Nestled adjacent to the San Isabel Nationali Forest on 6 acres with awe inspiring views of the Sangre de Cristo's, the Wet Mountain Valley and Pikes Peak, you'll find the Magical Cabin, a retreat ideal for those looking to relax and unwind in the peace and tranquility of mountain views, and amazing views of the stars and milky way at night.
This magical and enchanting rural escape features a charming living / dining area, kitchen, 2.5 bathrooms, master bedroom, second bedroom, loft sleeping area (no door), and lower level sleeping area (no door). The half bath is adjacent to the lower level sleeping area, and is partially finished and includes laundry facilities.. Private deck and parking for 4+ cars. There is NO access to the garage (we are storing our personnel items there). The cabin is directly adjacent to thousands of acres of San Isabel National forest, with walking access to the over 100 mile Rainbow Trail, which connects to trails to many high peaks and gorgeous high mountain lakes.
15-minute drive to Westcliffe, Colorado, which offers a movie theater, grocery store, several restaurants, a vibrant library and historic train museum. 1-hour from Salida hot springs pool and music scene, as well as downhill skiing. 30-minutes from the Royal Gorge, white-water rafting and fly fishing on the Arkansas River.
We are Electric Vehicle Friendly with a tesla 7KW changer ($7.50 daily charge) and a free 110 v outside outlet)
During the winter months enjoy solitude, cross county skiing and snowshoeing out the door (snow permitting). Closest down hill skiing is at Monarch Mountain (about 75 minutes)
A TV with small DVD library is provided. WE NOW HAVE STARKINK INTERNER WIFI - expect > 100 Mbps download and > 20-25 Mbps upload. A book library is provided.
There are 1 king bed, 2 queen beds, and a double bed, as well as a crib. We have toys for children.
The lower level is heated with a gas stove, and upper level with a wood stove, and electric heat in the bathrooms, with 1 bedroom upstairs heated with gas. Wood and fire starting materials are provided. During the colder months a fire will be needed for warmth.
DOG GUESTS: We will consider one extremely well behaved dog guest who will not be left unattended/uncrated in the home. Be sure to include the pet in the reservation request and send us your pitch about why s/he will be the best guest ever. There is a $65 pet fee per stay. All pet waste MUST be picked up (water quality issues for the rest of the subdivision) and must be leashed outdoors (wildlife is present)
Please note there is no motorized access to the rainbow trail from the property(only bike and foot access), motorized access to the rainbow trail is within a few miles at the National Forest Trail-heads. ATVs are not allowed on subdivision roads. No ATV use on the property.
We can no longer allow any outside burning or fires in the firepit because of wildfire risks/insurance issues. No smoking or parties. .
This property is 1/2 mile west of the Historic Pines Ranch and would be ideal lodging for attending a wedding there.
Our Cabin is located at about 9000 feet above sea level, the home required steps to enter the main level.
During the snow months the driveway will be cleared when more then 6 inches fall, but may be snow packed. It is recommended you come in snow season with a 4wd vehicle. If you are traveling in a 2wd vehicle without snow tires, we recommend you carry tire chains and know how to put them on, as well as a shovel. The subdivision road is plowed when 6 inches or more accumulate.
We have a minimum stay of two days at a maximum stay of 29 days.
