Lovely 2 night stay. Perfect for a quite relaxing break with great little villages near bye. The cottage had everything you require to make the stay perfect. Nice little touches like bread and butter, milk on arrival. The whole place just invites you to relax. Definitely be using this place again.

Me and my partner came here as a last minute get away and what an amazing, beautiful Cottage this is. It's truly stunning and set in such a peaceful and tranquil area out in the country side. The hosts were so very helpful with offering advice about places to visit and to eat (We had an amazing roast dinner at the Rose & Crown Pub, which is only about 15 minutes away). And a lovely afternoon mooch round Saffron Waldron too.Everything in the cottage is done to such a high standard and the bed is the comfiest one we have ever slept in. There are some really lovely extra touches added, with some milk, butter, bread and yummy cakes left for us.We can't recommend this cottage enough and will definitely come back again at some point.Thank you so very much Keith & Carrie-Anne. xxx

Thank you so much for your wonderful review and for choosing to stay with us at the Gate Lodge. It was an absolute pleasure to host you both, and we’re delighted that you enjoyed your last-minute countryside escape. We’re so pleased you loved the peaceful and tranquil setting, the little touches we leave for our guests and, of course, that you found the bed as comfortable as we do! It’s lovely to hear that you took our recommendations and enjoyed a wonderful, wholesome home-cooked-style roast at the Rose & Crown, as well as a mooch around Saffron Walden and the beautiful surrounding area. I’m only sorry that I didn’t personally get the chance to say hello during your stay, although Carrie-Ann thoroughly enjoyed your chats. You were both such respectful and lovely guests, and it was a genuine pleasure having you here. It would be a privilege to welcome you back again whenever you’re ready for another countryside getaway. We’d love to see you again — and hopefully next time I’ll actually get to meet you! Thank you again for your kind words and recommendation. We’re so pleased you enjoyed your stay, and we hope to see you back at the Gate Lodge before too long. ❤️
