads into the downstairs shower/toilet and wash-hand basin room. The utility room off the sun-porch has a large sink, washing machine, fridge/freezer, ironing board and iron. Upstairs are three bedrooms, a bathroom, and a pull out hot press. There is a landing area which has a table and chair where you can enjoy the magnificent views of the sea and mountains. The west bedroom with a view of the sea has a double and single bed with a walk in wardrobe. The south bedroom has a double and a small single bed and open shelves for the wardrobe. The north bedroom has adult bunk beds with a view of the sea through the velux windows and open shelves for the wardrobes. All bedrooms have bedside lockers and bedside lamps. Wooden floors are in all the bedrooms, bathroom and landing. The bathroom has a small whirlpool bath, toilet and wash hand basin.
The house is surrounded by gravel with ample space to park and turn a car. It has a picnic table. The acre site includes an abundance of wild flowers and plants aided only by organic methods.
