We had a wonderful time staying at this house on Chincoteague Island!! Perfectly located and easy to get everywhere we wanted to go. Lots of kayaks and bikes for fun. Large house with lots of space for everyone. Property manager was easy to communicate with. Bucket list vacation!!!
The house was spacious with plenty of room for our family to spread out and enjoy time together. The bedrooms were separated enough that everyone enjoyed a peaceful sleep. The rental was on a secluded street but close enough to town and the beach that we could easily ride bikes or travel by car in minutes. The manager of the VRBO was accommadating and helpful for our stay.
The house is sitting in front of the water. Although some part of house is old. Overall is good if you are enjoying nature more than the interiors. Plenty of rooms., wish the owner tell me there are Jon boat before checking in. Then I could bring me small motor/trolling motor to have more fun.
Our family reunion was wonderful! The large screened porch was ideal for family meals and gatherings. The kayaks were great for exploring. The kitchen is superbly equipped. The bedrooms were perfect for a large group. Host was very helpful from beginning to end. Thank you!
Although the beach house is a bit shopworn it was perfect for our group of 11 people consisting of 6 adults and 5 children ranging in age from 3 to 14. The house is large with plenty of room to spread out. We especially enjoyed the huge screened in porch where there was more than enough room to enjoy communal meals and just hang out as a group. We took advantage of the house's kayaks, bikes, fire pit and outdoor gas grill and just had a great time.
My sister and I took our families and our Mom to Chincoteague for the week and this place worked out perfectly. Six kids under 7 loved running around the spacious main level and when it came time for sleeping, we were able to keep them on opposites of the house. The kayaks, dock, and bikes all seem to be in good shape and area great additions to the indoor space. The neighborhood is quiet, and still just a short drive to everything on the island.
We just returned from a stay here. The home was clean, comfortable and more than spacious. There are some needed updates but that did not deter from our enjoyment of this home. Favorite places within the residence were the large, enclosed back porch and the backyard inlet. If we return to the island, we would definitely consider returning here.

Beautiful house, clean, family friendly, definitely recommend
We enjoyed our stay as a family here at Waters Edge. The house was clean & welcoming, the rooms were tastefully decorated & comfy, jealous of all the counter space ;), beautiful, breathtaking views from front of house & back of house. Kids loved the dock out back where we went crabbing; caught several. Definitely recommend this house. I’d give it 10
Stars :)

So glad you enjoyed your stay! Thanks for the kind words about this home. We hope you come back and stay again soon! Take care, Rodney
Location was perfect. Large house with plenty of bedrooms, bathrooms, and common space. Lots to do around the area. Property has nice water access with 2 small docks. House was in pretty fair condition. Could use some new carpets, doors, door handles (at least two of them got stuck and were difficult to open). Kitchen is very well stocked with pots/pans and good space to work. Kayaks, paddle board, and bikes were a great addition to the stay.
Views are great, location great, perfect for family gatherings with multiple open areas to gather and big kitchen to serve. Beds and bedding were comfy and clean. Just needs work-paint, replacement screens, new carpets, a/c needs checked, a bit musty, holes in screen by basement steps could be safety issue for small child. Bikes need air in ties,. Needs update but very comfy.

Perfect location and size - could use some updates
Perfect location and size. We enjoyed our visit and being able to spread out. Had a few issues with communications to know how to check in and check out (received the information an hour before check in after we were already in route so I was a bit concerned). As mentioned in other reviews, reallly could use some updates. The shingle siding is the original siding and needs replaced to protect the structure and the bathrooms and kitchen are like stepping back into the 80s. Overall, good location and price.
Our group of four families (7 adults and 4 young children) had a perfect vacation at Waters Edge. The neighborhood is peaceful and quiet, but mere minutes away from shopping, restaurants, and activities for all ages including Assateague Beach and Assateague Island National Seashore. The house was well-stocked with games, kitchenware, and everything we needed for a comfortable multi-family stay.
There was a snafu during the check-in process due to a communication error between the VRBO booking, host, and cleaning crew, which resulted in a late check-in, but the host was incredibly responsive and pulled out all the stops to remedy the situation as quickly as possible and for that we were extremely appreciative. Will stay at Water's Edge again! Thank you!!

Great for kayaking but needs more maintenance
Excellent location with easy access by kayak to Oyster Bay. Quiet area. Large house. Plenty of linens and towels. Great setup but needs some maintenance. One bedroom only had a twin mattress on the floor. Two old sofas needed deep cleanings and the master bedroom smelled like mildew (sofas covered vents). Several of the adult bikes weren't in usable condition. The regular gas grill was in rough shape.
House was huge - larger than listed, with six bedrooms as well as two pullout couches. Master bedroom was massive, with a full size sectional that pulled out into a bed. Large jet tub in one of the other bathrooms Spectacular views of the water out the front and back, with nice yard space out back. Fire pit came with wood but it was too wet during our stay to use. Only issues with our stay were that the binder was missing with information on the house. Owner was fairly responsive by text to questions. Other issue was ants in the kitchen, which the owner said happens when it rains a lot. We were able to find ant traps under the kitchen sink and that took care of the problem.
We left after three days ☹️.
Very disappointed, especially for the money we paid. The front entrance smelled of urine, inside smelled musty, the AC could not cool the upstairs to a comfortable temperature and the house was infested with ants. The house is seriously dated, freezer door was frozen shut, bathroom door wouldn’t lock and worst of all there was black mold in the lower level and AC ducts that was bothering several of us so we left after three nights.
Very disappointed in rental and apparent stonewalling by owner

Good location, needs updating and a deep clean
The house was in a great location in a quiet neighborhood with great views on both sides of waterways. There was good space for all of us to spread out, plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms, 2 living rooms, and 2 dining areas. The property could use some updating, it is partially updated, but for the most part very dated. Aside from that, it could use a deep cleaning. Cob webs are everywhere, above all the light fixtures, above the kitchen window and outside above the main entrance. Many of the blinds need replaced, one upstairs bedroom the blind is cut so we had to cover it with a sheet. And some of the comforters we had to wash before using them. Also face cloths would be great to have if you are providing linens and towels.

About the host

Hello! I am a sales manager for a Fortune 500 Company and am thrilled that you are interested in possibly renting our vacation property. My wife (Alicia) and I have 3 wonderful daughters and Cooper, our young dog. Fletcher, the English Lab you see in the picture recently went to doggy heaven but he was such a part of our lives when we visited Chincoteague we saw this picture and thought he should be a part of the greeting since he was such a happy and fun loving dog to all. We currently reside in Hockessin, DE but I have been vacationing in Chincoteague since I was 5 years old. Chincoteague has so much to offer in what I like to do (i.e. fishing, boating, beach, claming, crabbing, jogging, biking, kayaking, now paddle boarding, etc) that it makes it hard to leave when we visit.
Why they chose this property
Once you see Waters Edge you will see why it is a perfect island getaway, especially since located in one of the few private communities (Oyster Bay) on the island. For the last 25 years, I have made it a point to cruise through the community with the thought of some day owning one of the homes in Oyster Bay. That dream came true in late 2017. Waters Edge is one of the larger homes on the island. The home does have a rental history but not with us as the owners. Given our experience with two (2) other rental properties on the island (proud to say they are both rated with 5 stars on VRBO, "The Selby House" and "Selby House Cottage"....VRBO #'s 717709 and 759694, respectively) and the unique characteristics of the home, we are extremely confident you and your family will have a fantastic Chincoteague experience with us. Thank you!
What makes this property unique
Waters Edge is spacious so you will find plenty of room to get away for privacy or to congregate with family / friends. It's convenience to the water really make the home a special place since you only have a few steps to take in order to enjoy all their is to do on the water (i.e. crabbing, kayaking, paddle boarding, boating, swimming, fishing, etc). The private community and off street parking takes away the hassle of managing busy streets and associated noises. You will not go wrong selecting Waters Edge. Thank you for your consideration! Take care!
