About this property

Blue Raven Retreat: Hot Tub and Mountain Views on the Turquoise Trail!

This rural, tranquil adobe dwelling in the desert is a 600 sq. foot apartment attached to our home by a single shared wall in the sunroom. It features two private entrances, one with its own courtyard, and the other from its sunroom into an oasis of a backyard.
There is plenty of on-site parking available, including room for an RV or trailer, if needed.
The hot tub, for guests' exclusive use, is a perfect place to enjoy desert/mountain views during the day, or night skies without light pollution. At 6,300 ft. above sea level, you can see the milky way in the new moon cycle. The hot tub is kept hot all year round. From our 2.5 acre property you can access an arroyo walk that is both gentle and beautiful. Enjoy your coffee on the patio with mountain views, or in the shade of the large trees in the courtyard.
You are a 25 minute drive to the plaza downtown, but only 2 minutes away from the best New Mexican breakfast or lunch in the county, a well-stocked convenience store and gas station, and a microbrewery serving dinner until 9 pm, with live music most summer weekends.
Your apartment features original adobe walls made with on-site clay, tile floors and wood-beam ceilings. The large windows face the mountains.
The kitchenette is well-stocked with coffees, teas, snacks, breakfast cereals and condiments. There are multiple small appliances if you want to cook your own meals, as well as a large grill on the patio.
The bedroom has a queen-sized bed. If you bring kids, or are sharing this trip with other adults, the futon in the living room can be made up into a double bed on request, with two mattress toppers for a comfortable night's sleep. There are baseboard heaters for the winter, and a window air-conditioner for the summer months. But at this altitude, the nights are always beautifully cool. You can open the windows and enjoy the breeze. The bedroom has a screen with cable channels, hdmi connection for your device, and a dvd player for the closet-full of dvds for you to play after a day of exploring Santa Fe, or taking a day trip to Bandelier National Monument, or visiting Taos, (both an hour away) or, with an advance registration online, the fabulous Tent Rocks National Monument. Another adventure is exploring the famous Turquoise Trail, right around the corner, with the village of Cerrillos and its 100 year-old adobe structures and tradings posts and state park, just five minutes away. Next is the village of Madrid, just an extra five miles down the scenic roadway. It's an old mining town, with every house on main street turned into a gallery for local artists and jewelry makers, an ice-cream shop, coffee shop or restaurant. You can finish the visit with a drink at the mineshaft tavern. Then of course, is all that Santa Fe has to offer: fabulous restaurants, art galleries, the original Meow Wolf, museums, the old plaza and so much more. Plan your itinerary carefully, as there is enough to do to keep you busy for a month. Or, just relax and enjoy your desert retreat with everything you need at your fingertips.

We were a small group of college students wanting a chill break and we definitely got that! A bit of a drive from downtown but we absolutely loved it. The hosts live in the other side of the place but you don't interact with them outside of check in. There is no air conditioning and they had flannel sheets so we got a little bit hot at night but wasn't bad since it was spring and was still a bit chilly at night. It was a small space for 4 adults but it was honestly perfect for us! If you get the chance, definitely eat outside on the patio and visit the hot tub at night to stargaze!
The sunset from the porch! Our favorite time of day and absolutely beautiful!
