About this property
Come stay with us at the beautiful historic 3 bedroom home .
The historic La Posada de Taos is an authentic Taos experience.
This vintage home encapsulates the charm and warmth that makes Taos unique. Tall ceilings are supported by huge wooden vigas, and hardwood floors are covered with beautiful Navajo rugs and Persian carpets. All of the rooms are adorned with enchanting art and decor to enhance your stay. Please note that our beautiful fireplaces are non-functional. Located at the end of a quiet private street, this is the perfect spot for family gatherings or a special getaway with friends.
La Posada de Taos is within the Taos Historic District. It is a short stroll to Taos Plaza, the town’s historic center that hosts many seasonal events, such as the Fiestas de Taos, free summer concerts, art and crafts fairs, parades, and the local Farmers’ Market. Several museums are located nearby, including the Harwood Museum of Art, the Bluemenschien Home & Museum, and the Kit Carson House. Numerous outstanding restaurants, galleries, coffee shops, and stores are also within easy walking distance. The John Dunn Shops has a pedestrian walkway through stores that offer fossils and minerals, handmade leather goods, Southwestern fashions for men and women, and many other interesting specialty wares. Two brewhouses and live music in the bars provide evening entertainment. Taos Pueblo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is just minutes away by car. Continuously inhabited for more than 1000 years, a tour of this incredibly beautiful village is a must.
Taos has enjoyed world renown as an art destination for over one hundred years. In 1898, Bert Phillips and Ernest Blumenschein were traveling by wagon from Denver to Mexico looking for artistic inspiration. Once they reached Taos, they realized that their search for great natural beauty, interesting architecture, and intriguing characters to paint had come to an end. They became founding members of the Taos Art Colony and the fabled Taos Society of Artists.
In the 1920s, Bert Phillips built La Posada de Taos for his daughter with adobe bricks made from the earth where the home sits now. The house is elegantly furnished with art and antiques that accent its historical significance. The three bedrooms are large yet cozy, and each has a sitting area, large private bathroom, and its own private courtyard.
The spacious dining room can accommodate eighteen or the table and chairs can be removed to host large-scale indoor activities, such as a yoga retreat. The kitchen is well-stocked with dishes, pots and pans, cutlery, and modern conveniences. The sunroom opens up to a garden, a lovely setting for enjoying coffee and conversation. The outdoor area encompasses several distinctive spaces for private contemplation or gatherings, including a lush courtyard.
La Posada de Taos also rents other unique adjacent accommodations and spaces for groups of up to 25 guests. Please ask how we can assist your family or group to plan your next gathering in Taos.
