Our beautiful private property overlooking the Wet Mountain Valley has a pond, year round Buttermilk creek that sounds lovely even in Winter. Our private access to the San Isabel National forest & the 90 mile Rainbow trail along the Sangre de Christo Mountains. Hunter paradise. It is a wonderful quiet place with no one around, yet 15 min you can be in town and check out one of the local restaurants/coffee shops and fun gift stores. We are at the upper part of our property, we run a wildland fire fighting company and are building a Meditation Retreat Center in the Dominican Republic. You are welcome to visit with us, but we basically let our guests enjoy the place on their own, We hope you enjoy all the nature and Privacy. We also have some lovely animals on our ranch two really lovely dogs Great Pyrenees Shifu and Tiny, they are here to keep the bears away, and are amazing guard dogs that will look after you and may come on hikes with you. They are very friendly with people, though they may bark to keep bears and other predators away and love people. We have 2 outdoor cats Max and Moritz who keep the packrats away and are very friendly. We have one indoor cat that stays in our office shed when we have guests. Our horses Rusty and Marley love to roam the property and come by for some carrots. You may see some of our fire fighting trucks deploy from the top of the property to go save the land. Meanwhile in the summer month many humming birds will be visiting you when you are sitting on the porch relaxing in a rocking chair. Just think of having your own mountain abode tucked away mountain abode:)

Why they chose this property
The moment we saw this awesome slice of heaven, the forrest, the beauty and views, meadows, fireflies, our pond and stream ... and a 500,000 acre + "backyard" called Sangre de Christo mountain range and San Isabel Forest. How can one resist that???
What makes this property unique
To have the feeling of a mountain ranch retreat where you may not want to leave, you can go straight in the National Forrest to Rainbow trail through our back gate for hiking, in Winter close to skiing and lots of snowshoeing. (we have 2 pairs for guests) We have dogs, cats, horses and chicken to also have our guests enjoy being around animals, we will reduce your fees if you help feed :) And have fresh eggs when available. The elk , turkey and deer may come around, early in the morning and at dusk, or you like to sit and rad a book by the pond and listen to the the creek spilling over the rocks.
Be in your mountain adventure while you can take outings to hot springs, breweries, mountain trails and peaks, white water rafting, hunting, fishing or go visit the wolf sanctuary to see those magnificent animals up close.
Hop into the local town for a cold beer and good food., a open sky Shakespeare performance, Rodeo, Wolf Sanctuary, Westcliffe's own Observatory, river rafting or skiing and snowshoeing along the beautiful trails and near by ski area of Mammoth that is not very crowded.
