Beautiful and relaxing cottage

My kids and I had a marvelous time in this cottage. The living space is ample and there are lots of comfortable places to sit indoors and out, all with nice views of the bay. There were board games and some toys too which was a hit. The space was clean and comfortable and Joy responded quickly to my messages with a few questions I had after check in. The alcove bed is as described, might not work well for a large adult but was just fine for my kids. Would definitely consider staying here again. The location and views were amazing!

Erin and children were wonderful guests. I loved that they enjoyed the space, views, beach and games toys. Erin left the Cottage in excellent condition; toys put away, kitchen, bathrooms, deck; everything very clean. I appreciate Erin's care.

What's pictured is beautiful and nice... It's the things not pictured that were problematic…

What's pictured is beautiful and accurate... It's the things not pictured that were substandard and disappointing… The main living area was comfortable and spacious just as the pictures… -The home was clean (except for the frig & oven). -Nice sheets with comfortable beds. -Ample street parking. -Ample seating for 10-15 people with the two tables (note issue below). -View was amazing, though obstructed by other buildings. -The property is pet friendly! -The host provided muffins, milk, orange juice, coffee & tea. There were some things NOT pictured… -Deck is NOT private or contained as advertised. It is one deck shared by ALL guests. -MANY wilted plants and other odd items on the deck (looked junky – probably ok in the summer) -Frig was full of condiments (ie: full door – some expired or almost empty) -Main bath had an old tub with a jimmy rigged shower (ie: not installed by a professional and difficult to use). -Almost all doors are glass with curtains. The curtains into many rooms were lacey and didn’t provide privacy. (even into bathroom & bedroom windows – ie: other guests can look in on occupants) -Cubie should not be a room. One wall has quilt batting covered with a curtain (basically it’s an unfinished homemade addition). French door windows to outside were covered with a weird paint film. -Heater to cubie tripped a breaker at 10:40pm the last night (luckily there were many extra blankets & extension cords to bring in a lamp from the living room) -TV set-up is odd and difficult to use (worst I’ve seen in a vacation rental). Other oddities… -Overlooked some fine print which was discovered at the last minute… In summary, the owner wanted to charge an hourly fee for any visitors (not overnight guests – just dinner guests). She said it was due to the septic system…though dinner guests don’t do much other than sit and visit. My Uncle rented two other rooms. -In order to rent the Annex room(for a cousin), she needed to stop by (showed up at least an hour late). The annex was block off twine tied across the door. (not a simple lock – it was very odd and unattractive). The good thing is, it had a normal shower that we all enjoyed using on our second night. -The room my Uncle stayed in also had opportunities for improvement. The door to his deck was falling off the hinges. His kitchen was NOT a full kitchen as advertised. The shower was jimmy rigged tub with pvc pipe for curtain rods, home-made shower, and no place to set soap, etc.

I enjoy hosting families and groups as well as individuals and couples. The property is unique, the accommodations flexible and the whole or its parts can be reserved. The Thanksgiving holiday is always fully booked. I hosted Laura, for 3 guests, in the Cottage that busy weekend. The Cottage table can seat 14 so Laura had expected to host a large group dinner party. She assumed to host, did not tell me. Her party qualifies as an event and is not allowed for several reasons. She also brought a dog which she had not been cleared with me. I send interested guests the Guidelines to review before they confirm. Parties, pets, parking water use, electricity, the private network and more are detailed. Laura was upset when I told her she could not host a party. I suggested they would be welcome if staying on the property as reserved guests. I was concerned that she didn't appreciate the challenge of over limit guests and the impact of noise, privacy, water use/septic, parking, traffic and the inconvenience to the neighbors. I usually reserve the entire property to one large group for the three day holiday to mitigate the issues that Laura's party raised. I came to help with the network and their TV, DVD system because Laura's elderly relatives were unfamiliar with the Xfinity remote. They were most gracious and appreciative. I also opened another accommodation many hours earlier that the standard check in time. Laura left appliances and furniture moved, over electrical items plugged in, causing a circuit to trip. The gas stove was broken. There was dog hair in her bedding. The kitchen was clean. I have been renting the Cottage for fifteen years. Laura is the first guest to have such a list of complaints. She is the first guest to complain about the Cubbie, the curtains (which other guests cannot see through), the doors, her privacy, the decks, the plants (which had just experienced first winter freeze) the soaking tub (purchased new in 2003), its curtain, the first guest to complain about the condiments in the fridge. Laura is the first to bring her dog without permission, a pet fee, or its own bed, dishes and towels. Laura is the first guest to complain that she couldn't host a party on the property. She hosted anyway. My guests and my neighbors are my first priority; their comfort and privacy. I have a quick response time, I listen Guidelines are sent for review before a guest commits to reserve. All is well with communication.

Beautiful view, quiet location, well stocked kitchen, close to shopping.

The large open concept plan was nice. View from large balcony was excellent. Lots of seating. Well stocked kitchen with all appliances and kitchenware. Downsides were: Only 1 channel on TV. The shower was a narrow 18” high claw foot tub with a material curtain that stuck to you. Looks like water has previously leaked out of tub to floor underneath. No place to unpack and store clothes.

I am sorry this couple had an experience that was uncomfortable for them. I am always available to answer questions and guide guests for an easy and comfortable stay. The large televisions and xfinity remotes, as well as other modern appliances can be different from theirs at home. For clothing, there’s an empty dresser in the bedroom and two suitcase holders in the dressing room closet, adequate for a several days. The soaking tub and shower are usually met with delight. I am sorry that this was not their experience. I leave a request for guests to call with questions, answer calls quickly with guidance. It is Very important that each guest their feel at ease comfortable at Sunlight SeaScape.
