Charming Lakeside OH Cottage with Lake Views, steps to Park & Shopping

Blue Jasmine is located on a quiet street within Lakeside Chautauqua; steps away from the lake and Ohio's Most Beautiful Mile; one block from Central Park, beach and downtown; and 20-min drive to Pub-in-Bay ferries.

Lake and Island views from master bedroom, living room and spacious front screen porch. Upstairs has 4 bedrooms (king, queen, queen + twin, twin & twin bunk-beds) and full bath with shower. PLEASE NOTE: per Lakeside custom, renters bring their own towels and linens (sheets, pillow cases, blankets, etc.). Downstairs has full kitchen, dining room, 1 bedroom (twin) with its own shower, washer/dryer, queen sleeper in living room and full bathroom with shower/tub.

Children Welcome - pack and play crib in closet. No Pets. No Smoking. Off street parking for 2 cars. Outdoor gas grill. Adult bicycles. Check-in Time is 4 pm. Check-out Time is 10 am. Please note that you need to bring your own sheets and towels, linens are not provided.

FYI, we rent 3 cottages in Lakeside: 140 Jasmine, 159 Jasmine and 644 Walnut.

Finally, PLEASE NOTE that during Chautauqua Season, Lakeside charges daily gate fee per guest and parking fee per car. Gate fees support the Lakeside entertainment program and Staff such as lifeguards at the beach and pool or attendants at shuffleboard, tennis/pickle-ball center. Additionally, there are other policies (such as no open alcohol in public spaces). For more information, please see Lakeside Chautauqua website (lakesideohio.com). During Chautauqua Season, full week rentals are from Saturday to Saturday. Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends available. Reduced rates before Memorial Day and after Labor Day.

What a wonderful vacation at Lakeside! The lake house was perfect for our large family. Plenty of bedrooms and beds for all. A lovely front room with AC and a play area for the kids with games and activities. We couldn’t have been much closer to all the action of shops, putt putt, shuffleboard, pier and of course ice cream every night.Our lake vacation was truly delightful. We would love to return for a Lakeside vacation someday.

Perfect house for our group of 10

The location is amazing, there's a bench on the lake a few houses down that I loved dor reading or just enjoying the view. The hosts were SO helpful. It was a HOT HOT HOT week, but the kids were close enough to the park that they could go play a few games and then head home for a bit if they weren't jumping in the lake or heading to the pool. It was a WONDERFUL week for ages infant to 90.

Short falls with the house

The place was very nice, but the stairs and bathrooms were not the greatest. The stairs are very steep and the bathroom is small.

Michael - yes it is important for people to know that the stairs are steep and the upstairs bath is small but the down stairs bathroom is full size - steep steps are typical in Lakeside. Our two other cottages (159 Jasmine and 644 Walnut) also have steep steps, but because we renovated both, they have 'modern' bathrooms. Phil

Lakeside - cottage for families

The amenities at the cottage were beyond what is described. A fully stocked kitchen with every appliance you need, two bikes in the backyard, Air conditioning, washing machine, dryer, grill in the backyard…. And, the location is perfect for Lakeside. You can see the lake from the cottage, it’s centered between two playgrounds, easy walk to the auditorium, or Putt putt, or shuffleboard, or the fishing pier.

Cozy convenient spot for seniors and little kids!

My parent with mobility issues was able to stay in the cozy first floor bedroom and use the first floor bathroom, and loved the short (unassisted!) walk to the lakefront bench. The toddlers with us loved how close the playground was, and all the games and cozy spots to cuddle. The grownups appreciated that the kitchen had everything we needed (spices, knives, etc). Super relaxing and convenient stay!

Amazing Experience!

This was our 3rd family trip to Lakeside. We had some family come visit us and needed extra space to be able to enjoy each other's company. This home was the perfect fit for us. The house was clean and furnished with comfortable furniture and beds. Very close to the neighborhood amenities and steps away from the water. Our hosts were very knowledgeable and kind updating us with information ahead of time and making sure we had everything we needed. Worth every penny!! Thanks for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home!

Great Cottage

The pictures and description on the website match the current condition of the cottage. Owners were very responsive prior to arrival and the cottage was extremely clean upon check-in. The property is steps from the lake and an easy walk to the central park area, shopping and dining. We have been visiting Lakeside for over 40 years and this is one of the nicest cottages. Location, location!

140 Jasmine was a great fit for our extended family that included 6 children under 6. The house is located near the lakefront and a very short walk to most all activities at Lakeside. Having a back yard and an enclosed porch for the kids was great. The kitchen was very well equipped. We used the pack n play and baby gate which were both in very good condition. King bed was especially comfortable. Steps to the upstairs are steep, which are not uncommon in cottages, but worth consideration for elderly or young kids. The hosts provided detailed info on the house and community and were very easy to communicate with. Wonderful place to wind up our summer!

Karen and Phil Stahl grew up in Bellevue Ohio and currently live in Huntsville Alabama. Karen is a retired Family and Consumer Science teacher. Phil designs and builds space telescopes for NASA. His most recent project was the James Webb Space Telescope. We have three children and 4 grand-children (hoping for more). We like to travel the world – particularly Europe – yet feel deeply rooted to Ohio. Our families have been here since the 1800s and we and our children attended college here: Wittenberg, Ohio State, Miami, Wittenberg and Denison. When we lived in Connecticut, every summer we took our kids to ‘Family Camp’ at Camp Quinipet on Shelter Island. Now, we are looking forward to sharing Lakeside with our Grand-Children.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with this charming cottage, its open great room and views of the lake. We love our Blue Jasmine's quite location close to the lake; close to Central Park with its play ground, putt-putt, shuffle board and band stand; close to downtown shopping, restaurants, ice cream and Orchestra Hall movie theater. But most important is the Lakeside Chautauqua with its organized activities and programs for all ages. See their website for details.
