Beautiful house, lacking in privacy
The house was lovely and well appointed, and despite a few hiccups (like broken kitchen items and no coffee supplied) we had a great stay! There are a few negatives about the place though. Unfortunately sound travels everywhere in the house, the bedroom windows look into the neighbours back patio/hot tub, and the exterior doors in the 2 second floor bedrooms don’t have curtains/blinds either, so it’s not quite as secluded or quiet as it seems in the listing. The listing didn’t seem to include information that the house is undergoing renovations, so the skylights are covered up, and the stairs are a little wobbly. The furniture in the living room too seems tired (one of the couches has really loose legs and it wobbles whenever you sit down). But having said all that, we did enjoy the house; cooked/barbecued several meals there; easily walked to and from Tofino “downtown” or to our favourite coffee spot, Tofitian, within about 20minutes; and the brewery is just across the highway!! And it’s an easy drive to any of the beaches.

Spacious and Bright getaway home
Great house, great location. Walking distance to local beaches and town, if you like running/walking, or easy car ride. Lots of window in home make you feel like you are in the forest, hot tub is wonderful! Spiral staircases can be challenging, we needed to use the outside stairs for our dog who was scared of the spiral staircase!

Great spot to explore Tofino from!
The property is beautiful, tucked away in the trees close to the brewery and a short drive to town. The hot tub and outdoor shower were great after a day at the beach. The stairs are a little gnarly but were fine once the kids got used to them. Kitchen was well stocked...we’d highly recommend!

Excellent homebase for exploring Tofino
Our family of three adults two kids and a dog really loves staying at elder house for a week. When we arrived everything was spotless and clean. The kitchen was fully stocked and had everything we needed as we spent many of our meals at home. Kids absolutely love the fire pit and hot tub. Relatively close access to the beaches, including McKenzie beach, which is great for the little ones. Also very close to town for when we need to pop in for supplies. Overall fantastic day thank you very much!

About the host

Host profile image
BC born, we are passionate about the wild west coast. Splitting our time between Squamish and Tofino, we are avid outdoor enthusiasts who love our sea to sky lifestyle. Surfing, hiking, snowboarding, fishing, boating, mountain biking, cooking and exploring this incredible province with our giant dog and two young kids is where you will find us.

Why they chose this property

Tofino is one of our all-time favourite places in the world and we are proud to own a little piece of what we feel is heaven on earth. Tofino has a magical, other-worldly quality to it and has always been a special place for us both. Tofino's rugged coast and unique beauty, along with world-class surf and friendly community keep us coming back for more. We eloped on Cox Beach and have many incredible memories there already and look forward to having our son and daughter grow up on its endless beaches.

What makes this property unique

We fell in love with our home here as it truly makes you feel as though you are outside in the rainforest (even when you are cosy and warm inside). With its huge windows, high ceilings, natural light and gorgeous post and beam design, it is a true Westcoast home and we couldn't be more proud of it. With an acre of property, we love the beautiful trees that surround the house and our charming boardwalk that leads to our private hot tub - perfect to enjoy a beverage in after a day in the surf.
