About this property
Mill View Cottage- charming coastal cottage
Mill View Cottage is ideally positioned just a few hundred yards from the picturesque Fife Coastal Path, midway between St Monans and Pittenweem, and only a 20-minute drive from St Andrews. Newly renovated and immaculately presented, this charming traditional cottage offers a spacious private garden and courtyard parking for up to four cars. With all accommodation on one level, it is well suited to guests of all ages The uninterrupted views across the sea to North Berwick—framed by the iconic St Monans windmill—are simply breathtaking.
Inside, Mill View Cottage offers a stylish, comfortable retreat. The contemporary, light-filled interior is thoughtfully furnished, with generous seating for six in the lounge and the dining kitchen. There are three large bedrooms: one with a super-king bed, one with a king-size bed, and one with twin beds. The super-king and king rooms feature luxurious Sealy Posturepedic beds with Nostromo pillow-top mattresses, ensuring a restful night’s sleep. The twin room has award-winning Emma mattresses, equally comfortable for adults or children.
The bedrooms are arranged in two private “wings” off the lounge: one with a double bedroom and bathroom, and the other with two bedrooms and a shower room. Both the bathroom and shower room are newly fitted with high-quality, luxury fixtures.
Entertainment and home comforts abound: Sky TV (including Sky Sports), free Wi-Fi, Alexa, and a generous selection of books, games and jigsaws are all provided. Guests can also make use of tennis racquets and beach toys. For cooler days, a cosy wood-burning stove adds warmth and charm. Outside, the beautiful garden features a large decked area with outdoor furniture, parasol and soft lighting- perfect for al fresco dining or simply enjoying the scenery.
And the scenery truly is the star. The panoramic views of the coastline and historic windmill are spellbinding -so captivating that you may find it hard to tear yourself away to explore!
The village of St Monans is a traditional harbour community overlooking the Firth of Forth, with stunning views to North Berwick, the Isle of May and Bass Rock. Wander its winding lanes, historic buildings, the old windmill once used for salt panning, and the remarkable 14th-century church. Nearby Pittenweem offers shops, cafés, art galleries, and a bustling harbour selling fresh fish daily. St Monans also has several places offering locally caught seafood, including the much-loved East Pier Smokehouse and an excellent seafood restaurant.
With the Fife Coastal Path just steps from your door, you’ll enjoy scenic walks linking the charming fishing villages of St Monans, Pittenweem and Anstruther—each within easy reach on foot. Along the way you’ll discover sandy beaches, sheltered coves and spectacular views.
The surrounding area is rich in activities: world-class golf (with more than 40 courses across Fife), sandy beaches, watersports, art exhibitions, and historic houses and gardens. Tennis courts are nearby in St Monans and Elie.
At the bottom of the road, beside the steps to the coastal path, is Pathhead Nurseries, a well-stocked garden centre attached to its own farm, selling fresh eggs, fruit and vegetables. Nearby Ardross Farm Shop is a foodie’s paradise with exceptional local produce, while Bowhouse Food Market, just two minutes away, hosts regular weekend food festivals.
Wonderful beaches such as Elie and Kingsbarns are only a short drive away. For shopping, St Andrews and Anstruther offer a wide variety of options, while the smaller villages provide charming gift and interior shops as well as essentials like bakers, butchers and grocers.
