Such a lovely home and easy access to everything we needed. Great restaurants and close to the bay..very walkable neighborhood. Really enjoyed our stay!
We had a great time with our extended family for reunion. The house is perfectly located for all of our activities. The space gave all of us plenty of privacy, but yet rooms together the owner was very responses to our needs. Thank you.
This property is exactly what we were looking for - a great neighborhood, wide array of excellent restaurants, shops, and basic services within walking distance just a few blocks in one direction, and the bay, open fields, sandy beaches, and a trail to the base of the Golden Gate Bridge in the other. It is also a great jumping off point for exploring other neighborhoods in San Francisco and venturing up the coast to places like Sausalito, Tiburon and Mendocino. The house is comfortable, well equipped, and flexible. The range of rooms and outdoor patio are ideal for relaxing, entertaining, and working from home. Beyond this, the host provides great guidance on check-in and check-out, the amenities at the house, and the best food, activities and services in the area. She is incredibly responsive. We had a great stay!
Beautiful spacious home in fantastic location close to everything you would need. Host very receptive to questions and gave helpful suggestions to make the trip wonderful
The location as convenient for restaurants and a grocery store. Walked to Fisherman’s Wharf (was a bit of a walk). The kitchen was well equipped; however, the frying pans need replacement. Communication was excellent with Anne. Be prepared to have a video call with Anne before your visit. At first we were a bit surprised by that. However it was a nice way to meet your host. Even after we got to her place she reached out to see if we had any questions. The downstairs patio could have been swept up and more inviting. So we just sat on the upper deck.Overall great place to stay.
Anne was such a lovely and accommodating host! It’s beautiful classic San Francisco home with so much space and different rooms. Excellent location for walking and exploring.
We stayed at Marina Villa for my daughter’s wedding and it was perfect. The listing is exactly as shown. It was spacious, comfortable, and in the best location. Anne is the perfect host. Her home is highly recommend.

Well Located, Historic San Francisco Fabulous Family Home
Fabulous location, beautiful large home with many bedrooms and bathrooms. Kitchen worked for many cooks and daily breakfasts and snacks. Several dinners for14! Gracious owners were very helpful and accessible. Bedrooms were comfortable with multiple gathering spots for visiting and games.
It was truly a treat to stay at this SF home. The layout of the house worked perfectly for our big group. Having the living/dining area next to kitchen is great for everyone to get together after a long day. They are both large enough to accommodate a group of 8 very comfortably.
We love the location - an easy walk to the marina, Safeway and the restaurants. If you like to dine in, kitchen has all you need (and a lot more!!) and the grill is a bonus especially with a large group. The backyard is very pleasant if you have the time to kick back and relax.
Anne is such a great host! She was available when we arrived to give us a quick tour and was quick to respond to any questions/requests before and during our trip. She thought of every single detail before our trip to make our stay the most pleasant. Highly recommend this place for your next trip!
I'm so happy that Villa Marina proved to be a comfortable home base for your family during the wedding festivities. You took great care of the place and we'd welcome you to stay here again whenever your travels bring you back to San Francisco.
Our group of ten had a wonderful stay at Villa Marina. The house was larger than expected and accommodated our group of six adults and four children very comfortably. The children were intrigued with the second inner staircase in the home! Kitchen was on the small side but very well equipped. The hostess was very accommodating to our needs and check in and check out were uncomplicated. Location is excellent…a mere block and a half from the bay. I recommend Villa Marina for your stay.

Thank you for the glowing review, Clara! I am so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Villa Marina, and that our home provided a comfortable backdrop for your family to create lovely Christmas reunion memories.
Thank you for the positive review , Michael (as well as the very sweet note your wife left for me at the property). I'm so pleased that Villa Marina worked well as your home base for all the wedding festivities.
My husband, 16 month daughter, and two small poodle mix pups stayed for several nights.
Anne, the host, could not have been more thoughtful. She left toy wood blocks for my daughter as well as baby gates, a pack n play, and booster seat. She was extremely organized in the information she provided to us about the home and even left us a bottle of champagne and chocolates.
The beds are comfortable and everything is as pictured. The place is much bigger in person. The bedrooms are endless and the art is beautiful.
In my third trimester of pregnancy, I very much appreciated the fancy bath tub in the master bedroom. The attached balcony is really a lovely place to sit and enjoy. My dogs enjoyed the backyard.
My heart remains in the Marina and it was such a treat to visit. I lived here for many years before moving to the burbs. This home is so close to Chrissy Field, Fort Mason, the Marina Green, and all the delicious restaurants… You could not pick a better location.
We had a great stay and hope to be back again soon.

Thank you for your kind words, Madalyn. I'm delighted Villa Marina was a good fit for your husband's special birthday celebration. We'd love to host your group again should your travels bring you back to San Francisco.
Beautiful location just a block from the Marina, a gorgeous walk on the waterfront, iconic views of Golden Gate Bridge, and the Palace of Fine Arts. There is a very lively commercial district on Chestnut Street a couple blocks away where you can get anything you want, including groceries tons of good food. There is also a bus line on the street that can get you anywhere on the city. The house itself is beautiful and charming, and it was perfect for our family gathering with many small kids. The host was very helpful and communicative and always just a text away. Highly recommend! We lucked out.

Draft:
We traveled from India on the occasion of our daughter's wedding and needed a base for a fortnight. We needed a house with all amenities - and I mean ALL as the house was to be the base for family travelling from different places.
The location in Marina district - excellent neighborhood, close to shopping, the Marina waterfront and central to all our planned wedding activities.
The house was a home away from home and much, much more.
The house had everything from a 2 car garage, excellent well stocked kitchen, living space, comfortable bedrooms, washing machines, driers, dishwasher, well stocked linen, wifi and AV - in plenty.
The host , Anne left detailed information of the house and surrounding areas.
Most importantly, she was always available for help / advice as and when we needed it.
Her kindness played a major role in making our trip as perfect as we could have wanted.
The house had a cheerful vibe and character - making it the ideal base for our trip.
Thank you Anne and VRBO...!

Thank you for your kind review, Bijesh! We are delighted that Villa Marina met all your expectations and satisfied your family's needs during this important occasion. We appreciate your treating our home with such good care and respect. We wish your daughter and her new husband a happy and long life together, and hope you will return to Villa Marina for future visits to San Francisco- perhaps to get acquainted with grandchildren ;)?
This home was perfect for our extended family to gather. The house has everything you need including loads of games for family fun! The neighborhood location is perfect. You can catch bus 30 right across the street or bus 43 just a few blocks away. Chestnut street has loads of interesting shopping and dining.
Our host was thorough and communication was a breeze. She was always available by email and text and her instructions are well thought out and highly detailed.
If you read reviews for location/tour tips we really enjoyed walking to the wave organ - go at high tide! And Lucky Jeep tours was fantastic! The Alcatraz behind the scenes tour was worth the money and since we took the afternoon tour they added the night tour for free which was an excellent addition to our day - plan on 5 hours not 3 like they state on the web site.

Jill, it was lovely getting to know you when you booked the place and finally meeting you and your husband at check-in. We'd welcome back your group any time! Thank you for taking the time and making the effort to tidy up WAY beyond our instructions (and even our expectations). I'm glad you found everything you needed to host a wonderful family Thanksgiving at Villa Marina.
We organized a company retreat in SF and booked this property for our team members. The house felt very comfortable, the location is amazing, and everything was very clean and tidy. Also, The house is fully equipped, and convenient for groups or big families. Anne, the host, was super supportive and present in every detail. She really wanted to make sure everyone felt welcomed and always checked if we needed anything. We had a very good experience!

About the host
Hosted by owner/property manager
Gary and Anne met on the first day of graduate school at UCLA, and started dating a few weeks later. Eventually relocating to SF was a requirement for Gary, who headed to Northern California to attend UC Berkeley and moved to San Francisco when he graduated. He couldn't wait to return to "The City," and Anne agreed that it would be a terrific place to raise a family. So, after a few years in LA, we jumped at the opportunity when the investment bank Gary worked for asked if he'd be willing to relocate.
We really appreciate delicious food and wine, and Anne cooks often (her specialties are paella, gumbo, pesto, Caesar salad, and chocolate chip cookies with pecans or almonds). But we love eating out in San Francisco and are happy to offer restaurant suggestions to visitors.
Gary is a sports nut, who's been commissioner of his fantasy football league for over three decades. We're season ticket holders of the San Francisco Giants and Golden State Warriors as well as Cal Football and Basketball. Anne loves making art as well as appreciating it in places like SFMOMA and the DeYoung Museum. She ran three marathons including Boston, but has retired from running as she now needs a knee replacement. Our other hobbies include travel, attending concerts, and watching movies.
Why they chose this property
As a recently married couple we moved to San Francisco from Southern California, and immediately fell in love with the Marina District. For us the neighborhood offered the perfect combination as we are situated between nature in one direction and city life in the other.
After renting in this neighborhood, we were able to purchase our home a few months after our first baby was born, as we anticipated having another within a few years. We were only the second owners of the home; the seller, along with four siblings, had been raised in the house his parents built in 1926.
We chose the place because we loved its period charm including original fireplaces and plaster moldings. It was large enough Before moving in, we updated the kitchen with top-of-the-line appliances. A few years later we added a 900 square foot master suite with a deck, spacious bathroom, and two walk-in closets.
Our backyard used to be an organic vegetable farm in our urban backyard, but converted the space with landscaping to create a relaxing urban oasis. Keep an eye out for our friendly resident hummingbirds.
We raised two wonderful children to adulthood in this home. Now that they are out of the nest, we are traveling more (including visits to them at college and their workplaces), and have decided to offer our place for short term rentals for the first time.
What makes this property unique
Walk out our front door to the right and in a block and a half you will reach the Bay. Head west to the beach at Crissy Field, and continue to Fort Point or follow hiking trails up into the Presidio and across the Golden Gate Bridge. Turn right instead, and walk past Marina Green to Fort Mason with its organic farmers market on Sundays and Off the Grid, a roaming mobile food extravaganza on Friday nights from early March through late October. Continue in this direction to Aquatic Park and Fisherman's Wharf.
If you turn left out the front door, you will reach the Marina DIstrict's commercial hub in just a few blocks. On Chestnut Street you will find wonderful restaurants, cafes, bars, movie theaters and boutiques in the other. There's a grocery store and sustainable meat market if you'd like to pick up groceries and cook in our chef's kitchen.
