We stayed five days in this wonderful home. The views were breathtaking and time seems to stand still when you go hiking just yards from the porch. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone who needs a break from city life. Richard was informative and very welcoming.
Gorgeous, cabin, gorgeous location. The creek right off the deck and the National Forest just up the hill made it the perfect place to escape the city and relax in the peaceful forest. Will be going back again for sure.
We had a delightful time. The property was clean and well taken care of. We loved having Venable Creek just out the back door, and we enjoyed the deck and the soothing sounds of the creek. The cabin is very close to several trailheads. Wonderful stay.
We stayed here last year in August 2023 and loved the place. The best features are the back deck overlooking a stream, that and the peace and quiet. We had some friends over that live in area and had a great visit. I heard repeated high pitch "coughs" in the middle of the night, thought it might be a bobcat, I Googled bobcat sounds and that was it. Pretty cool.
We will be back!!
We had the most relaxing time at this lovely cabin. We spent the mornings sipping our coffee on the deck while enjoying the soothing sounds of the mountain stream. We spent time exploring Westcliffe but most of all we enjoyed the quietness of the cabin. We saw deer a couple times and slept peacefully to the bubbling sounds of the stream. We highly recommend this clean, well-equipped and nicely decorated cabin.
This is a fantastic property on a mountain creek, with wildlife all around, and the Sangre de Cristo mountains beckoning nearby to come hike me. The quaint towns of Westcliffe and Silvercliff are wonderful for shopping and dining out. I highly recommend the house and area.
We enjoyed the stay very much. Cabin is very nice and had everything we needed. Very quiet and peaceful. Hope to return next year. Thanks for letting us enjoy the cabin.
Love the wonderful sounds of rushing water. It put us to sleep every night. We have returned to this house several times and it just gets better. Richard was wonderful checking in and the Alpine Lodge was a real treat.
My wife and I had only been through Westcliffe a few times and never stayed there, so when I began looking for a place to stay, I explored several properties and was immediately drawn to this place. The mountain stream (Venable Creek) just off the deck was a big draw, as was the surrounding evergreens and aspens. The house and location did not disappoint. Though there was another house just above, it felt pretty secluded. The constant sound of the flowing water was mesmerizing, and the deck swing was a wonderful place to sit, relax and ponder the beauty of our surroundings. The house itself was wonderful and the details in the house were great. We were comfortable, had everything we needed, and enjoyed our stay. We've stayed in more than 20 vrbo rentals over the last quarter century and this was absolutely one of the best, and one we're likely to return to at some point.

My family traveled far and wide to join us for a mountain wedding in Westcliffe. What an amazing home with stunning views, and every accommodation you could wish for!
Our family of five and two dogs loved our week at the cabin. Great space and cozy. The little creek out back makes it feel magical. Close enough to Westcliffe to easily get groceries or go out for a meal. Would definitely stay again!
The Venable Cabin delivered as advertised as a comfortable cabin in the alpine forest right next to a fresh mountain stream. The house and setting were beautiful! Rickard and his staff were gracious and accommodating. A big shout out to Bob, Danielle, Kristi, and Alice for helping us out during the check-in process. The home was spacious enough for the five of us and had all the necessary dishes, pots, towels, blankets, ect. The forest was as peaceful as imagined, with the creek right out the back door. Our final evening we took in a wonderful five course dinner at the Alpine Lodge where everyone truly enjoyed the meal from start to finish. We look forward to a return visit in the future. Thank you Richard.
The "Venable" cabin is a great place to stay for a large family, or, as in our case with a few friends. Rustic natural wood on the outside, and warm and inviting inside with all the modern amenities, this beautiful cabin sits alongside a mountain stream and is nestled within a grove of tall pine and Aspen. Absolutely gorgeous. Not sure one could ask for anything more.
We picked this cabin because it was surrounded by trees and had a small stream just off the back deck.
The cabin wasn't huge or too small, just comfy, it was quiet, with the exception of the small stream which we enjoyed. We saw numerous deer, squirrels and a small bird landed on the deck railing two feet away where we were sitting.
It rained every afternoon and evening during our 2 1/2 day stay which was unusual according to our friends we were visiting. Before the rain showers, we sat on the deck visiting and enjoying nature.
We hope to stay again here again on our next visit
