We had a wonderful time with family and friends at the cabin. The cabin was very comfortable with rooms and a bathroom on every floor and plenty of space for all. The large dining table was very convenient for meals and playing board games at night and the pool table was a big hit. We were able to enjoy the fire pit and take walks in the surrounding areas with beautiful views. The location was very convenient for us … only 15 minutes from Sugar Mountain, where we went skiing.

Thank you so much for sharing! It is such a thrill when we hear that our guest had a great stay and the home provided a back drop for those memories and fun. Hope to have you as a guest again soon.
Many thanks for sharing your experiences. We are delighted to hear you enjoyed the home as well as the surrounding area. It is our hope that a future revisit is in the works. Take care and safe travels!
This cabin in the mountains is beautiful and charming. All the amenities you need are there. I recommend this cabin for your family vacation 10/10. When we arrived the previous tenants had left trash and a bear had spread it all over the porch but the property management company quickly arrived and took care of it. Book this cabin for your mountain getaway, you will love it.

Thank you so very much for sharing. We are thrilled that the home met your needs and sounds as if it exceeded expectations. We look forward to welcoming you back to our home again in the very near future.
Beautiful house in good repair, great location. Showers weren't very clean, though (hairs on shower walls). Not a deal-killer, we would definitely come again.

So glad to hear you enjoyed the home over all, not so much that the showers were not cleaned up to standards. We will use that as a teaching tool with our staff.
We loved our stay here! It had everything we needed and wanted! It was very clean and cozy. We had 3 young children with us and they loved playing downstairs. The creek was a blast and so was walking around and visiting the 2 ponds. We went in the fall so the leaves made everything even more beautiful! We will definitely be staying here in the future!

We enjoyed our stay. We were visiting the area to go snow tubing at Hawks Nest. The cabin was very close and it took 8 minutes to get there. The cabin has a fun game room with pool and bunk beds for kids. I also liked how the main floor bedroom had a door separating it from the kitchen so you have more privacy. This is a great cabin if you are traveling with kids. There is a creek at the edge of the property the kids all enjoyed playing in.

Thank you so much for sharing. We are truly thrilled that the home met and or exceeded your expectations. Please come back and see us at your earliest convenience, we would love to have you back!
We came with 2 our children and spouses and 2 kids each. We had a bit of a problem finding the cabin, because the GPS directions weren't totally accurate plus the properties in this development are NOT marked plainly. The cabin was spacious and well-laid out, very comfortable for the 10 of us. The weather in Feb is of course very cold, and we had some problems getting to a happy medium with the heat during sleeping hours - making the main floor folks comfortable meant roasting those in the loft. Would have appreciated a gas grill with a larger grill surface; we didn't care to mess with charcoal plus the grill itself needed cleaning badly. We cooked our burgers in the oven. We had two full days; the first was too cold (hi 29 w/25mph winds) to venture out much, although we did a bit. We had some tubing time at Hawks Nest on Sunday, fun for all - even PopPop and Nana who hung around the coffee shop and viewing balcony! This was only half of our kids and grandkids, but it's important to us to get together as a family, and the Martin Nest was great for that! Recommend.

Thanks Doug for sharing your experiences. Using GPS here in the High Country is a bit tricky which is why we stress to use the turn by turn directions that are emailed along with entry codes. We have passed along your suggestions to our Owner Services Team and we appreciate those thoughts. We truly hope a revisit is in order and your arrival would be welcomed. Take care and always safe travels.
This is a very cozy and homey cabin. They recently added a HVAC so we had air conditioning which was great as it was warm during our stay. Plenty of beds having a bathroom on every floor was great. We had teenagers with us so they really loved having an entire floor to themselves with the bunk beds and pool table. It was decorated so homey and we enjoyed looking at the pictures of the cabin being built. They have a lot of kitchen dishes and some pots and pans. If you plan on making big meals you may want to bring some of your own. I brought a electric skillet and crockpot because I knew the type of meals I was going to prepare. However, they did have pots and frying pans that I used. If you use a coffee maker that uses cups bring your own they only have a regular coffee pot. They left plenty of toilet paper which was nice. There was some paper towel left but if you are staying for an extended period you may want to bring some. A very nice suprise was that they had little makeup remover packets in the bathrooms and little soaps. Plenty of extra blankets and towels. Overall just a great cabin that we would rent again. The only negative was where the firepit was located. It was a very very steep way down and it we did not feel safe going down to it. My husband did go down and did not want anyone to go down and didn't want to drive down as it was so steep. I would highly recommend unless the firepit is important to you. Thank you to the owners for making it so nice

Thank you for sharing. Its our fondest hope that you will revisit us again soon.
We walked into a freezing house with no heat running, we were not told we would need wood to keep stove going to stay warm. Small wall heater does virtually nothing to keep the first floor warm. Our cost for wood was $180 over the 5 days to keep our family warm. Called rental company who told us to go to the gas station for wood. Loft bedroom had wall unit but did not keep us warm unless we got up during the night to keep the stove lit. This was not disclosed and we had our coats on until bedtime which was cold. Stove was very diffucult to light due to a vent issue, which filled the first floor with smoke until my son goggled it and learned he had to manually slide the broken vent which covered him with soot as the stove hasn't been maintained/cleaned but at least we had heat on the second day.
We found a broken chair turned upside down in the living room, mouse droppings in the first floor tub, cobwebs on the lights over the table and in general dirty kitchen utensils. Thought they only had 3 cups until we opened the dishwasher and found it full, we had to empty that. Pots should be replaced, if you plan on cooking bring your own I'm glad we did, metal cowboy style dishes are rusty and should also be replaced, found set of dishes in a cabinet but they were filty so we stuck with paper plates. Fan in downstairs pool room was literally coated in dust and filth which we cleaned before the kids went to bed. Metal twin bed downstairs not only squeaks horribly when you move but the springs stick you in the back. My grandson put his mattress on the floor to sleep it was so bad.
In general this is a really nice cabin that truly needs cleaning (which I blame Carolina Cabin Rentals for) and updating. As a retired Property Manager I would never allow one of my properties to be rented in this condition. My daughter in law owns a cleaning business and was shocked at the dirt we had to clean. Again per their "rental agreement, 1 towel per person (even cheap hotels give you 2) so we did laundry daily in a washing machine that you have to watch (per note on the wall) as it had issues. When I spoke to the rental company they referred me to my rental agreement instead of helping. Again, the owners need to be made aware that they're property isn't being maintained and cleaned properly. I'd like to say we're going back but would never again rent a property being maintained by Carolina Cabin Rentals.

Hi Connie we are sorry that it appears you did not enjoy your stay. Perhaps you never saw it but the home does have baseboard heat that is controlled by thermostats located in various locations throughout the home. It sounds from your review that you mistakingly thought the primary heat source was wood. We regret that you had little familiarity with fireplaces. Its pretty common for fireplaces to have a flue that help create a draft to remove smoke and when adjusted can and does assist in controlling how
fast you burn through wood as well as how hot you want to have it. Regarding the cleaning we do appreciate bringing this to our attention and the home has had scheduled deep cleans as a result.
Great location for area hiking
Safe neighborhood Qiet and secluded

Accomodating cabin with a creek! My boys are 8 & 10....a creek is always a must have! The cabin was the right size for thus trip with the grandparents. Lovely neighborhood. Convenient to everything we wanted to do....Mast General Store, Wilderness Alpine Coaster, Blowing Rock, GF winery, gold mining, Boone....bringing our 4 legged family along is always a plus! Thank you for sharing your home!
Our stay at Martin’s Nest was very enjoyable. The cabin was very clean and had plenty of towels and ample toiletries to start the vacation. There was soap for all bathroom sinks and travel sized shampoo with at least two rolls of toilet paper per bathroom; kitchen soap, sponge, and dishwasher detergent; and a set of towels per sleep occupancy. The creek and fire pit was a steep walk down a separate drive from the house, but directly below the cabin as described. We used the grill and enjoyed ample time on the porch. We’ve never stayed in Seven Devils while visiting the highlands area, and it was centrally located to all the areas of interest we had!
The cabin is set up for multiple families with lots of private space. Basement space with bunks is nice. We enjoyed the pool table!
The cabin is lacking in some areas. While clean, there was a mice problem in the main floor bathroom. Mouse feces in the tub every morning...yuck! You could also hear them in the walls at night...also yuck! We ate in often and the kitchen is lacking in pots/pans and eating utensils. If you have a large group you won’t have enough forks to eat with. We had to purchase a skillet while there to cook in. This would be a very nice cabin if these issues are adddressed.
We had a wonderful time on our trip! We wanted to spend quality time with our family and dear friends amongst the great offerings of the outdoors! The weather was chilly at the beginning of our trip, but by mid week, the weather was perfect. The layout of our house was perfect for our group. The great room was very comfortable even though it took us a few tries to figure out the wall heater unit. We were able to light up a fire in the fireplace. The 3 bathrooms for our group worked out great- very convenient. The kids loved the game room & being able to just relax from the everyday daily school routine. We loved the house location- nice walks in the morning to sit by the lake. We probably would have preferred a house right on the lake, but we will see next time we visit. We wouldn’t mind staying here again.
The code for the key lock was wrong. Never got a response upon inquiry. Mouse droppings in main shower. Great room TV was miniscule. Pool table old and shoddy. Kitchen was poorly stocked. Frying pans were ancient and unable to use with out food sticking and almost impossible to clean. Downstairs bunks were hard as rocks, with no top sheets. TV in main room was miniscule for such a large pretty room. There wasn't any hot water in sink on main level. Called regarding the heat. Nice lady tried to help but she was not familiar with that kind of heat, neither were we. BUT we figured it out. Where was the mentioned "Starter" pack? it must had had guest soaps for the bathrooms but we never saw it. We had to go & purchase more toilet paper & paper towels due to the fact there was not enough to last 5 days.
Fireplace window hadn't been cleaned probable never and there was lots of ashes in fire box. We cleaned it out to use but left our ashes for the next guest. We noticed that other guests that signed the guest book had similar issues. Apparently the guests are the only ones that reads the guest book.
We will not be back & will not recommend it to our friends on social media.
