Panhandle Getaways furnishes a few essential items for guests to utilize until they can get to the grocery store. Initial Supplies include: Dishwasher soap, small washing machine powder, each bathroom has amenities (like hotel but NOT restocked) shampoo, conditioner, soap bar. One roll of toilet paper in each bathroom & one paper towel roll in the kitchen. All bed linens and towels are provided. We encourage guests to bring beach towels for use at the pool and beach.

Amazing view and location

My family had such an amazing spring break.. I really enjoyed having my own private lanai and bathroom. I could lay in bed in the morning drinking coffee, listening to the ocean waves and watching the sunrise, it is such a peaceful and beautiful space.

The view from the living room was absolutely stunning!! 270° views of the ocean, couldn't be beat! There was construction happening during our stay that impacted our ability to use the bedroom balcony, but otherwise, we were very satisfied!

Beautiful Beach Views

I loved staying at this beautiful condo. You can see the beautiful views from the couch, coffee in the morning on the front balcony was amazing, watching people search for crabs at night was pretty cool too, and bedroom balconies was lovely! Everything was perfect and the front desk helped us order a pizza to our room. The front desk also had a machine to blow up your floaties. The condo was beautifully decorated with a very nice kitchen. It was perfect! Thank you so much for sharing it with us!

Awesome Resort. Descent room.

We have stayed at Pelican before and fell in love with the resort. Our condo unit was beautiful!! Well stocked and the views are everything! Unfortunately the coffee maker was broken. I was told I would hear from someone and never did. The drain and smell in the master bathroom shower was so bad we had to keep the door closed. Just a few issues but overall it was great!!

Beautiful view, a bit outdated

The view was fabulous. The condo needed a little work - there was popcorn ceiling falling into the shower, the closet door was difficult to open, the top rack of the dishwasher was missing, and the condo in general looked old. I contacted the property manager and got a quick response that these issues would be taken care of. The view made it worth it though!

Destin 2023

Pelican Beach was a great place to stay for our family. Gorgeous beach, nice pools, fun tiki bar with great beach drinks. Our condo unit had beautiful views and overall was very nice. The condo was not overly clean. It was mostly visibly clean, but it came with sand all over the floor when we checked in and the floors were just overall dirty (when walking barefoot through the condo, my kids feet would get filthy) and there was some mold around sink drains, etc. The dishwasher was missing the top shelf so I hand washed a lot of dishes since the dishwasher filled up so quickly with only the bottom tray available. It was great to have a clothes washer/dryer on site. Overall we had a wonderful stay and didn’t want to leave at the end of the week.

Great vacation spot

This room has an amazing view of the ocean! The waters during our stay were absolutely beautiful. Everything inside the home was very clean. The kitchen has all the pans and things we needed. We cooked a lot of the days while down there. I would definitely bring some of your own tp and paper towels though. This is on the 15th floor. So I would recommend to all the dads out there. Get a quality beach cart. It’s definitely worth it. Get one with balloon tires. You’ll thank me later. There is chair service availability for this room. But if you go in peak season. Make sure to call way ahead and reserve your chairs!! This is the most important thing!! Because those chairs fill up so quick and if there are available ones, then it’s 4th row. We bought the front row. It’s worth it! My wife could relax in the chair and my son and I could play in the sand and she was able to see us. There are life guards on the beaches and that was good to see. On our last 2 days the weather had shifted and it was double red flag. People would still go out into the water. But the life guard would patrol the beach for safety. I like to see that. What little interaction I had with the host was great. They are on top of it for sure. They will email you and contact you about everything. I didn’t have to ask any questions. (Except about the chairs). So my experience with them was very good. Overall it’s a very nice place, I have no real complaints with anything. This is a good spot!

Girls trip

Was told to call the day before for early checkin, so I did that, and was then told to call the day of checking but after 12pm, So I did that as well. No one would respond to my message that was sent to Vrbo, and this is how I’ve previously been in contact with them. I found a phone number for panhandle getaways which was the property mgmt company and called to ask about an early checkin. She was able to give me a code for the door so we checked in a little early, only to find the condo wasn’t clean. So I called panhandle back and wasn’t able to get them on the phone. Went to the front desk of the pelican beach resort, and they said we don’t manage that property, sorry we can’t help you. Was told that’s their biggest complaint with them is not being able to get in contact with them if needed. Finally after an hour of trying to get in touch with them, I was successful. They had no clue why the condo was dirty and sent the cleaning crew 2 hours later. So our checkin wasn’t until after 6pm Bc of the dirty condo. Then you have to rent beach chairs separately. There’s five rows of chairs stacked on top of each other literally. No front row available all summer. If you don’t rent a setup at 40/day, you have to set up behind row 5. When I rented a week before checkin I asked if they could put me close to the isle so my 75 year old mom could get to it easier. Was told on the phone that she would request that no problem. Nope. We were chair 29, 30, and 30. All 3 days we rented!!

If you came for the beach, choose a different condo

This resort is getting a one star rating for the mere fact that we were harassed every single day of our stay when we went to enjoy the beach. It was not only my family either, it was any family staying there that brought their beach chairs and toys up to the ocean in front of the resort chairs they want you to rent. On the first day, we played the game and rented a chair. $43 for the day and the only available chairs were the last row. It was the last set of chairs and only available because someone made a cancellation that morning. We were so far away from the ocean. I have three kids, 5, 3, and 1. They wanted to be up in the water and building sand castles. So we went and got our own chairs we had brought to the beach and set them up on the waters edge. No one in the front row complained or said anything. But here came the manager of the chair rental, Evar, he was very unpleasant and not kind telling us we needed to move back that we were not to be in front of the front row of chairs. Well we happened to be sitting in front of a condo owner who told us that we did not have to move. That she has had an attorney and the condo HOA is not abiding by Florida’s law. Apparently they are surpassing their property line quite a bit to get people to rent their chairs. So we did not move, told them to call the sheriff down that we would be happy to speak to them and they let things go that day. Next day we came out, did not pay for their chairs and set up our chairs on the waters edge again. We were once again harassed, Evar yet again told us we would be evicted from our stay, which never happened. Hoa manager came down and was taking pictures of families who were sitting by the water without consent to take photos. We once again stayed by the waters edge. We made the most of our trip and the beaches are beautiful. But if you work hard to bring your family to the beach to enjoy the ocean, build sand castles and make memories, choose a different condo. The condo was spacious, nice and clean. The pool could really use some umbrellas to help with some shaded areas but overall it was nice. The treatment we received on the beach though outweighed all of these positives. We will not stay here again.

Fall Break in Destin

We enjoyed our stay in this property but had some maintenance issues: 1. No hot water on the kitchen faucet. 2. Two of the electrical in 2nd bedroom were loose and anything plugged into them flickered on and off. 3. Sink on master bath was slow draining. I called the property maintenance manager, Renee, the day after we checked in and left a message. She returned my call immediately. She took my info and said someone would come that day or the next to check out the problems. Two maintenance staff came the next afternoon. They were courteous and checked out the problems: 1. They checked all the outlets in the 2nd bedroom. They fixed the 2 problems and detected no other problems. 2. Fixed the slow drain in master bath and checked other drains to make sure they were draining properly. 3. They checked the kitchen faucet and determined that it didn't have any hot water. They said they would have to report to the maintenance manager, Renee, and she would call the owner to see if she could call a plumber. The next day one of the maintenance staff returned and said he had talked to the owner who told him which way to turn the faucet handle to get hot water---as if we didn't have sense enough to figure it out!! He tried the faucet the way the owner indicated and still no hot water. He reported to Renee. She called me back and said she got permission from the owner to call a plumber who would come that afternoon or the next day. The plumber came the next day and checked the faucet and determined that the problem wasn't the faucet but the hot water heater which he said was going bad. Whatever he did we were able to get hot water after that. We were impressed with the quick response from Renee and the courteous and efficient maintenance staff when they came to check out our problems. I saw one of the maintenance men when I was in the lobby and he asked me if everything was working ok and that the owner had approved Renee to call the owner. I really appreciated him recognizing me and following up to make sure our hot water problem was being handled.

Fantastic corner condo with amazing views of the ocean!!

We absolutely loved this location! Access to the beach was just a few steps from the pool. Loved feeling like we were on the beach while sitting on the balcony. We look forward to coming back.

Great View!

We had a wonderful vacation at Pelican Beach Resort. Our condo was good overall. The views and location were great. The condo itself has been partially updated but could use updated bathrooms and furniture. We initially were let in the condo by a repairman who had come to change a lightbulb in the microwave. However, we went out to dinner and came back around 9:30 to find that the door code we were given did not work…we were locked out. Thankfully, after my husband had to leave a message with the property management company, Ginger at the front desk was so nice and was able to reach someone herself (on a different line) and we were given a new code to get in. The property management company did not call us back to make sure we were able to get in until the next morning! Other then that, we had a great experience.

Overall Great Stay, Cleanliness/Maintenance Needs Attention, Booking Issue

Overall, our family had a wonderful time here! The location was great, condo was nicely renovated, views were spectacular, and the resort was awesome. A few issues with the condo itself were around cleanliness and maintenance. It was definitely not thoroughly cleaned prior to our arrival: the floors, kitchen counters, and sofa had food crumbs/trash remnants, and the baseboards and air vents were filthy. Both bathroom cabinets had significant water damage, the guest one being way worse. The baseboard was soggy, falling off, and appeared to have mold growth. One disappointing issue with our booking process as well. We successfully booked and confirmed, paying the deposit via VRBO website. The next day, we were told that in order to retain the condo we wanted, we would have to pay for an additional night (in which we would not be staying). They had already moved us to another condo, which was not as nice as the one previously booked. This was supposedly due to a technical system error that allowed us to book shorter than required, which is completely out of our control. After calling both VRBO and Panhandle Getaways, the only offer of customer service was a 30% discount on the one night.
