Buckingham Palace and the surrounding Royal Parks are within easy walking distance, as are Westminster Abbey, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, placing you right at the centre of London’s historic and ceremonial heart.
The heart of London posh Belgravia is close by, including Pimlico Road and Elizabeth Street, well known for their cafés, restaurants, antique shops, delicatessens, charming pubs and a popular weekly farmers’ market. This area is especially loved by guests who enjoy local neighbourhood life rather than busy tourist crowds.
Victoria Station is a short walk and is one of London’s main transport hubs, offering Metro (Underground) lines, mainline trains across the UK, buses and open-top sightseeing routes. Victoria Coach Station is also nearby and is often used by guests for comfortable day trips to destinations such as the Cotswolds, Oxford and other historic towns.
Sloane Square is approximately a 10-minute walk and marks the gateway to Chelsea. From here you can explore the iconic King’s Road, internationally known since the 1960s for its influence on fashion, music and culture, and still home to elegant boutiques, cafés and bookshops. Cultural highlights nearby include the Royal Court Theatre, Cadogan Hall with its extensive programme of concerts and events, and the Saatchi Gallery, a favourite with guests interested in modern art and design.
Although the location is exceptionally central, the house itself is set on a peaceful residential street, in an upmarket safe area, offering a calm and comfortable retreat after a day exploring London, with countless cafés, restaurants, shops and everyday services close by.
THE SPACE This elegant Victorian townhouse dates from 1870 and is spread across three levels: the ground, first and second floors (American first, second and third floors). Guests have exclusive use of the entire townhouse across these floors throughout their stay.
The townhouse sleeps up to eight guests comfortably and works particularly well for families, groups of friends and multi-generational travellers. When rented together with the optional separate studio apartment mentioned earlier, accommodation is available for groups of up to ten guests.
THE LAYOUT The ground floor (American first floor) features a comfortable living room with high ceilings, chandeliers and stylish décor. There is a glass dining table, a flat-screen TV with Netflix, Prime and other channels, and a high-quality Italian leather sofa bed that easily converts into a full-size double bed. Conveniently for guests travelling with older family members or anyone who prefers fewer stairs, the ground floor (American first floor) also includes a full bathroom with bath and shower, WC and basin, allowing comfortable day-to-day living on this level.
The main kitchen on this level is fully equipped with a dishwasher, washer-dryer, microwave, refrigerator, and all necessary cookware, plates, cups and cutlery.
On the first floor (American second floor) there is a light-filled breakfast room, which guests particularly enjoy for morning coffee and relaxed starts to the day. This space includes a cafetière, stove top, additional refrigerator and a second washing machine. It is designed for breakfast and light use rather than formal meals.
BEDROOMS & BATHROOMS There are three well-proportioned bedrooms arranged across the upper floors. The principal bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom and is equipped with a vanity basin, mirror, desk and wardrobe space.
The second and third bedrooms are located on the top floor and each is equipped with a vanity basin, mirror, desk and wardrobe and have access to a shared bathroom.
In total, the house has three modern bathrooms, all with bath and shower combinations, wash basins and WCs. All baths are full size, with showers over the top (shower baths).
As with all traditional London townhouses, there are stairs between floors. Many guests appreciate the split-level layout for privacy and flexibility, particularly when travelling as a group.

About the host
Hosted by Simone
Hello, I’m Simone, your host.
I’m London-born and have lived in this part of Central London for many years. I take pride in being a very responsive, hands-on host and in making sure guests feel comfortable, well looked after, and well informed throughout their stay.
If you’d like reassurance before reading further, I do recommend taking a moment to look at my recent guest reviews, as they reflect very accurately what guests value most about staying here.
Before arrival, I share tailored local recommendations to help guests plan their time with confidence and local insight, rather than relying on generic guidebooks. This is something many guests comment on and particularly appreciate, especially families and those staying a little longer.
I’m always happy to help with practical questions, transport tips, restaurant suggestions, and the small details that make a stay run smoothly and feel easy.
Why they chose this property
I chose this area because it is where my family roots are. My grandmother was born and lived locally, and that connection is one of the reasons I have always felt at home here.
This part of SW1 is one of London’s most established and desirable residential neighbourhoods. It feels distinctly English in character, with elegant, white stucco-fronted Victorian townhouses and quiet, well-kept streets. Guests often comment on how safe, calm and reassuring the area feels, which is an increasingly important consideration when visiting London.
What makes this location special is the balance it offers. Despite its peaceful, residential atmosphere, it is exceptionally central and practical. From here, you can walk to Belgravia, London Victoria, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament and the River Thames, while also enjoying excellent local cafés, restaurants, pubs and small shops close by.
It’s an area that allows visitors to experience London as it really is — elegant, historic and walkable — while still offering a quiet retreat at the end of the day. That combination is exactly why I chose this location, and why many guests return.
What makes this property unique
This is a traditional Victorian London townhouse set in one of the most elegant and peaceful residential parts of SW1. The house sits on an exceptionally quiet street, something guests comment on frequently, especially given how central the location is.
Architecturally, the house forms part of the historic Pimlico “grid”, a beautifully ordered network of streets lined with classic white stucco-fronted period houses. The area was designed by Sir Thomas Cubitt, whose influence still defines the character of the neighbourhood today. Many guests enjoy simply walking locally and appreciating the symmetry, scale and elegance of the surrounding streets.
Inside, the house reflects this heritage. Original features are complemented by carefully chosen details, including antique French mirrors and chandeliers, which give the rooms warmth and character without feeling overdone.
The result is a home that feels authentic, elegant and lived-in, rather than generic or staged.
Cleanliness is taken extremely seriously. The house is professionally cleaned after every stay, with freshly laundered bed linen and towels throughout. All duvets, covers and linens are cleaned each time, and for American guests in particular, a top sheet is provided and neatly folded on the bed, as many guests appreciate this familiar detail.
The house is also located close to local landmarks that reflect the area’s history. One of the most popular neighbourhood pubs, The Thomas Cubitt on Elizabeth Street, is named after Sir Thomas Cubitt himself and is a favourite with both locals and visitors.
Taken together — the architecture, the quiet setting, the attention to cleanliness, and the character of the interiors — this is a home that offers something increasingly rare in Central London: a calm, beautifully kept, and distinctly English place to stay.
