Best of the Berkshires & Hudson Valley

Located in Canaan, NY, less than a mile from the Massachusetts border, this wonderful 1700s post and beam farmhouse has recently undergone total restoration. Knoll Rock offers a wonderful combination of historic features combined with state-of-the-art comforts and amenities. Set on four tranquil acres, and close to Tanglewood and all the cultural and leisure activities the Berkshires and Hudson Valley region has to offer, this is the perfect place for a relaxing getaway or memorable vacation. All renters must have previous positive reviews to book Knoll Rock!

The house consists of a large open living, eating and gourmet kitchen area, and three bedrooms (two queen beds and one full bed). The three beautiful bathrooms are all fully tiled, with glass vanities and euro-style full-body power showers. One bathroom also offers a whirlpool tub. The beautiful trails on this property, and the owners’ adjoining land, offer country strolls and cross-country skiing and snowshoeing during winter season. With beach passes for idyllic Queechy Lake, swimming and kayaking are only five minutes away. Bikers can enjoy cycling the dirt roads near the house or on the many trails in the region. Spend warm summer evenings dining on the porch or out on the patio.
Easy accessibility via nearby Route 22 and I90. New York City is approximately two and a half hours and Boston two hours.

As well as the house, the adjoining studio can also be rented, which includes a large king bed bedroom, large living room, additional kitchen and bathroom.

Guests have access to all house accommodations, other than the basement and attic. Bikes, kayaks, paddleboards and snowshoes, according to the season, are available by arrangement with the hosts. We have passes for the lovely private beach at Queechy Lake, for summer swimming

The house is stocked with many wonderful games, books and movies. There are three large screen Roku TVs offering streaming Netflix, HBO, Showtime and other popular entertainment and news channels. With a cell tower less than a mile away, phone and data service is normally very good.

We maintain trails on both properties (12 acres total), offering country strolls and mountain biking, or XC skiing and snowshoeing in the winter. Our neighboring network of dirt roads also offers biking and hiking opportunities.

Close to all the wonderful places of interest and cultural activities of the Berkshires and Hudson Valley. A short drive from Tanglewood, Shakespeare & Co, Kripalu, The Mount, Hancock Shaker Village, Jiminy Peak, Catamount, Bousquet, etc.

The house was fabulous - even better than it looked online. And Mai was super thoughtful and welcoming. It rained all weekend, so we spent a lot of time in the house and it was just perfect!

Sweet house in the country

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Mai's house in the Berkshires. Set back on a dirt road overlooking beautiful fields and woods, the house is a great place to relax. A 18th century farmhouse stylishly updated provides a great location to enjoy all the natural and cultural treats the Berkshires has to offer. Mai is a warm friendly host and promptly responds to any problems or issues that arise. We highly recommend Knoll Woods.

Relaxation in the Berkshires

We had a lovely week at Knoll Rock. Beautifully renovated and tastefully furnished, the house provides easy access to the cultural treasures of the Berkshires and is minutes from beautiful and relaxing Queechy Lake. We especially enjoyed Jacob’s Pillow in Becket and the Clark Art Museum in Williamstown. Good restaurants are a short drive on both the NY and Mass sides. Overall, a truly enjoyable time.

Terry and I have owned the adjoining property for many years and, now semi-retired, enjoy living in this beautiful area mostly full time. We are normally available to answer questions and offer recommendations and advice on the many local attractions and eating places available in the region.

Our two properties were, for many generations, one working farm. So, when we had the opportunity to acquire the sadly declining Knoll Rock, we enthusiastically jumped at it. After more than two years of considerable toil, stress and expense, we are delighted with the outcome and keen to share this beautiful and fascinating home with guests.

Work was completed earlier this year and we've had guests renting for the entire summer season. They have had nothing but wonderful things to say about Knoll Rock, so we are now feeling very confident about making our lovely home available on VRBO!

Excellent cell service with Verizon & AT&T. Strong water pressure throughout the 4 euro showers. Convenient location for visitors from Boston & NYC located within a mile of the I-90. Less than ten min drive to Tanglewood, Kirpalu, Hancock Shaker Village, etc.
